Service Has Tanked at a Former Favorite
We first visited Sapphire Falls in 2018. We were absolutely wowed, and I left a rave, detailed review. We returned for my 40th birthday and were dismayed that the customer service has completely tanked. We booked through Amex Travel, which is supposed to come with late check out and an upgraded room. We got the exact opposite, with jarringly bad customer service from check in to check out. The Room Per the website, there are pool and lagoon view rooms, and you can't go wrong with either. We loved our room in 2018. This trip we learned there's a third room type- The Parking Lot View. After we checked in as repeat guests celebrating a milestone birthday, they gave us a room on the same floor as the lobby with a view of the parking lot. So we were awakened early each morning by the families leaving to do Orlando things, kids tantruming, etc. We couldn't open the curtains without being on full display. Even better, the employee smoking bench was right in front of our window so we got to smell cigarettes all day. I asked every day in our four day stay to be moved and they refused. The Check Out Racket We spent four nights and $$$ at Sapphire Falls. The day we were checking out, my husband had a Zoom meeting until noon. I asked to check out at noon. (Again, the Amex package is supposed to include a 4 p.m. guaranteed checkout! Which the Loews sister property down the road honored). They refused to extend our checkout unless we paid a $100 fee! I spent 30 minutes in the lobby moving up the chain of command and no manager would waive the $100 fee for an extra hour in the D list room. I thought it was a really strange choice in customer service. Would you rather have $100 over a repeat visit? The Amenities Although the terrible service put a damper on the relaxation, the amenities are still lovely and the hotel has kept up the gym and the pool in the last four years. The glaring exception was the hot tub chemicals. The hot tub completely bleached/ ruined TWO brand new bathing suits on two different days. I would expect a hotel in this price range to have spa maintenance more dialed in. I had recommended SF to everyone I knew visiting Orlando for the past four years, and chose to return for a special birthday. I'm sad they did such a 180 on their customer service. I will have to find a new pool paradise in Orlando.
New favorite Orlando hotel
Bedding heavenly. Nice Kuerig coffeemaker in room. Have stayed here before and was not disappointed on this return visit. Amitista is one of the best hotel restaurants we have ever eaten at and has superb service. Lobby immaculate. Had conventioneers staying there but other than riding with them on the elevator would never know it. Such a room hotel. Nice pool area. Check in was a breeze. Called for more towels and coffee and they came right away. Bell service was prompt coming and going. Beautiful grounds. Ferry to Universal and Citywalk prompt and frequent. Friendly service always with a smile. Could not be happier. Have stayed on property at Sianey for 20 years at both moderates and deluxe and this hotel beats Disney hotels hands down and twice on Sundays. Better price, nicer rooms, much better service.
Hotel is fantastic. Love the spacious lobby and friendly staff, and very convenient to the parks. One drawback was the fact that it is not considered a “luxury resort” therefore, does not qualify for the fast line experience that comes complimentary w the 3 that are, even though it is within the park. I’ve stayed @ them all and all are fantastic, however, in my opinion, this hotel is just as “luxury “ as the others.(Potifino bay, Hard rock, & Royal pacific) I actually like this one more a bit more than hard rock or royal pacific. Newer, cleaner. Better lobby!
Friendly staff. My original reservation, booked in September, was for 4 nights. We had a work situation that warranted us changing to a 2 night reservation. In doing so, we had to make 2 separate one night reservations. Certainly not ideal. U was told to keep checking but no room for 2 consecutive nights opened up. When I checked into the hotel, the young lady at the front desk, Hope, was able to find me a room that we could be in for both nights and we were given a balcony room. And to top it off, our room was ready, when I was done checking in, right around 12:30PM. A resolution, an upgrade AND an early check-in. Woohoo!! Late that evening, a charm from my necklace fell down bathroom sink drain. Yikes. No problem at this resort, Engineering was sent quickly to retrieve it. Then he handed the charm to me, washed and dried, and with a smile. Also saying they are available 24 hours a day. Despite all of the positives, I must say that I found pillow’s uncomfortable. Too thick, I think. They would good for being propped up to watch tv but for sleeping, seemed too dense. Also, I can definitely appreciate a good tuck on the bedding but this tucking was next level. Mummy tight. We loved being able to take the boat over to CityWalk. Super convenient. Also walked over once and the walk was nice. Landscaping could use some TLC. Overall a great experience. Would definitely stay here again
Favorite UO Hotel
My husband and I absolutely LOVE this hotel. We have stayed there many times. We love the smell of the lobby. The beds are so soft and comfortable. Even the cleaning staff is friendly. Anytime we have ever had any questions or issues, the hotel staff always delivers. The best restaurants of any of the hotels are also on site.
