Adrian and Maria are the BEST!
Adrian and Maria at the market cafe area phenomenal. Couldn't ask for better service or better hosts. They made us feel welcome immediately and remembered our orders after the very first day. He even ensured we had a very special treat on our last day! Ask for them and you won't be disappointed!

Not as Good as our Last Visit
SECRETS This is an update since our last visit three years ago. At that time we enjoyed everything. The weather was a bit more humid this time and affected activity a bit. The service is still very good, but some of the food offerings had deteriorated since our last visit. The Gohan Sushi Bar at Secrets is very good, although the sashimi was bland. The best dish we had there was the tempura shrimp. It is often hard to find a table there in the outdoor patio in the afternoon, but the tempura is worth table hunting. Bordeaux was excellent as always. Great service from Simon and wonderful food. I was hoping they would have pate de foie gras on the menu again, but it was not there this visit. I had the duck entrée this time and it was superb, well seasoned and succulent. Second night at Bordeaux was kind of disappointing. The whitefish was somewhat fishy and did not flake off at all. Service was quite slow and white wine was, as in the recent visit, barely cold. Capers. This was a big disappointment. None of the food was particularly tasty. They introduced a little plate of Parmesan, olive oil and balsamic for bread dipping. The Parmesan was very low quality with nil taste, as was the olive oil. The Burrata came with a cheese that was tasteless, and the mini tomatoes with it were just as bland. The salmon was overcooked and my lemon chicken was so hard, I could not even eat more than the first bite. There was not even a hint of lemon flavor. I sent it back and did not want a replacement. My dessert was another disaster. It was a cannoli which the menu said was filled with ricotta. Instead, it was filled with whipped cream. What an affront to Italy. The complimentary house wine was a low cost Chilean sauvignon blanc. It was surprisingly good (Don Silvestre label). The Market Café is excellent for breakfast, with a wide variety of items on display. After a few days, it became a bit repetitious with the same items every morning. But we could not complain about the bounteous and tasty fare that was offered. The Bay Café, just off the lobby, serves a beautiful assortment of petit fours and hot drinks. It is a very pleasant place to visit, but never seemed to be particularly busy. Oceana. White wine was practically room temperature. The empanada was just dough. Tenderloin had a tasty sauce, but the beef itself was very tough and gristly. The calamari steak had good seasonings, but it was tough. The Baked Alaska for dessert was not a Baked Alaska in any sense of the word. It was a thin layer of ice cream over a tough layer of sponge cake with no baked meringue at all. We decided to go to Castaways, having tried on two separate days, but it was closed each time. When we finally arrived on a night when it was open, they told us it was exact same menu as Oceana which we had visited the night before. Such a disappointment. Why would they advertise them as two separate restaurants? So we never tried Castaways, since we weren’t thrilled with Oceana. We wanted to try the hibachi service at Himitsu, but learned that you have to go over to Dreams concierge after 10 AM each day. They only take same day reservations. I got there around 10:15 AM and all they had left was 5:30 PM and 10 PM so we did not eat there. Very frustrating. I don’t know why they don’t allow advance reservations from the Secrets side. The elevators are deadly hot. Very uncomfortable. They need a fan at least. Just a suggestion: if you want to get away from resort food for a snack/lunch at a very local place, try El Puerco de Oro (it was recommended to me by a friend who lives in PV). Just Google map it and you’ll see that it’s only 5–10 minutes walk from the hotel. It is a very clean little place that specializes in pork belly tacos. They are incredibly delicious. And they take dollars and credit cards to boot! Not sure we will return to Secrets. I will check reviews for other PV all-inclusive first.

Another great stay.
Great stay. Special thanks to Pablo, also the entire staff at market cafe. A big shout out to Judith from uvc and Judith from housekeeping. Vallarta Bay is a very special place, walking distance to many restaurants and shops. And importantly the best sunsets in the world.

Great place for family of adult kids….
Great service. Well-appointed rooms. Lovely resort in general. Exceptional service provided by Jose Becerra who took care of all our needs. Stayed on Secrets side which gives you access to Dreams as well. Secrets was perfect for our family since it’s adults only. Pools could use a renovation as they were all a bit rough.
