    Friendly, safe, great service!

A+ hospitality! The staff and concierge are very attentive and friendly. This was my first stay at an All-inclusive resort, and first visit to Mexico! Sunset Plaza Beach Resort is great for newbies. Very easy access to the beach, and the views of the sunset are amazing. Each room overlooks the beach. They have a few restaurants with different cuisines each day. I will say the menus are not extensive, but the food is prepared well. They have a kiddie play area, spa, and fitness center, and other activities. The pools and jacuzzi are perfect temperatures. The resort is small, and quiet, and very easy to walk. They are undergoing extensive renovation, building a new tower. The only downside was the noise from construction, but it was tolerable. You can hear the ocean waves from your room. If you can, take one of the city tours that are offered to view more of Puerto Vallarta. I can't wait to come back again! *Special thank you to: Lorenzo, Reyna, Luis, and Rosa!* 🙂

    Nice rooms- TERRIBLE FOOD

We stayed here for three nights and we had an AMAZING suite with a view of the pools below AND the ocean. The staff here were great. However, I dislike that they were pushing that Beach Boy excursion at Los Arcos and Las Animas. That was an awful experience. Don't do it. We didn't have the opportunity to eat at Lucciano, but we ate at the other two places: Mirador and Al Fresko. The pastries at Al Fresko weren't that great. The food at Mirador was unappetizing and I couldnt stand it. Even the food on Mexican night was disappointing and I dont even know how that happened. The best meal I ate was a bowl of fruit loops. We had a kichenette and could've made our own meals or went to a different restaurant, but we had all-inclusive. I thought the food would get better, but it didn't. I even got food poisoning and was up all night puking out of both ends. If we had known the food was going to be this bad, we never would've gotten all-inclusive. Overall, great rooms, but look elsewhere for food.

    Great stay

My wife and I stayed at the Sunset Plaza for 9 days in the first part of May. Here is my rundown for this resort. Restaurants/Food- Two main restaurants for dinner, reservation is needed but we never had a problem getting on the list anytime of the day. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant at the main pool, they also have pizza and a pastry/coffee shop also. Lunch menu is also available at the pool. Ask your server for the menu and he will take your order and bring it to you. The food was really good at all the options available, one of the best all-inclusive food we had. And it really worked well not having a buffet, food always came out super-fast. Tipping: We really tipped a lot, it goes along ways with the employees. Construction on the new addition was never a problem with noise. We heard more noise from the resort next door, the music was kind of loud but stopped at 10pm ever night. Pools: main pool with swim-up bar is for kids and adults, there is a smaller adults only pool . this is the one we swim at every day. Never saw any kids using it, they do have kiddy pools also for the very young ones. At the adult pool you will find many lounger chairs and 6 cabanas, only the first two cabanas are reserved for VIP guest, if unoccupied after 11am then its open for any adult guest. Pool lounger towel game, Never a issue here, if you really like a special spot at the pool for the day just get down there around 8 am and it will be available. You can get to the pool at 10 or 11 am and still have plenty of places to park your stuff and swim. This was a very big surprise for us to see so many open chairs throughout the day. Beach: the beach is very nice, a few chairs on the sand to relax at, but many just hung out at the pool facing the beach. Rooms: we had the double queen bed room (#515 next to construction). Rooms are getting dated and can use a remodel, but still very clean. Shower hot water was never really that hot, and the valve to adjust the water temperature was backwards ( learning curve ). Construction was never a problem at this end of the building. Our butler’s name was Manny, Very nice and helpful. Room service is available with limited menu, we only did breakfast for out last day there. Taxi’s: you can have the guy out front call you a taxi or get yourself a Uber, they will come the front to pick you up and drop you off. A taxi from there to the middle of the Malecon is 80 pesos ( $4.50 usd) . Money exchange can be done at the counter where you check in at, I recommend you do that. The big negatives I have. The resort needs to pay more attention to keeping the pool cleaned, and or a better filtration system at the adult pool. Staff needs better attention to keeping the whole pool area cleaned throughout the day and pick up old towels and cups from the night before. That being said, we will definitely be back next year, we had an awesome time and can’t wait to return.

    Very nice stay

First time to PVR. We actually transferred here from a different resort I booked. Excellent service and staff. Kind and available. Clean grounds and rooms and very good food. I only gave 4 instead of 5 because the cable was very sketchy. Would go back.

    Relaxing in Mexico

From the moment we arrived to the day that we left, all personnel were very friendly and wonderful at the resort. Everyone knew us which felt more like family helping us out rather than employees. The pool was always clean and poolside service was terrific. Drinks from the bar were always delicious. The room was always clean and the beds and linens were nice. It is a small resort compared to the major chains that we were use to staying in on our Mexico trips but the atmosphere was very nice. We ate in town many of the evenings as that is something that we like to do. The food was okay and yet it can be improved on with having more of a selection. There was construction as they are building onto the existing hotel but the noise level was not extreme as many said in previous reviews. It stopped after 5pm. We upgraded to the wireless internet as it was faster than the free one but that was our choice- no complaints. All in all- we will return to this hotel in the future.
