Subpar Marriott property; avoid if you can
The view from the pool and beach are decent enough but the property is pretty subpar. Our “upgraded room” was a partial ocean view obstructed by a giant plywood wall painted green and a homeless encampment. One of the folks from this encampment seemed to be drunk, drove across the beach in front of the hotel, got stuck and started spinning his tires, and then drove on through to the encampment. I understand there have been some problems in the area as a result of the pandemic so I understand hotel staff may feel powerless to do anything about the overall situation, but it’s a pretty messed up experience to spend good money to look out over a homeless encampment. Locals seem to come here too which makes the pool area pretty crowded, and we also had a few encounters with passive aggressive staff. Overall my worst experience in any Marriott I’ve stayed in around the world.

Kinohi is the best server
Kinohi is an amazing server! She is attentive, knowledgeable, very kind and pays attention to detail. She helped give us local recommendations for all over the island. And she made the birthday girl feel so special.

Best Waitress- Kihohi
Kihohi was the best waitress we could have asked for. She checked in on our table frequently, she was so charismatic/sweet and answered all of our questions about both the food and the island!! <3 :,)

So so resort
We loved Art at the MoaMoa Restaurant! And we loved his bird of paradise napkins! The rest of the hotel was just ok. There is only one pool so it gets crowded and no adult only area. We spoke to someone at the pool who told us they weren’t guests but just liked to come over and enjoy the pool. We saw many many people at the pool without wristbands so we weren’t sure who were guests and who weren’t. It made me a little uneasy to know anybody could walk in and use the pool.

Great food
We stay at Sonesta, but we come into the Sheraton because they have excellent outdoor breakfasts. Great food all around. Gloria W is the embodiment of the spirit of aloha. We were lucky enough to have her as our waitress. She has a fountain of joy and her heart knows what it means to be of service.
