Secrets Wild Orchid Getaway
We stayed at Wild Orchid on May 24, 2023 to May 31, 2023. We traveled with our best friends and this was the 8th time we have stayed at this resort. Overall, the stay was good except the delay in our check-in, which seems to happen every time we have been there. we were able to just relax and enjoy the beach and water, while waiting for servers to bring us drinks on the beach, at times it was faster for me to walk up to the bar and order the drinks myself. For the most part most of the employees were very friendly and always had a smile on their faces. The breakfast buffet at the world cafe was good with a big selection of fruits, meats, and other breakfast items. The Himitsu was very good and we ate there 2 times during our stay, but you have to make reservations ahead of time. The only restaurant we didn't eat at was the Bordeaux, but the food at the other places was good. The highlight has always been the Jerk Chicken Cart, but the cart didn't makes the rounds until around 2-2:30 or later each day. The room was clean and comfortable, although we were not in it a lot. A few of the employees were excellent with us and I want to name a few of them. Kedeisha at the Barracuda Bar was always attentive to our needs and even when the blender was out of service, she went to another bar and made the Bailey's Banana Coloda for us. Another time when the blender wasn't working she said she would let me know when it was working even though I was on the beach. Great bartender. Ashtone is a lifeguard there and when I scratched my leg and it was bleeding he jumped into action and bandaged it for me. Shemar is a server on the beach and when he was on our side, he was very friendly and prompt with our drink orders. Kemar was a chef at the Himitsu and was funny and keep us entertained. Very friendly and was smiling the entire time. Saige is a security guard there and was so nice and friendly. I was able to speak to him several times and he remembered my name each and every time. Christine is a server at the World Cafe and was very attentive with coffee or whatever drinks we wanted and was smiling the entire time. She is very nice. It has been 3 years sine we were there last there due to the pandemic. We noticed the resort could use some upgrades and with Hyatt owning the resort now they have already done some of these upgrades, like new floorsand new furniture in the rooms and the AC just about ran us out each night as it stayed cold, but sleeping with covers on was the way to go. On the outside, some painting needs to be done on the buildings. A wonderful resort and a great time with friends.
Know before you go
Went for a week with husband, son and a a friend. I have good and bad comments to make. We had been to this resort before so I was semi-confident that we would have a good trip but rooms are in need of repair, especially the bathrooms. This resort is now 13 years old and showing wear and tear but for 4,000 plus a week the rooms should be in good condition. When complained to hotel about issues nothing was done, different accomadations were not made. Only one bar has known liquor labels. Restaurants were good and staff there was always great. One main issue was booking an excursion through the company Amstar located at the resort. They lied to us about the time it would take to and from excursion (we picked up guests from 4 other hotels there and back) which made what should have been a 6 hour round trip, a 12 hour round trip. If wanting to do excursions off the resort RENT YOUR OWN CAR AND GO THERE. Do not book through Amstar. They of course were unapologetic after the excursion. Told us it would take 1 1/2 hour travel time there and 1 1/2 hour travel time back but it is actually 3 hours both ways with them. Music at night can be loud up until 2 a.m. The beaches are beautiful but beware that this resort is a bit run down.
Ahmazing 20th anniversary at Seacrets Wild Orchid
This trip was planned for months in advanced. After looking through the reviews we clearly saw the disparate experiences between those who were in the Preferred Club and those who were not. We went on points and ensured that we could be in the Preferred Club - Swim up Jr Suite. We are super glad that we did since it eliminated all the hassle of having to make reservations for dinner (which are publically shared as not needed; yet all in preferred club have their butlers make their reservations days in advance sometimes). We arrived to the amazing Preferred Club Lounge where we poured ourselves some champagne while we waited for our room to be done. The resort did not seem to be at full occupancy because there were always beach chairs available. . . but it helped that each morning our butlers Duran and Darwin arranged for us to have a cooler of waters as well as two loungers in our favorite section ready and waiting for us. Some days we ate breakfast at the buffet - which was great. Other days we did room service - and yet other days we grabbed a bite in the Lounge. All were great options! I think I preferred the room service the best because the food was hot and fresh and made to order. The restaurants were amazing! We enjoyed Bordeaux the best and ate there twice. Ate at them all and was not displeased with any of our meals. As preferred we also got to experience the rooftop at the Breathless resort! That was AHHHMAZING. . . hot tub, amazing views, great drinks in the infinity pool and swim up bar! two thumbs up. We also had a great time at the Spa (at the other end of the resort by the St. James side). My husband had what he called the best massage of his life. . .and I enjoyed a fantastic pedicure. We both spent a significant amount of time in the Hydrotherapy circuit (sauna, steam room, ice cold plunge pool, massage pool, showers, hot tub etc) it was SUPER relaxing to spend the hour there so definitely arrive for your treatments early and make the most of your spa access!! My only dissappointment here was that they were not able to do facials. . . apparently the supplies/products had not come in. Overall, it was an amazing trip and the service was first class. . the resort was beautiful. It could use some tile replacements in the one jacuzzi and a repair to the other jacuzzi but other than that . . there was nothign to complain about. Lots of folks were off and running to excursions but we stayed at the resort each day and enjoyed ourselves and everything it had to offer. Would totally return and stay in the same level suite again! Thanks for an amazing 20th anniversary!!! Duran and Darwin outdid themselves making our day a surprise and sooo special!!! We felt like royalty!!!
Preferred Club is the way to go!
I had 2 Butlers (Devon & Davion) the best people ever, i got a cellphone just to talk them specifically. Matthew was another great person. I had a great time. I didn't have to lift a finger for nothing!. Food was amazing (French, Italian, hibachi, and the BUFFET) was slamming. The housekeeping was amazing, they cleaned my room twice a day,my room was restocked everytime woth snacks and drinks (free). The activities was great, water sport and access to other hotels. The beach was great. My butlers made all my reservations for everything (food, spa, outdoor tours, random food runs KFC and beef patties). They cart me and my friends when it rainor. Just being lazy when we were at another hotel. They negotiated outside taxi for us everytime. The spa was amazing, my and i all had great services. The only bad thing I experienced was the "timeshare" sale team was a bit rude and ask for you to be 40 and over and have half your day available. I didn't want to spend half a day of my vacation sitting in a presentation. We also did the resort photography.... the pictures came out amazing, kinda pricey but I still brought 14 pictures. I will be returning and stay at the preferred club specifically. Staff was friendly..as they say welcome home.
Wonderful stay at Secrets Wild Orchid
The resort was beautiful, the staff were very cheerful and the customer service was excellent. The food and beverages were awesome. Shout out to Matthew, he was great! Thanks for a wonderful experience.
