A great resort!
If you read through the 4- and 5-star reviews, you will get an excellent idea of the experience at this resort: relaxing vibe, great food, very well kept grounds and pools and a staff that seem to be totally focussed on making your experience fantastic. Yes, there may be the odd imperfection, some of which are noted in the reviews with lower ratings, but to us, they never rose to the level of needing to take away a star. Plus, the management is working hard to address the imperfections - it's a process. A recent review noted that there are only three dinner restaurants to choose from. While that is an accuate statement, what they didn't mention was that each restaurant has two menus that alternated nights - Olena: Mediterranean and Italian; Amaya: Asian and Steak House; Piragua: Mexican and Caribbean. When added to the Dominican buffet at the pool one night, we were able to eat off a different menu every night during the week. Also not expected, Indigo had a buffet in addition to a la carte, if you just wanted a quick breakfast. And, CocoCafe had small sandwiches at lunch, if you just wanted something to hold you over to dinner. The food was generally very good, although there was the occasional miss. One example was the "Classic Fajitas" at Piragua. They might have been a chef's interpretation of fajitas, but they weren't Classic Fajitas. Not everyone will like every dish that is available. But it's part of the experience. You can always order room service. As said, the food was generally very good. Our favorite restaurant was Olena. As mentioned, the staff are incredible, and obviously well trained. Our thanks to: Indigo: Frank, Eduardo (Mr. Coffee), Pahola, Melane, Brenda, plus Serginia and Geraldine who were the first smiling faces we saw each morning. My apologies to the other ladies whose names I unfortunately I can't remember. Olena: Felix, "Super" Luis, Marlene, Sorenya (?) CocoCafe: Marissa Lobby Bar: Rosie Housekeeping: Juona And our concierge: Alejandro Please change the corporate policy and have the staff wear name tags. I would rather address people by their names. Everyone says "welcome home". Well, I know the names of everyone at my home. Please reconsider.
Great place to stay
Great staff. Clean property Great service . Beautiful beach and rooms are clean Javier from UVC was great to deal with and answered all our questions Alejandro the concierge was always friendly and met with us every day and provided great service to me and my wife. 6 DAY BIRTHDAY TRIP/ GREAT RESORT (5 Star with a few updates needed)
We have stayed at several Sandals, Excellence, Secrets and Breathless Resorts and this was our favorite. This is and AMAZING place for those that want smaller (100 rooms) , quiet and beautiful grounds. We had a walk out OF Room with plunge pool. Staff was fantastic (ask for Ray Ray as your concierge/butler) and very attentive and friendly. Beautiful beach with no other shared resorts or beach vendors (just a few approved ones) .Beach huts, no crowds and river pools through out. Super clean resort! Only a few minor cons: 4 restaurants ( 1 was lunch and breakfast) and no real buffet other than breakfast .Plenty of on-menu options for all meals and dinner choices rotated. Food was very good but maybe not for foodies. We really liked the 24 hour delivery including my wife'sbirthday dinner on our patio. Some entertainment at night . Drinks were hit or miss and the lobby bar was top notch (its all about the bartender!) Gym equipment needs upgrading and room floors and furniture were beat up . Spa really nice! Horsesback rides on the beach. This is truly a 5 Star resort but still needs some updates which Hyatt is in the midst of. Highly recommend this resort for a super-relaxing vacation!!
Great resort but go in with eyes wide open about negatives!
There were so many great things about this resort and a few negatives. Positives: the food was amazing. (Although note it says 5 restaurants, it's really 3 restaurants--one beach cabana type spot for lunch, and a coffee shop--so really only 3 restaurants for dinner.) The resort grounds are very spa-like and zen so you feel like you're on a retreat. I also loved the rooms themselves. The whole place was very peaceful and is great for couples. I wouldn't recommend it for a family with young kids. We had a couples massage and it was amazing. Now, a few negatives. 1. Be prepared to be constantly up-sold on activities, time-shares, etc. It was annoying and detracted from our visit. 2. You get a personal concierge who is supposed to help you plan activities etc. Ours was pretty much useless, messed up our dinner reservation on NYE so we didn't have one, and just wasn't helpful. Ours also gave us a tour of the property and did not take us to the spa, gym, or the amazing hot tub. So we didn't even know about the hot tub until half way through our trip! 3. Laundry is included but you have to itemize every piece of laundry which is annoying and they don't tell you it up front. 4. They say they are giving you a large amount of resort credit for spa services and activities but it has to be "activated" right away or you lose it, and it's broken down into $20 toward a bottle of wine, $80 toward a private dinner, $60 toward a spa service (amounts approximate) so you end up either not using all of it or being upsold on paying the rest. 5. The gym is very small and unimpressive. Would be nice if they added at least one Peloton, and more importantly the (very few) exercise classes are a joke. I did yoga and pilates and they were taught by what seemed like random people who work at the resort and were not good at all. Plus, I showed up to the location listed in the schedule for the day and it was not the right location. Same for the time listed. 6. The beach is beautiful and there are great lounge chairs but beware of the coral rocks in the water! I love swimming in the ocean and it looks like it's sandy when you go in but there are massive coral rocks that you can't see and then you bump into them or step on them and cut up your feet. I know this review now mostly seems negative but we really did have a wonderful stay. I just want to point out the negatives that I wish I'd known before I went.
Absolutely amazing place!!!
My wife and I just came back from 7 days at Zoetry and it was amazing! Guests are truly pampered from the moment you step onto the property until the second you leave. It was honestly the most relaxing place we have ever been to and we are already planning a return trip.
