    GREAT.........WITH ONE EXCEPTION!!!!!!

Everything was well above my expectations with one exception. I had misplaced my pasos that I had purchased for tipping because of the all inclusive package we purchased. I discovered an ATM machine in the lobby and withdrew money to cover the rest of our stay but it was in US $ only. I asked the concierge if they could exchange the money into pesos. He said yes but I would have to show them my passport in order to further the transaction. Upon retrieving it, I was first told by a second person that one of the bills that I had got from the ATM machine was bad and they would not accept it even though it was no different than the others. Then I was told I had to duplicate my signature on my 8 year old passport. I couldn't, probably because of my shaking hands. I then asked them if the could at least exchange one of the bills into smaller US currency which they agreed to. So I gave them the bill that they said they originally wouldn't accept. In return I was given a bunch of smaller bills that looked like they should have been out of circulation. The remainder of the trip went well.

    Ok, but won’t be back

Nice hotel but main issues were food which was good but at best was tepid breakfast buffet goods supposed to be hot were borderline cold even in main restaurants where food cooked fresh the side dishes were invariably tepid/cold we went to blue water grill on last night and truffle potatoes were cold as was mushroom sauce these must be sitting too long Biggest gripe sunbeds!! You need to be down to get a bed that’s gives a bit of space and not crammed in where in an umbrella goes up you’re in the shade like it or not!! Given this is all inclusive and not cheap it seems reasonable that you should be able to go for lunch without pool staff giving away your bed this leaves you with no bed and having to retrieve PERSONAL GOODS from lost and found !! Unacceptable practice!! there must be a better way it happened to us once but was a daily occurrence it was patently obvious then beds were being used given the bags hats books etc lying at them!! But pool staff just moved them to accommodate people who just decided to go to the pool at lunchtime For reasons above I’d find it hard to recommend this hotel

    A Cruise on Land

A must stay in Cancun. Plenty of activities and entertainment. I never felt like I had to leave the resort. Hospitality above and beyond anything I have experienced.

A great "Vibe" at Secrets The Vine

Location: excellent, we have stayed all over the east coast of Mexico and Cabo, the Hotel Zone is great and the ocean and beach are beautiful (minus the seaweed which cannot be helped) Atmosphere: There is a "vibe' at Secrets the Vine, a great vibe! relaxed, easy, jazzy and alluring. The facility is beautiful and smells lovely! Rooms: The rooms are equally beautiful and very clean. We opted for Preferred and enjoyed the higher floor and view. We did not benefit from other Preferred amenities, although partly on us. We never used the Preferred pool nor the lounge as we were very pleased with the other pools, eateries and bars. I likely would not select Preferred again as the staff in the entire resort are excellent. Our Butler was kind of MIA, but we found someone when we needed them and they were extremely accommodating. Pools: Again, beautiful and a "vibe"..each pool is a bit different and you will find "your spot", the daily entertainment staff and servers are superior. Chairs- it is true, I didnt believe it, but if you do not secure chairs by 7am, you likely will not have a chair. That being said, the pool staff work hard to find and move chairs and umbrellas to accommodate the guest in need..this is one of the items that kept me from 5 stars. The daily musical entertainment is also very nice. Restaurants, bars and eateries: All great! we loved both the Italian and Steak spots. The atmosphere is fine dining, men- just take slacks and enjoy it! Mexican Night by the pool was very crowded and we opted not to wait. There is also an International Night by the pool. *Beware: if you are by the lap pool, you will be asked to move by 3 pm to another area as they prepare for the nightly events(and there are no chairs)..so plan ahead* The coffee bar is a wonderful bonus with snacks, pastries, breads and ICE CREAM! The ladies working there are so incredible and nice with big smiles... very similar to a Starbucks, but staff are even nicer :). The wait staff at all locations are wonderful. Lost and Found: we lost a pair of glasses! they were found! they have this down to a science. The reason not a 5? upon arrival, you are taunted with a $200 credit as a Hilton member (if you are a member) and additional coupons. This is a time share!!! If you want to be uprooted from pool side to listen to the speech, go for it..otherwise you really DO NOT have a $200 credit and coupons, very misleading and disappointing. I was also unable to book the Preferred complimentary spa visit as that is also a ploy to upsell a spa experience. In fact, the staff "discourage" you from participating saying, "it really is not worth it" (told this twice by different personnel) Would we return, Yes, but would ignore the upsell and coupon speech and be prepared to rise and shine to get chairs! Overall...a wonderful time and the good FAR outweighs the tiny nags. Shout out to Alfredo in the Italian restaurant, the best waiter ..sincere, funny and at our service! Thank you Alfredo!
