Very pretty resort, not much more than that.

I’m here now on my last night of vacation, and there are very nice parts of the resort and others that aren’t great. The good: the resort is beautiful. It’s much better kept than Villa del Palmer, which doesn’t seem to have much attention paid to it. The grounds are immaculate, and all day long employees are cleaning or painting something to make sure everything is perfect. It’s stunning. The food is pretty good. The Taco Bar is really the best option, and it’s really good. Try the cheese taco- no tortilla, just grilled cheese with filling. So good. Room service was very fast. Room 3204A is a one bedroom suite that is not charged as an ocean view but absolutely is- the view is lovely. However, you’ll also have to deal with the lights and noise from the pirate ship restaurant and the pool. Bring ear plugs and a sleeping mask and you’ll be all set. The bad: the employees are nice. Just regular nice. They don’t go above and beyond. They do exactly what they are supposed to and not one thing more. Not one inch. They are somewhat kind, not overly friendly. Everyone I met outside of the resort was more friendly and kind than the employees at the resort. I asked for bottled waters before a restaurant had opened officially for the day and was told no because they couldn’t ring it up. I’m on the all inclusive plan— I’d already paid for all of my food and water. But, no, they have a strict policy of needing the receipt signed, even for water, so no. No, I couldn’t come back later and sign the ticket. I don’t blame the employees who have not been empowered to do anything outside of the strict receipt requirement, I blame management. Review after review on here complain about the requirement to stay and sign your check even though you aren’t paying anything, and still nothing is done. If you want bottled water in off hours, you have to order room service. Every single time you ask for a towel they want to know your room number. Why? Who knows. We are wearing wrist bands stating we are guests of the resort but still they ask can tell the servers are working hard. There just aren’t enough of them. It was so cold most nights we couldn’t dine outside, but they only have outside options. They do bring you blankets which is so kind but why not have heaters out there? The ugly: a round trip shuttle from the airport was included in our AI package, but I could never get anyone on the phone to make the reservation (called several times, once was on hold for more than half an hour and then hung up on), and also emailed them- no response. I mentioned it at checkin and they said they’d look into it and call me with information. They never did. The ugly: my 9 year old son and I were yelled at on our first day by an employee who wanted my son to wash the sand off of his feet at the top of the stairs from the beach. We were stunned and kind of stood there a moment so he yelled again. Uh… welcome to arcos? The breakfast is ok, Neptune has the most stunning view but the food was just ok. You can’t get anything to go- you have to sit there and eat or go to your room and order room service. If you do that, the big pretzel is really good- not the actual pretzel but the fruit and cheese piled on top of it is very good. Fruit plate also good. The buffet at the show at Palmar is truly terrible. Eat before you go, if you go. Also, I was told when I booked my vacation with the resort that we would be welcome at the other resort. I thought that meant the pools. It doesn’t. We can only use the Arcos pools which is a bummer because they are usually very cold, aside from one, and the hot tubs aren’t hot. Our kids would have loved the slide, and I felt misled by the reservations person. All things said- it’s fine. Not great. We are generally happy but we will try Grand Velas next time.

    Breakfast at Villa del Arco

We didn't stay here for our trip but we were treated to a breakfast on the ship, breakfast buffet was good but a little small, i understand they are doing rentivations on the place that usually serves breakfast so that's the reasonfor the 4 instead of a 5, the view while eating is nice and our server Elizabeth was a gracious host.

Great time at Villa Del Arco

The resort was wonderful. Eddie at the Neptune Seafood restaurant was great .Veronica at the breakfast buffet was fantastic. They both made my stay memorable. I loved the security at the resort as I felt safe. Loved the free shuttle that stopped at the other resorts. Also loved the Spa.

    Enjoyable Vacation

Great service. Beautiful resort well maintained. Awesome bell men especially Mariano and Gabriel. Beautiful spa, expensive but worth it. We go every year in a one bedroom unit. Don’t do all inclusive because there are too many fantastic restaurants in town. Monica our housekeeper was top notch.
