Coronado Island Marriott spa review
Absolutely top-tier experience at Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa. Booked a day pass specifically for the spa and ended up spending the entire day there — easily one of the best decisions I’ve made in San Diego. The spa is the standout: quiet, clean, and actually built for real relaxation. Not overcrowded, not rushed — just a smooth, premium experience from start to finish. Staff was professional, attentive, and dialed in without being overbearing. Everything felt well-managed and intentional. The views overlooking the bay and downtown San Diego are next level. You get that full resort feel without needing to book a stay, which makes the day pass incredibly worth it. If you’re considering it, stop thinking and book it. This place delivers. 10/10.

Valets Brian and Anthony were excellent, otherwise this stay was subpar
I expected more out of this stay, being a Marriott resort and all. But it was very average, and in some cases, poor. Check-in was harder than it should've been as my room was apparently given to someone else and we were made to wait for a new room to be available. At least we got a view out of it, which was the least they could do. Wifi was spotty at best, and much stronger in the lobby area than in our room. Housekeeping was okay, except for when we were out all day and when we returned at 4:30, service was still not completed. I get the sense they're understaffed. The valets were great people (especially Brian and Anthony), but I got the sense they are overworked at times, and they also seem understaffed. Finally, check your receipt, because they may put inaccurate parking charges on there (I got charged for both self and valet, and had to argue to get the self taken off the bill). I feel like a resort level Marriott should be a well-oiled machine, but this one is showing wear and tear. It has a supreme location, and great valet staff, but not much else going for it.

Property is tired. Room had musty smell.
The staff was great. The property needs some TLC. The room condition was below Marriott standards. Room had musty smell.

Amazing staff
I have to shout out Jorge and Sean in security and the wonderful housekeeping staff. I left an item in our hotel room and don’t realize it until 3 weeks later. I called the hotel and was informed that housekeeping turned my item over to security and Jorge in security helped me (step by step) process to get it back. They called after the fact to follow up too! Thank you to all of them. Also the hotel is terrific. Amazing amenities beautiful flamingos. Great check-in. Stay at a villa if you can!

A Classic San Diego Stay With Bay Views and Great Food
We just stayed two nights at the Marriott Coronado, and it was such a great reminder of why we keep coming back. The setting is stunning, with sweeping views of the San Diego Bay and skyline. Dining here was a real standout, especially with the new chef. The food was excellent, and ALBACA is absolutely worth visiting even if you are not staying at the hotel. The service was warm and genuine, including a longtime server who has been here for 33 years, which really speaks to the culture of this place. We have been visiting for more than 25 years, and it still feels special every time.
