Don’t stay here
Noise level was crazy in the halls and through the walls/ceiling. Pool area was not clean; had no towels. When I asked for towels the staff person went on a rant about how guests take the towels to their rooms. Breakfast area was a disaster.

Edmonton Mini Vacay
The bed and pillows were great. However the pool is too small for adults to really use and the wifi is not very good at all. The green space for pets is very nice and the breakfasts are fantastic! We also loved the food at Homefire.

Definitely recommend this hotel
The staff are super helpful when we needed things like extra towels or toiletries. The pool is great if you have kids and it's got chairs to sit on the side if you don't want to swim. The bed, pillows and down blanket are super comfortable and I was able to have a great sleep. The rooms have flat-screen tvs, mini fridge and a small microwave. There is a coin laundry room on the main floor. $1.75 to wash and $1.25 to dry which is a great price to have to do laundry weekly. It's a nice quiet hotel to rest and relax in the room. We have been here evacuated from our home community for 2 weeks so far and I feel very well taken care of.

Saved!!
On August 17-23 my wife and I with two cats had to evacuate Yellowknife due to wild fires. We called the Wingate the day before about pet friendly rooms but all were booked. I then booked with a hotel just nearby the Wingate for five nights. This was done with a booking site.(mistake). After a 17 hour drive we arrived at the other hotel and were tuned away as the room booked was not pet friendly. Over the phone the day before it was confirmed as pet friendly. This was extremely distressing but we decided to just go over to the Wingate and see if they could help us even if it was with booking another hotel. I have stayed at the Wingate many times in the past and to us it was worth a try. By the time we got to the Wingate it was now 1:30 am. EJ was behind the front desk and we explained our situation. EJ without hesitation said he had a pet friendly room. Wow!! We were so grateful! The only problem was we had to be out the next day. We knew that we could go to the Edmonton evacuation center in the morning to sort out additional accommodation. In the morning we saw Darrel the sales manager at the front desk. I explained how EJ had helped us but we had to check out soon. Darrel said to me "Do not leave the Wingate. Just get your armband from the Evac Center and we will take care of you here". I could not believe it. I was almost in tears. We went to the Center and now the Red Cross is taking care of our file at Wingate. EJ and Darrel handled this true hospitality "moment of truth" the right way. It will never be forgotten and my wife and I are very grateful.

Excellent!
This is a great family hotel! When we first entered the hotel, I couldn't believe how nice it was for the price. It was one of the only hotels in Edmonton I could find that both had a pool and allowed pets. We were very happy with our room and had no complaints. The location is great - an easy to drive to West Edmonton Mall or to get on the Henday to go around the city. The breakfast area could be a bit busy - maybe going a bit earlier would be less crowded. Overall, we would absolutely stay here again!
