  Loved our experience, 5 stars

  My partner and I had an exceptional time while at this Secrets Resort, and that was because of your amazing staff going above and beyond to make our experience unique, romantic, and special. I'd like to take this opportunity to highlight a number of your staff starting with Valeria Medina. From the minute we arrived at concierge and met Valeria, she was friendly, professional, personable and embodied what hospitality is meant to look like. She listened to our needs, our hopes, and any concerns we had--especially surrounding my partner having Celiac disease. Throughout our time at the resort, she helped facilitate our experiences, gave us suggestions, and answered any questions we had (which we had lots of!). She consistently went above and beyond for us, even when she was busy or had other things on the go. By the time we left the resort, Valeria felt more like a friend to us than an employee, and I can confidently say that she single-handedly made our experience what it was. I would find it difficult to go to any resort that didn't have Valeria, and if we ever do travel back to Mexico for an inclusive in the future, it will be to this Secrets Resort specifically because of Valeria. She is an exceptional member of your team and should be treated as such, thank-you for everything. Other members of your team I want to highlight are below. Luis, Preferred Lounge Bartender: Luis much like Valeria went above and beyond during our entire time at the resort, and was always there for a good laugh, life chat, or helping hand. Time and time again, we found ourselves waiting for Luis to start, and starting or ending our evenings with Luis. Much like Valeria, Luis became more of a friend than an employee, and we found ourselves saddened when we checked out, knowing we had to say goodbye to Luis. He was one of the first people we met when we arrived, and without him, our experience wouldn't have been as great as it was. Much like Valeria, Luis is an invaluable member of your team and elevates your resort to a level that isn't achievable without their presence. Christopher, Steakhouse (at the time): Went above and beyond to get my partner a gluten-free dessert that was not on the menu so she could enjoy a dessert with dinner. Jordan, Italian Restaurant (at the time): Provided us a special gluten-free dish and special gluten-free chicken to accommodate my partners concerns with gluten. Miguel, Room Service Management: On our final night at the resort, my partner and I had to pack, wanted to stay in, and she was feeling a little under the weather. She had been unable to order and enjoy food on the room service menu due to it all having gluten in it. Miguel personally visited our room and was able to offer and cook a fully gluten safe meal off menu for my partner to enjoy. This level of care, compassion, and concern is a step above the rest. It was greatly appreciated. Lily, Hostess at Rosewater: Lily was incredibly friendly at all times, always greeting us with a smile in the morning. We found ourselves happy to see her when we went for breakfast and was a staple of our morning routine. Julian, Rosewater: Julian was one of the few that consistently remembered my partner and my name despite how many people he served. This made our experience feel personal and he would always remember my partner had Celiac Disease. Lino, Rosewater Breakfast: Similar to Julian, Lino remembered us and remembered my partner having Celiac Disease and always made sure to check in and check how she was doing.

  Home Away From Home

  My most recent stay continues to reinforce why I return and truly do consider Secrets Riviera Cancun my home away from home! I always feel like I am valued and that my return is being anticipated! Upon arrival I know I can expect smiling faces and a personalized greeting! In the Secrets Lounge Irma will always be there and if impossible I know one of her excellent team members will be awaiting me. Irma and her team are always ready to help; are curious about how I have been, do I have any special requests and they even recall my preferred drink of choice! (they have a lot of guests, new and repeat and the fact that they can recall truly makes the greeting more special – like walking in the door to a friend’s house!) This type of a reception after a flight is always welcome. Thank you! I adore the staff at Rosewater, all of them! As well as all the pool staff. (I would list all their names, but I am fearful of missing one) I love when they recognize you and their faces light up and they welcome you with open arms! Not to mention the Rosewater menus (breakfast, lunch and dinner) always offer options that tackle my cravings! (they try to make any special requests I have happen; which takes my meals to the next level of satisfaction!) I also love when the chef comes out to check on how my meal is and actually listens to my comments/suggestions. Another shout about Rosewater and the Secrets pool is having really good live music; whether lunch or dinner; it’s always a nice addition to the idyllic view of the ocean; and yes, I will get up and dance (which they are always happy to accommodate!!) Just know that your wifi connectivity at Rosewater can be sketchy at times; so, plan accordingly (it must be the stone walls!) By the way I enjoy going to Coco Café for cold frappe coffee beverage in the afternoon! Ultimately, my time is spent having excellent cocktails and food, dancing, some blackjack, ping pong poolside, plus some additional activities with the Animacion team. For me, beach volleyball is my go-to sport and I like the fact that there is a beach option on both the Breathless side and the Secrets side. Thanks to Steven from Animacion who joins and who always acknowledges my participation in activities! I also want to share an important shout out to Abelia our housekeeper, she flexes to my do not disturb sign, accommodates my requests when possible (using a translating app is a huge help!) and always with a smile! A huge gracias and abrazo to all!

  A great stay!

  Amazing service! Honestly, the whole team was really kind and helpful. Shot out to Luis and Armando (at the bar in the check-in lounge) and Julian (& the entertainment team) and the waiters at the Rosewater Grill. They really make the difference, because we could experience the Breathless and its definitely better on the Secrets's side. The food was overall really good, but overall better at the Rosewater than the Breathless restos. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Pool is amazing, and there's always enough space for everyone. We found it convenient to have access to the Breathless (with the restos, bars & shows) every night, but felt sooo grateful to come back to the quiet side of the Secrets. So the location is really convenient because it's close to the airport, but like everybody says, the beach is not great. Not fun for swimming. But everything else is great!! Thank you to the team! PS: Ask Luis for a skinny espresso martini and/or the good tequila!

  Best Experience at a resort we’ve ever had

  All the staff were amazing so friendly and always willing to help here’s a few that stood out the most, Towel stand: Adrian was wonderful always happy, Daniel oh my goodness I can’t say enough about him he was the sweetest kindest soul he went above and beyond every single day so helpful and his customer service skills are outstanding he treated us like kings and queens but he made everyone feel the same way. Around the Pool Service: everyone was great we had the pleasure of having Cruz and Nedel these 2 were awesome they we so happy to help you every time they came around, took the time to remember what you wanted and noticing when you need a refill we had a little nickname for Cruz …. Cruz control, he made it so fun. The daily entertainment team was great they did a great job at getting people involved in the activities Steven was so funny!!! The Margarita Cart: Thomas was great,Silk City: Enrique was very helpful with all the questions we had, he made recommendations and was right on point very nice and friendly guy. Preferred Lounge: Luis he was the best so friendly very knowledgeable and just overall great his recommendations were excellent he had a great personality. Coquette: Pamela was very sweet and kind, Mauricio was super friendly and very happy he was so attentive and helpful, his personality was awesome made our dinner the best his assistant Adrian was very sweet and kind and helpful as well. Spa: everyone was so welcoming and very friendly we had a couples hot stone massage and the two lovely ladies that we had were wonderful one of the best massages we’ve had I had Nayelly she was fantastic she had the right pressure magic hand he was kind and sweet my husband had her partner and was very happy. Last be definitely not least Rosewater: we visited this location often we ate our breakfast here every day the staff were wonderful a few names to point out would be Alberto he was very friendly and kind always had a wonderful smile speaking of smile Yesenia had such and infectious smile she was so sweet and friendly, Lily was great she had the other staff smiling every time she was around you could tell they enjoyed her presence, Luis Cante this employee always went above and beyond for every single guest he was always so eager to help he was super pleasant to have a around I looked forward to seeing him and last but not least Alexandro was amazing in all ways he always had a smile on his face and made our experience beyond our expectations we had a romantic dinner planned on the beach but it rained so we had to go into the restaurant and he did everything to make it magical.. The beach was better then expected we spent a lot of time researching and reading reviews and we did not find the beach to be seaweed it’s not the nicest beach weve ever seen but I wouldn’t complain I don’t tend to spend much time at the beach I walk it and like the feel the sand on my toes but I don’t typically go swimming so it wasn’t a deal breaker for me. Very much enjoyed being able to walk over to the other side and enjoying the atmosphere and when we wanted some quiet time went back over to secrets . The grounds were so clean well groomed. We went on an catamaran excursion that we booked in the main area and was a great experience highly recommend going the Isla Mujeres I can’t wait to go again I feel there’s so much more to see needed more time I found the gift shop had great prices compared to the gift shop at the airport they had cool things and a variety of different items some novelty and some about the culture and lots of tequila lots of high pressure invitations to the shops but just a simple No Gracias worked for us next time we will rent a golf cart and tour around more the interesting walkways and great bars and shop was incredible to experience. We were celebrating our 20 year wedding anniversary and the they did an incredible job of spoiling us my husband emailed letting the resort know we were celebrating and they went above our wildest expectations, we had a ocean view swim out which was incredible the view was breathtaking we had a banner on our door on arrival and bottle of wine, the staff made us feel so special with special dinners and cakes and Daniel made us an incredible gift on a towel!!! I could go on forever about this resort it was the best experience we’ve ever had on our trips we’ve been on. Pictures don’t do it justice. We will return to this resort again they make it hard to go anywhere else!! Great job highly recommend

  I would not recommend if you are expecting a 5 star all inclusive.

  We were disappointed in this outdated resort. The drinks were watered down and the food wasn't good. We stayed 4 nights and ended up leaving the resort to eat offsite for 2 of the 4 nights b/c we just couldn't do it. The activities we were most excited for were cancelled (karaoke & country music by pool). The beach was non-existant so if you typically like to walk the beach or swim in the ocean at all - don't choose this resort. I would not call it a 5 star resort. It's not even close to the actual 5 star resorts such as Grand Velas, St. Regis, etc...
