Best trip ever!!
We had the most amazing two weeks at Sandos! Honestly please ignore any bad reviews, these people are Karen's. When we arrived after a long journey we were welcomed with a cold drink and smiles. Check in was quick and we were meant to be in a standard room however asking politely got upgraded! Room was beautiful, spacious, great air con and full mini fridge. We used the app to book most the restaurants which was easy - we liked them all! Then to book another two restaurants you do this at the centre next to the sports bar at 9am, does get quite busy so get there 5-10 mins early. The wildlife is incredible always seeing something new, we quickly realised to always look up to see the monkeys 🐒 The entertainment team were the best!!! So so friendly, fun and genuine - Jonathan was great. We visited the sister Hotel for the beach, was a nice day out but had nothing on sandos caracol. We also did the atv zipline and cenote swim which we recommend. Also coming back engaged!! Book the romantic jade River at the info centre day before - again get there early as very popular. All the activities, massages on the beach were great. We did both get ill so bring all medication as very expensive at the shop! Overall it was a beautiful holiday and could not fault it!!

PR vacation
We went to the water park. There are slides for young children and adults. They were very entertaining. The food was good and the servers showed great customer service. The only thing I did not like that much were the raccoons hovering over the food. Would come back again.

Best Wedding Ever
We had our wedding at Sandos and it was AMAZING! THE RESORT Overall the resort was actually nicer than I thought it would be! The pictures don’t do it justice. I was worried the rooms wouldn’t be very nice since I read such mixed reviews but all of the rooms in our parties were nicer than expected! Keep in mind this isn't a 5 star hotel so The resort CAN get buggy in the evening but the bugs were less of an issue than I expected. The beach was a little disappointing because it was very rocky & full of seaweed. The seaweed was so bad that you couldn’t go in the water. Once there we were told that there are times of year that this happens, I wasn’t aware beforehand. This wasn’t a huge issue for our group since there was plenty of nice pools and other things to do!! The reservation system for the restaurants is VERY confusing. We ended up eating at the open buffet most nights so our group could eat together, rather than split everyone up. I kept reading in this group how the check in process was long and awful. I would say it took 30 minutes-1 hr on average for each group to check in. Not too bad but not quick! —— THE WEDDING OVERALL IMPRESSION The wedding was AMAZING and far exceeded our expectations!! I was worried things wouldn’t go to plan or look tacky. Everything went very smoothly and looked very put together. CEREMONY We had the ceremony at the cenote and it was beautiful! YES it is by the lobby but it’s private enough that you don’t even notice. Our coordinator even ensured nobody stopped and stared at any point of the cenote so randoms would be in our photos. We upgraded to the bamboo chairs and wooden arch with eucalyptus and white roses. We loved how this tied into the natural feel of the resort! We saw another cenote wedding while at the resort that chose the white chairs and I personally am glad we upgraded to the wooden chairs We used the resort officiant and she was AMAZING!! We got SO many compliments from our guests about what a wonderful job she did. The ceremony itself was about 20 minutes and went seamlessly. Instrumental music played in the background while guests waited for the ceremony to start, then our chosen songs played as the wedding parties started to walk in. COCKTAIL HOUR / RECEPTION The cocktail hour & reception were both in the same spot on the beach (across from La Rivera restaurant) and this felt like the PERFECT sized space for our 35 guests. It’s right next to the restaurant but they kind of enclose your part of the beach so we didn’t even notice. It also was a convenient place for people to use the bathroom throughout the wedding. We got the Mariachi trio for our cocktail hour and felt it was worth it!! We didn’t get to see them since we were off doing pictures but our guests loved it. The reception also went seamlessly! The food was just eh but everything else went amazingly. The DJ was something I was VERY worried about during the planning process because I read some horror stories in this group and I was very particular about what songs I wanted played during the reception and cocktail hour. The DJ played about 90% of our songs and 10% of his own (despite our very clear instruction to only play our songs) He also played them out of order and played some songs several times, not playing others we had requested. If music is important to you I would HIGHLY stress being as detailed as possible with your coordinator and on your DJ form that you want specific songs played in a specific order. COORDINATOR / PLANNING PROCESS Our coordinator was Estaphanye and we would HIGHLY recommend her! She was very professional and thorough. We didn’t hear from her much before we got to the resort (maybe 3 times total in the whole wedding planning process) but once we got there she did a great job of explaining our options to us. We asked Estpahnye to schedule a phone call with us about a week before we got to the resort and this was SO HELPFUL! I would definitely recommend doing this, I didn’t even know this was an option. She really eased my worries and answered questions more thoroughly than via email. I remember how stressful it was to trust the process of planning! You really do just have to trust the process but also be VERY clear about what you want and do not want. WHAT WE BROUGHT TO THE WEDDING We brought very little to the wedding in terms of decor/gifts/etc! This is all we brought: -Photo frames with pictures of passed loved ones -Guest book & instax camera -Personalized bags for flower petals to be thrown after we walked down the aisle (the resort provided the flower petals & stuffed each bag for us) -A few signs (one for the guestbook, one for the take a shot and take your seat table) DECOR We didn’t bring gift bags or any extra decor. I’m glad we didn’t spend the extra money on gift bags - nobody missed them and they would have just added more to worry about. We kept decor simple and the resort had everything we needed. Upgrades we chose: -String lights (this was like $1,000 which was annoying but Alex and I agreed they were definitely worth it in the end) -Eucaplytus table runners with white roses (instead of centerpieces) -Wooden tables & chairs -Extra hour added to reception (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) -Mariachi trio -DJ for duration of reception -Wooden dance floor HAIR & MAKEUP After much deliberation I chose to have mine & my bridesmaids hair and makeup done by the resort salon staff. I read such mixed reviews on this! I would say my hair and makeup turned out well in the end. You have to be VERY specific about what you want and don’t want. They were trying to convince me to do my makeup and hair different from how I wanted but I stood my ground and happy that I did. I did the hair and makeup trial and this definitely eased my worries!! I would highly recommend if you’re thinking about! The women that came to our room to do our hair and makeup were nice but felt somewhat unprofessional at times. They were 30 minutes late and we couldn’t get a hold of them, which was stressful on the day! One of my bridesmaids ended up having to leave my room to go find them at the spa to bring them to the room. They also argued in Spanish amongst themselves at points which was kind of awkward lol. One of the only things I wish I had done differently for the whole wedding was doing an updo rather than leaving my hair down. It is SO hot and humid that my hair fell pretty quickly and made me so much hotter!! CONCLUSION I really want to say that our time at the resort and the wedding itself were absolutely amazing!!! I’m a very type A person and had a hard time trusting the process but it really does work out

We had an amazing experience - we recommend it for anyone! The staff were friendly and so accommodating. The place was clean and felt it offered everything we needed. The food was excellent. The wildlife around the resort was the best part of the whole experience!

10 day stay - for a friends wedding
Resort generally good, lots to do and beautiful views One top tip avoid the Italian restaurant it is terrible, cold food, at least 3 tables left mid meal when we where in. Brazilian and Japanese restaurants very good Rooms very clean and maids very efficient
