Budget Resort, you get what you pay.
It’s a good value resort, not the Best for kids, food is ok, the beach has a lot of algae, so not that Caribbean experience. Staff were mostly very nice. During weekends it gets full due to day use guests. No frills experience overall…………………..

One month in the sun.
We stayed at Marien Hotel for a month in November 2024. We would like to say that we enjoyed our first experience at the hotel. We would particularly like to highlight the animation (Bon bon and Roberto). Participating in daily games allowed us to appreciate them for their good humor and enthusiasm. We would like to express our gratitude to Maria who took care of the maintenance of our room. She is an adorable person who knows how to meet needs, everything was perfect with her! Thanks to the bartenders, always ready to serve us with their smile. Thanks also to the VIP buffet servers who quickly learned our preferences (red wine, special coffee). You all contributed to having an excellent first experience in the Dominican Republic.

Overall experience: meh
Spent 8 days here for my birthday with my friend and it was an experience for sure. Before I get into all the issues we encountered I’d just like to say for the most part, the staff at the restaurants and bars were fantastic, they would have my tea and drinks ready ahead of time just because they recognized me and were mainly friendly. Now here’s the real information. VIP experience: feel the difference? We sure did not. We paid extra for this in the room package as numerous things were promised. First it said you got to access a special area for VIP in the restaurants and can make reservations. This is NOT something they offer anymore (getting more into the restaurant experience later). They also state the you get free 24/7 room service. I’m sure it was good but our phone didn’t work. We reported this to the front desk 3 times over 5 days!! With the promise that “someone will go in right away to replace the phone”. We checked out without our phone even being fixed… This is especially disappointing because food stops in the restaurants at 10pm and we got really hungry later in the night but couldn’t get anything. Honestly couldn’t tell you what we actually got from the VIP service other than slightly better wifi in the VIP lounge. Speaking of the wifi, the room we were put in also was at the back of the resort and had no service nor wifi despite many of the other rooms having it. The hotels are also open to the outside so we found 2 cockroaches crawling around our bathroom (not surprisingly as it was open so we weren’t shocked or mad but just something to be aware of). Our toilet paper also wasn’t restocked as thoroughly as expected and we couldn’t call anyone when we ran out so we had to run to the bathrooms around the resorts to take toilet paper. The private “adults only beach” is also just roped off but right beside the normal part of the beach for families so it wasn’t quiet or non disruptive like it seemed in the listing also. Restaurants: overall the food was pretty good, especially the buffet which was surprising. Unfortunately because of the no reservations and such, if you wanted a seat in the restaurants, expect to get there at 6pm for the 6:30pm open to get a seat or you’ll be waiting outside until 8pm. On Monday to Wednesday only ONE RESTAURANT was open a night so it became an absolute mad house to get a seat and we were quite disappointed as this wasn’t told to us that sometimes the restaurants wouldn’t be open. Staff: overall had a pretty good experience as I mentioned earlier with the staff, however we had numerous experiences with the staff being quite flirty or staring in an uncomfortable way which was a little odd and make us feel strange especially walking around in bathing suits and such all day. No issues came from this but it wasn’t what we expected from an all inclusive. The resort in whole: the pools were clean, and there were many beach chairs and cabanas to hide from the sun. Overall very well taken care of.
