  Great all inclusive with excellent food, beach and pool.

  We booked a day at this resort while cruising here on a ship. Took a taxi here from the port and enjoyed the resort being all inclusive. We really enjoyed the food, pool, and beach and would definitely book this place again when here. We travel often and book many resorts for the day, and out of the all inclusive ones, this place had much better food than most.

  Great vacation

  I've been coming to this resort for 10 years and never disappointed. Bartenders are amazing. Buffet staff welcome you back like family. Activity staff at amazing. Bombom is hilarious. He did a great job dancing during the Dominican night show. Pilar the bartenders manager very kind person. Oswald Rodriguez and Carlos the bartenders extra nice.

  Thank you Griselda!!

  The best and nicest person was Griselda, the lady from cleaning room service. Every other lady from the front desk or f4om the restaurants seemed to always without exception, being in a bad mood and ready to argue. Again, the cleaning lady was the best one though. Thank you Griselda !!

  Potential to be great.

  This was our 11th trip to the Dominican Republic. 9th time to Puerto plata. So I understand the area and it's challenges. There's a lot to unpack on this trip so I'm just gonna pro and con it. Pros 1. Yes the resort is old but so are most resorts connected with Puerto plata. The rooms here were well cleaned every single day and fridge was fully restocked every single day. Also there was no musty smell in our room which is always a concern 2. The layout of the resort is great. Everything easy to get to and the view from the north end of the pool to the mountain is beautiful. 3. The food was good and the Ala cartes were above average for the region. 4. The grounds are very nice plenty of palm trees hedges 5. Checking in and out very easy 6. Drinks were good. Well made and beer was cold 7. Pool is great. It's big with a variety of depths Cons 1. After you check in and walk towards your room you are immediately confronted by Solution and Cheapy Cheapy 2 cleverly named guys who run stores. They are scammers and there stuff especially jewelry is crap. There are 2 stores across from them that are far better. 2. The local invasion. If you go for peace and quiet this may not be your place. I love the Dominican people I really do buttttt. We were told they arrive Saturday and leave Sunday. That was not the case. They started arriving Friday at noon and kept coming. And nothing was back to normal until Tuesday morning. By invasion I mean upwards of a couple hundred not sure there were that many other guests. I could say more about this but understand this is a huge reason for the 3 rating. It was chaos 3. Grounds maintenance. They do clean up at the end of the day and again work first thing in the morning but throughout the day it's nothing. garbage starts to appear everywhere and the bathrooms aren't cleaned very often either and they are nice bathrooms. 4. The beach is fine but seaweed is an issue. And if you're a fan of walking the beach down past other resorts you will see tons of garbage strewn everywhere So in closing we had a good trip for the most part. The weather was awesome. I really think this resort could be great, they just need to try a lot harder.

  Fantastic stay

  Marien is a great place to stay. The resort is very will taken care of, clean and the food is really great. We would not hesitate to return.we were here 14 days. Our maid Ana Reyes building 3 went beyond her job, we have been to DR 27 times she was one of the best we had. Made sure we had all we needed, always had a smile. We were here prior to 2018 6 times, took a break but very glad we came back. No complaints.
