Great tennis and basketball courts
Great stay, highly recommend the tennis and basketball courts. Easy to make reservations and very accommodating staff! Also nice clay courts not that blue clay some places have. Will most certainly be back!
We took a group of 13 friends, we had 3 swim out rooms, and the rest were ocean view. We asked to all be in one block so we could find each other easily. Our concierge Yafreisi was very helpful. She lined up drinks and food in our pool daily. 3 members of our group have food allergies, she wrote a letter in Spanish for us to show at the restaurants explaining the food issues. That was super helpful! She was a pleasure to work with! Can't wait to come back again!
Secrets Cap Cana - Incredible Service
We had an excellent vacation at Secrets Cap Cana. This was our second time at this resort and will definitely return in the future. The service throughout the resort is top notch. Our concierge, Martínez, provided incredible service for my wife and I every day during our stay. Martínez went above and beyond to make our vacation truly memorable. We highly recommend Secrets Cap Cana.
Nice Stay but Warrants More
My husband and I stayed at Secrets Cap Cana mid-January. We travelled for his birthday, and stayed in the Junior Suite Partial Ocean View Room with a King bed. We are in our early to mid thirties and have travelled extensively. General overview - average age of guest is 40+, and approximately 90% of guests are from the USA. Remaining are UK/Europe mixed. As such, resort is tailored to this crowd by playing a certain type of music, food choices, etc., so keep this in mind. If you want a fun/lively vibe, this resort is not for you. Will break down what we enjoyed, and what we did not, about our stay at this resort: Pros: - beautiful grounds, including a decent sized lobby and landscaping with lights at night - the staff are probably the best part about this resort. Everyone is super kind and willing to go above and beyond to help you. Also seeing the fun dynamic amongst the staff signals that they are not poorly treated which is always important. - our concierge Angelo was great, always available and met with us practically on a daily basis to check in and see how he can - room is nice and spacious. We were not 'preferred' but the rooms are identical except for their location. - there is room service 24hrs a day, so when we just felt like staying in the room we ordered and they place the food in the box which is accessible from outside the room but goes directly into a cubby located inside the closet in your room, so no need to see anyone - the beach is amazing, minus the shade situation which I shall discuss in the cons list. The water is beautiful turquoise, calm, and no seaweed. It's not crystal clear where you can see to the bottom but still perfect. - resort is a 15 minute drive from the Punta Cana airport, so after a long flight you are at the resort very quickly. - if you would like to do day activities, there is a rep in the lobby who can book whatever you like. We did the ATV one and had a blast. - restaurants were OK, the best were Seaside Steakhouse and the Japanese one Cons: - given that the crowd is older (again, mostly 40+) and American, the nightly activates were super basic. The shows ranged from Rock, Beatles and Pop Stars. Like what? After the show is done, there is a live duo singing in the lobby - but mostly singing old rock/pop songs, with a mix of ed sheeran/jon legend. When the DJ came on, we had to beg him to play some bachata/salsa/anything latin music to remind ourselves we are in the Dominican. This was one of the most disappointing parts as we were so excited to be in DR but it never felt like we were as the resort seemed to have also forgotten it was in DR. We were pretty bored at night, and everything was quiet at 11pm. So if you like to have a nightlife, this place is not it - the erasure or lack of a DR vibe was seen in the food as well, as there was only a small option of Dominican food available, and for the restaurants - they have Mexican, French, Italian, Japanese etc., but again, no Dominican Restaurant. They have a Havana Night on the beach - how does this make sense? why not a DR night? I have been to Cuba and it was lovely but seriously? - there is no buffet as an option for dinner, why? we didn't feel like going to a resto every night and anywhere else there is always a buffet option for dinner. This makes absolutely no sense. - there is nothing entertaining happening on the beach, just the pool area. Not sure I understand how people can pay such money to travel to a beautiful ocean but keep themselves in a pool all day but if that is you, this would be the place - if you want shade on the beach, you would need to get there at 7am to find a palapa /hut as there are a few which are taken by 9am. Not sure why the resort doesn't put up umbrellas everywhere, like the resort next door? The pool also has a limited amount of umbrellas for people so again how is this a 'luxury' resort but can't afford to have enough umbrellas for its patrons? Ultimately, it was a nice stay and the weather was beautiful. Would we go back? nope. But that is us and we enjoy having things to do at night and being exposed to local culture, food, music, etc. which is not what we got at this resort.
I’ll be back!
This resort is absolutely fantastic. It is hard to come up with anything to complain about. We went with a group of eight women to celebrate a 50th birthday and it was perfect. Our Concierge, Carlos, took care of everything for us. We stayed in the preferred club, which gives you access to a quieter pool, lovely breakfast and lunch options, and higher end drinks. We had exceptional service during our entire stay. There are a few people I want to celebrate for their above and beyond service: Alba, Esperanza, Gibel, Carlos (5 of them), Francy, just to name a few! Every single person who works here wants to make your stay incredible. The pools are wonderful and the beach is beautiful. We have stayed at several secrets resorts and this one is now our new favorite.
