Don't bother staying here
"During our recent stay at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa in Maui, Hawaii, from May 25th to May 30th, 2025, we unfortunately encountered numerous problems that made our experience quite disappointing. We initially booked a room based on the photos we saw on the Marriott Bonvoy website, but they turned out to be misleading and confusing. To clarify the situation, we called the hotel directly on three separate occasions, speaking with different staff members each time, to confirm that all the rooms had been upgraded. We were reassured that they were, but upon arrival, we were given a non-remodeled room that was old, dirty, smelly, and surprisingly small. The size of the room posed a challenge for us, as even our child's crib barely fit without obstructing our movement. Frustratingly, we were left with no choice but to pay a significant additional amount on top of the already substantial cost of our stay (300k) to upgrade our room. We were moved to the new tower, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, the issues persisted. The water in the shower fluctuated between hot and cold, making it difficult to enjoy a comfortable bathing experience. Moreover, we were dismayed to discover the presence of bugs in our room, which was absolutely repulsive. Considering the inconvenience and the subpar conditions we encountered, it is disheartening to think that our expectations were not met. The lack of clarity regarding the room upgrades and the subsequent issues we faced significantly marred our stay at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa. The pool experience at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa was also a source of disappointment during our stay. The pool area was crowded, and it was evident that the hotel did not adequately prepare for the number of guests. There were a limited number of umbrellas available, leaving many guests without proper shade and protection from the sun. Additionally, the 60-minute rule for reserving chairs on the deck was not enforced, resulting in an unfair distribution of seating options. Not only were there insufficient amenities, but the pool itself was also cold and dirty, further detracting from our enjoyment. As parents with a toddler, it was particularly challenging to relax by the pool while constantly worrying about sunburn and the lack of suitable seating options. Adding to the disappointment, there was a noticeable shortage of servers in the pool area. The few servers present seemed overwhelmed, struggling to attend to all the guests. This was particularly evident during the busy Memorial Day weekend. It is surprising that the management did not anticipate the higher demand and plan accordingly to ensure adequate coverage and service. To make matters worse, it was a struggle to find a server willing to assist us. We had to approach multiple non-serving staff members to request help in locating a server. When we finally managed to find one, the server displayed an unhelpful and indifferent attitude, as if doing us a favor. This experience was even more disheartening, considering we had a small child with us, and it would have been beneficial to receive prompt and attentive service. Overall, our pool experience at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa fell far below expectations. The lack of proper amenities, overcrowding, disregard for the 60-minute rule, cold and dirty pool, and insufficient poolside service all contributed to a disappointing stay. We sincerely hope that the management addresses these issues to ensure a more enjoyable experience for future guests, especially those with young children. Although we must acknowledge that some of the staff members were friendly and tried to address our concerns, the overall experience fell far below our expectations, as did the remedies offered by staff. We feel that the hotel should have been more transparent about the room conditions and should have provided us with a suitable room from the start. The problems with the shower and the presence of bugs further exacerbated our dissatisfaction. Given our experience, we cannot in good conscience recommend the Westin Maui Resort and Spa to others. We hope that the management takes these issues seriously and takes steps to improve the quality and consistency of their accommodations to ensure a more pleasant stay for future guests.

Misrepresention
I exchanged my premium Marriott Las Vegas timeshare into Interval. I requested a Hawaiian island exchange with an ocean view. Within one week I was assigned to the Westin Maui resort and spa in Ka’anapali with a requested ocean view. When we arrived, our room was not ready, but that was just a minor inconvenience. However, when we got up to our room, it had absolutely no ocean view. All of my confirmations with the hotel had noted my preference for an ocean view. I called the desk and expressed my displeasure, and I was told that the deeded property I was assigned said it had an ocean view. I asked the clerk if she wanted to come up and see that there was no ocean view. No response. After more discussion, the clerk asked if I wanted to speak directly with a manager - I said yes; no manager ever contacted me. I am an owner of a hotel property in Santa Barbara which has lagoon views and mountain views. The staff never misrepresent what the customer is going to be viewing. I also have a deeded Maui timeshare with an ocean view, and I hope that no one is told , if I exchange the property, that they have an ocean view, when it has been totally occluded by vegetation.

Nice place. Rooms need upgrading.
Great place to stay. So many staff members to name that were helpful, kind, & went out of their way. Two concierge, Jackie & Karen, emailed me often to prepare us for our trip. The housekeeping staff were excellent in keeping our rooms clean. The only negative was Westin needs to upgrade their rooms. Carpet is old, dirty, & worn. Furniture is outdated. Vanity mirror shows age areas. For amount you pay, you expect better looking rooms.

Nice, but expensive
The room is underwhelming; below a typical Holiday Inn Express standard room, but it is adequate with a mini fridge, plenty of towels, and a lanai with an amazing view (if you get beach view instead of mountain view). You don't want to spend vacation in your room though, and the premesis is exquisite. Coy pond, flamingos, lush trees and shrubbery, fun pools for both adults and children, beach access... I do not disagree with where the money was spent, which is outside of your room. The gym has way more equipment than a typical Holiday Inn Express, and it had nice features like cooled towels and cooled water station. I enjoy a resort for 2-4 days and then have enough. Much preferred the 2nd half our our vacation at Kihei at an ABNB. Enjoyed my stay at Westin, playing on the slides with my young daughters, the easy access to Baby Beach, the sunset sail, and just walking the beachfront strip, but there's only so many days of that to hold one's interest. I have no complaints, but that was easily the most expensive place I've ever stayed. Parking is insanely expensive at $40/day. Reminds me of Waikiki, which is a huge disappointment. Don't go there unless you enjoy the feeling of hemorrhaging money in exchange for acceptable experiences.
