    Not Marriott standards in service and attitude except for RJ the valet. Place nice, attitudes not!

    Not a great experience except for the valet RJ! He literally saved the review! We arrived at the hotel at 2:40pm. Of course, we could not check-in until 4. They said they would contact us when the room was ready. At 4:30, we still had not received notification. During the wait, I went to ask the concierge a question. He was not helpful and a bit rude. I went back to my nice rocking chair and waited. At 4:45, I got back in line to check on the room. Two people in front and it still took 37 minutes. Our room was ready, but the check in lady didn’t even offer us a polite smile or simple greeting. It was like we were a nuisance checking in. The room was fine. The pools were beautiful. The next morning, we were headed out for the day. I was on crutches so my husband came to pick me up. RJ, the valet, started talking. He asked about the plans for the day. He offered suggestions to our plan. He offered towels for our swim but we had our own. He was so friendly and kind and just made me feel better. Was it the crutches??? I had not planned on getting hurt. I had planned on having a great time at the Marriott but instead I have almost no desire to return. Maybe service and attitude are less than stellar since there is one other Marriott resort and a Westin so Marriott fans have little choice.

    Excellent Marriott Property

    My in-laws are Marriott Vacation Club members so I've stayed at quite a few of their properties now, this is by far the nicest I've ever stayed at. The grounds are extremely clean and immaculate. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, filled with amenities. We had an excellent pool/ocean view from our balcony and enjoyed waking up to it every morning. The pool was incredible and so were the hot tubs. I heard some people complaining that were weren't closer to the beach but that's because of the cool fish ponds which is so unique and fun. I will say the beach is pretty rocky and the water is pretty murky which kept me from swimming in the ocean very much. We had excellent service everywhere from the front desk, to concierge, to the bar, it was all great. The prices on property for food & bev are high but what do you expect you know? It's a resort. I thought the shop was cute and had a decent merch selection. Bottom line? I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.

    Beautiful beach. Very friendly and professional staff

    Beautiful resort. Well maintained grounds and rooms. I am a platinum elite Bonvoy member. I should have been given an upgraded room (not one that overlooks the parking lot). But somehow that got screwed up. When I brought it to management attention- they were more than apologetic. Elizabeth (front desk manager) and Kristy ( platinum and titanium concierge) immediately sought to make things right. We appreciated their professionalism. I am entitled to late check out - but again the front desk brushed me off. Elizabeth and Kristy also rectified that. Not sure where the communication gap is - but they are on it. Luau is a bit pricey but the food and drinks were good. Matthew and Kathy (concierges) were helpful with tour and dining suggestions. If you want an off property good quick meal, check out the Island Market which is within walking distance. The beach has lovely, clear, calm water with a sandy bottom and the occasional sea turtle floating by. You must maintain a 10 ft distance. Staff is friendly and professional. We would stay again.

    Best Wedding Destination in Big Island

    I was staying at the resort for my best friend’s wedding and we greatly appreciated the excellent accommodation and services the resort has provided to our group. From accommodating our group room block with early check in for some rooms that arrived early for the rehearsal, to well executing the wedding ceremony and reception, we had the most wonderful time celebrating our friend’s celebration here. The reception at the open terrace under the Hawaiian sunset was so magical, we couldn’t stop reminiscing it!! Half of us works in hotel operations and management so we come in with high expectations and the team at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa absolutely exceeded it. It took a village from multiple departments to deliver consistent top-notch services and we thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts for your hard work and dedication with Alyssa & Riston’s wedding! Mahalo Núi Loa!

    Everyone got sick

    This was our 4th time visiting this resort. We love the proximity to the beach, pools and restaurants . (Compared to Hilton next door which is huge) We are Marriott Vacation Club members but couldn’t get the room so booked the hotel side. Requested bigger room because of older kids. We got the Ohana room which was specious. After two nights, slowly we started feeling sick. We noticed that if we were outdoors we were fine but indoors was horrible. My son who likes AC, shut it off claiming it was making us sick. The last two days were miserable. We are back home but still very sick. Don’t know if there was black mold or some allergens. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. Never mentioned to the management as we were too sick to deal with it. Flight back was just as miserable. They need to deep clean the hotel.
