    A good property that is headed towards a great property

    My wife and I (M51 F52) stayed for five nights in January. We were in a standard room (3410). As Titanium Elite with Marriott Bonvoy, we received bracelets that gave us access to the Diamond Club Lounge, Diamond Club Breakfast, and Diamond Club Beach and Bar. The room was in building 3 which directly faces the ocean. The breeze comes in and it is quite comfortable. It should be noted that when you go to find the controls for fan and AC they are in the bedside walls, not a common place to look for them so it took a moment for us to find them, but they worked well. There were some parts of the room that needed attention. One of the shower heads had a broken handle (there are two so not a real problem) and the plaster along the door frame was cracked and falling out when we closed the door. We didn't feel either of these were problems we couldn't live with, but did notify the hotel as we checked out. The comments about hot water that have been mentioned did occur while we were there. At the end of the day, when everyone is coming back from the pool and ocean, there was a lack of hot water. My thought was that it was due to demand, so we went back a little earlier and never had an issue. There was one day when we came back to no water in the room, but that was rectified reasonably quickly, and we continued on. The reservation free dining isn't quite true. Diamond Club members can have reservations made for them at any restaurant (not something the bonvoy bracelet included). As such the wait time at the steakhouse or the Italian (seemingly the two most popular) for standard room guests can be long. One night we showed up at 6 (opening time) for the Italian restaurant to find a line and be given a beeper for when a table was ready. There were empty tables, but reservations had been made. After an hour wait I gave the beeper back and we ate in the sports bar which was empty. Every other night we had no issues as we were a table of 2. Large parties might not be able to say the same. Our last day we rented Cabana #8 by the pool. Kimone was our server that day and she was always popping by to see if she could bring drinks or anything else we might need. Given the usual issue of people trying to claim beach chairs at 7 am with towels but not showing up until noon, this was money well spent. (I should note we saw less of that in the Diamond Club beach area than around the pools.) The nightly entertainment was viewable from the room balconies. The quality of the performers was mostly very good. I didn't understand the flow of the music (there was no story being told or through line, just what they liked). It was completed each evening at 10 so the noise wasn't too late. We could hear the folks in the rooms next to us, so that was often a greater issue than noise from outside. Marriott and Royalton's partnership is fairly new. Marriott is learning about all-inclusive and Royalton is working to up their game with technology. For example, each person gets a wrist band which acts as your key so you never worry about losing it. BUT you can't use that wrist band to charge things to your room if you need to make a purchase in the store. The managers noted that they are working to increase that kind of interconnection. For two people looking to escape the snow and cold, this was a good solid property for a vacation. I hope that the relationship with Marriott will result in investments that bring the little challenges up to speed with the potential. Ultimately what they do have right is the staff. Each person I encountered was kind and welcoming. That made for a truly pleasant week.

    Aqua aerobics was great with Everton. He was quite interactive, friendly and professional. He is energetic, athletic and keeps us active and fit on vacation!!!! He talks to everyone and is obviously very good at his job!!!

    I watched Everton’s class today. He appears to be very athletic and energetic. The class was very fun to watch. He keeps his energy up the whole time. He was very friendly and professional!!!!!! I enjoyed watching the class. I would have joined the class but I didn’t want to get my hair wet I have a wedding to attend!! G

    The Fitness instructor

    I didn’t plan to participate in any fitness related activities during my friends trip, but I did and I was so pleased when I did. It was fun, and exactly what I needed since my body was stiff after all the lying on the beach. Thank you Everton for such a great yoga class. I hope you’re there when we return :)
