Fantastic stay in a fantastic hotel
This was our second time at the Papagayo - again at the end of a round trip to relax. In summary: It was great! We loved every minute at this amazing resort and we continue to recommend it unreservedly. Requested early check-in before arrival and got it without any problems. Reception very professional, you feel welcome immediately. The rooms are extremely clean and the housekeeping does an excellent job. We had 2 bungalows right by the quiet pool, great location. There are 2 areas in the hotel, each with a pool: a main area with a pool and enough loungers, there are also bars and all the restaurants and shops are located there. For those who are looking for more peace, there is a quiet pool with its own bar and the aqua restaurant. But the best thing is the beach: clean, empty and with beautiful water. The water is clear and calm as it is located in a bay. You can swim far out, there are no currents. Pay attention to the ebb and flow, but only minimally. Most (American) guests are never on the beach anyway, so you're almost always on your own. Simply fantastic. The restaurants are all very good, both the buffet and the themed restaurants. We like the Japanese and the Seaside Grill best. All top drinks, international brands, best cocktails. Really good. The service is outstanding, all employees do a fantastic job, an extra compliment to Anthony and also the crew from Seaside-Grill (see photo), we had a lot of fun with you. Thanks! You feel completely comfortable and feel the 5 stars and the claim to be a luxury hotel. we're looking forward to next time!

In love with Secrets, the food, the people!!
We booked this resort for our 6 day honeymoon and it was just simply amazing!! We did preferred ocean front room and the view was completely breathtaking! It was so refreshing to wake up to every morning. This resort does it right, and if its not right, they will do everything in their power to make it right! Rooms/Cleaning - 10/10. Our room was cleaned and completely stocked with plenty of towels, drinks and snacks by the time we got back from the pool each and every day. We even had a scorpion in our room the one night when coming back from night time activities so we called the front desk and a worker came to resolve the issue within 2 minutes. Pool - They have 3 pools. 2 in the main area where they have music and water activities often, 1 on the other side of the resort right in front of the gym and spa which is much more quiet. If you plan on getting a chair with shade, go early! by 9:30 most chairs are taken. Activities/night life - They always have 2 night time activities whether its bingo, trivia, a dance performance put on by their crew (which are amazing btw), live guitarist, etc. They are super fun and interactive if you participate. The bartenders at the main bar at night are AMAZING! They literally make anything that you want. Resort - Super hilly resort. They have plenty of transportation vans going around. Its on the smaller side which we did not mind, you will see familiar faces from time to time. They also make it so easy to explore Costa rica as well with plenty of excursions at your finger tips. They will help you book off resort excursions but I highly recommend using Frank the Tank who you can contact through Facebook. Overall loved this resort. You really get to know the staff and they care so deeply about what they do. My husband and I dont stress about the little things as we are on vacation. Like I said, if something is wrong, they will do anything to fix it and make you happy. I was truly sad to leave not only the resort, but Guanacaste in general, such a beautiful area.

We are very happy we chose Papagayo Secrets for our vacation! The staff was so friendly to my family and I.
Recently stayed at Papagayo Secrets resort. If you are looking for great service, great food and an amazing vacation then look no further. The first thing I would like to say about my stay in this resort is how friendly the staff was to my family & I. On our first day there we were greeted by Marian who was very knowledgeable and helped us set up our stay while we were checking in. Our house keeper Kevin went above to keep my wife happy with extra towels and he paid attention to detail with our room. The staff at the restaurants especially the manager at Porto Fino were all very attentive to our 20+ group. They accommodated us to have dinner together almost every night. The staff was very friendly, clean and paid attention to detail. The chefs came out to greet us and the food they made was flavorful and scrumptious! The cost of the items in the gift shop are inflated due to the fact of them having to import everything. We are very happy we chose Papagayo Secrets for our vacation.

Beautiful and relaxing
We had a wonderful week at Secrets Papagayo. The food was really good, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the activities were great. We had an amazing couples massage, as well as a romantic dinner on the beach. The evening entertainment was outstanding from a fire show to Latin dancers. One staff member stands out to us for going above and beyond to make our stay top-notch. Kevin Stewart took us on a hike. We heard howler monkeys while hiking and our guide communicated with them. Most amazing thing ever. From hiking to playing bingo, to aqua stretching to making bracelets, he was amazing adding fun to our time here. Many other staff were great, but he was the most personable and attentive to all guests.

Little gem of a getaway
The staff are exceptional and attentive. Just a few to mention, Marco, our driver went above and beyond delivering us our room and also helping us move to another room on check in. Henry at reception very welcoming and polite. Johnny at the pool bar and restaurants was extremely polite and always made us feel very well taken care of and Ricardo at Himitsu was the bomb of a waiter!
