Safe…. Not working Tv…. Not working Phone in room… not working Lobby has day hours only.. no mornings. No evenings Far from downtown Is part of hilton but would not take my honors number Bathroom has sliding barn door… no pooping privacy But pool area loaded with iguanas and chickens and their poop Room was clean

Decent Hotel/Questionable Staff
The hotel itself was fine overall. I wish I could say the same about the staff. When we checked out, I asked that a receipt be emailed to me. I gave the man at the front desk my email address, but nothing ever came. Since then I've called twice, and emailed them twice, requesting a receipt. The result........nothing. While this may seem like a small matter, it's enough to convince me never to stay there again should I visit Key West.

My husband is severely mobility disabled. I booked a king size accessible room with a roll in shower six months ahead of our visit. I called a couple of months later to verify the reservation. About three weeks prior to check in I read on Trip Advisor that the accessible room had platform bed and the Gates had accommodated a husband by adding another mattress to raise it up. I called again and said I would need this accommodation. When we checked in we were given a room with a tub. When I argued this was not what I reserved I was told that someone else was in that room but they were checking out the next day. When we got in the reserved room there was indeed a platform bed. I asked that a mattress be added so my husband could in and out of bed unassisted. I was told they didn’t have another mattress. We spent 6 nights with me having to assist him getting out of bed.

Bar staff and front desk staff were a pleasure. Loved the shuttle service to Duval. Overall good experience. It was nice having access to all four of their properties. The only thing I would ask is better options for breakfast from the food truck. Portions were small for the price. Lunch menu was good though.

The Gates was absolutely wonderful!!! loved the rooms, the pool, the drinks, the food, the staff!! Will def stay here on our next trip, The only thing I wish would have been different was a drop off on the shuttle right on Duvall St, a family member we had with us, gets easily wore out walking due to some health issues. We were dropped off 3 plus blocks from Duval and he was exhausted by the time we got to the street. I dont see the harm in them driving a few more blocks. At least while on Duvall St, one doesnt have to walk very far and can take a break. Scharm, the bartender at Rum Row, GREAT!!! As was Ty, and also the morning bartender for breakfast at the pool bar at 24* north.
