Villa Del Arco, Cabo. Several Families Rushed to Emergency Room Apr 2023
On the evening of April 09, 2023 (Sunday), my wife and our friends went to a quiet dinner outside of Villa Del Arco and returned back to our room (room 1207 A and B) by 9:00 pm. We were excited because we were going on a deep-sea fishing trip early the next morning and everyone agreed to meet at 5:00 am in our kitchen area the next morning so we could take a taxi to the marina. WE DIDN’T MAKE OUR FISHING TRIP! When we got back to the resort from dinner (9:00 pm) we all went to our bedrooms to get our supplies ready for the upcoming fishing trip. By 10:00 pm, my wife and I were in bed. My wife said she was feeling really confused and she even started to feel dizzy. I told her I felt the same and my heart started to beat fast, I couldn’t understand what was happening. I tried to stand up and get a glass of water, thinking this would help. I took a couple steps and found I couldn’t support myself; my legs were terribly weak, and I slowly lowered myself to the floor. My wife asked what was wrong and that was the last time I talked to her until we were in the emergency room at the local hospital. We both lost consciousness and were found the following morning at 3:00 am on the bedroom floor by our friends. Specifically, I was laying in piles of vomit and my own feces. Our friends said they called the front desk immediately and a group of people came to our room, along with the paramedics and they transported us to the emergency room by ambulance. The good news is our friends were smart enough to take many photos so this report couldn’t be discounted or disputed. When I woke up, I was in the ER and I was later admitted to the hospital for observation. I was released 12 hours later with several prescriptions to help me recover. When we returned back to our room, we found out our friends had also been overcome by carbon monoxide and 1 of them had to go to the ER room too for treatment . Once they returned from the hospital, we tried to figure out what happened. Was it the tacos at Moscino’s, the steak? No, it had nothing to do with food or drink. Later that day we were told several other people were transported to the hospital that same evening and one lady was admitted for quite some time. Yes, we found out there were many families that experienced the exact same trauma that we endured that evening. It was later told that one specific guest there (no name mentioned) suspected carbon monoxide poisoning and she and her husband started knocking on doors and telling people to open their front doors and their patio doors so the gas could escape. If it wasn’t for them, there could have been more than just emergency room visits and hospital admissions. I was told the resort manager got very upset with them for acting like this. I’m glad they did. What’s in common? All of us were staying in rooms very close to each other, very close to the gas operated boiler that heats the water. It took me until Thursday to feel well enough to get out of bed, at which time I called the front office (several times) to get more information about this incident and told them who I was, my room number and my concern. I was told the general manager was not available, but he would get in touch with us. After continuous calls to them, I went to the front desk and demanded that I see him. They said he was not available but would be sure to give him the message. Over the course of the next 2 days, we were able to talk to the other guests that had been overcome by carbon monoxide. They apparently had a little more luck talking to the general manager and educated him about his responsibilities, and his priority should have been to take care of the personal safety of his guests. He didn’t see it that way and tried several times to push them away. I heard that he said that all of the guests probably have insurance, so let them cover their own expenses. To me, he failed to contact us and show any sense of concern for us. A person with such little concern or compassion shouldn’t be in a leadership position. I certainly understand things can go wrong in business, but it’s how you handle the failures is what matters. To bring this to an end, yes, I have the names of the families that were affected the same as us. To be honest, I wouldn’t have written this review if the general manager would have reached out to us and tried to make things right. I was advised to wait 5 weeks before writing this, which should have given him enough time to contact us. This won’t be the last time for me notifying the public of this case of such gross negligence, as I have many more places to post this. In the next 4 weeks, there will be a significant elevated complaint made with parent company to voice my concerns. I actually contacted 2 investigative reporters in Cabo and they showed a great deal of interest in this matter, so we’re done yet. This can easily be resolved but it will likely take the parent company to intervene. For the record, our family has been timeshare holders with the Villa group (Villa Del Palmar) for many years, so it’s tremendously disappointing for me to be so neglected when I needed their support the most.

The accommodations were ideal, clean and well stocked. Grounds were immaculate with staff constantly picking up and cleaning. Elizabeth and Gloria provided us some delicious breakfasts and make amazing omelets and quesadillas. Always friendly and ready to help. Location to town was perfect and hotel is right on the beach

South American Grill
Ate at the South American Grill twice during my stay, and it was my favorite of all the restaurants at the resort. Splurge on the Turf and Surf - the presentation is great. The steak was one of the best I've had. Shout out to our waiter Jesus - he was extremely helpful and conscientious!

Great family trip
We love coming to Villa del Arco. The staff is so friendly and treats our family with so much attention and care. Juan was our server at the pool the whole week and was so attentive and always went above and beyond…remembering our orders and bringing us drinks before we even had to ask, bringing our orders to us when we weren’t in our seats, and always being attentive and kind

Entertainment and classes
Ou room had great views, impeccable maid service, and very attentive staff met our needs. One of our highlights of our stay was seeing the events they offered. Tortilla class and barbacoa making. We tremendously enjoyed the Grease Show and meeting the dancers. Alana was great and very cordial. We also met Alana at the bingo game . Talking to her seeing her entertain us was one of the highlights of this stay.
