Picture-Perfect, Palate Punishing
Our friends destination wedding at this resort, to us was a deeply disappointing affair. While the initial welcome with prompt drinks and the convenient golf cart transfers were pleasant, the experience quickly deteriorated. The musty odor permeating the room, unfortunately, is a common affliction among beachside accommodations, but the subpar dining experience was entirely avoidable. The 'pretzels' resembled stale pizza crust, and the breaded 'wings' were an insult to poultry. A friend's quesadilla consisted of a pathetically unmelted slice of American cheese imprisoned within a pitiable pita. The breakfast buffet, while boasting an acceptable omelet station, sorely lacked the vibrant flavors of authentic Dominican cuisine. Instead, we were subjected to bland imitations of Chinese, Italian, and even American fare – a culinary journey that felt utterly incongruous with our tropical surroundings. The pristine beach, marred only by an unsightly accumulation of cigarette butts and discarded papers, offered a fleeting respite. However, the environmentally conscious paper straws, while commendable in intent, proved frustratingly fragile, dissolving into a soggy mess within minutes. Given the resort's undoubtedly prodigious consumption of plastic water bottles, the environmental impact of a few plastic straws would likely be negligible. Beyond the culinary travesties, the constant intrusion of vendors within the resort grounds was a significant detractor. While beachside hawkers are an understandable reality, their presence within the resort itself created an unwelcome sense of pressure and disrupted the intended atmosphere of relaxation. The incessant requests for tips and the persistent attempts to sell trinkets felt exploitative and marred the overall experience. In conclusion, while the resort boasted an 'all-inclusive' label, the pervasive sense of commercialism and the consistently underwhelming quality of the food left a profoundly negative impression.

Royalton Fun
From the moment we got there we felt looked after properly by all the staff. Very accommodating and willing to help at every moment. We were part of the Diamond Club and our Butler Manuel was fantastic and booked all of our reservation for restaurants. We had a fantastic experience at a pool Cabana with Miguel and a memorable waiter at Oceanside was Pedro. However, all staff everywhere were amazing!

Enjoyable but not 5 star
Unfortunately this is not the five star hotel that we were so looking forward to visiting. On arrival we were not welcomed with a welcome drink or escorted to reception to check in, we had to find reception ourselves. I was told that our rooms were not ready and to come back in a couple of hours. A couple of hours turned into 4 and then the room was still not ready and they found us an alternative one on a different floor from our family. The rooms were very nice with a mini bar stocked with soft drinks. There was also a coffee making machine but no teaspoons or milk/coffee mate to make the coffee. The hair dryer did not plug in the socket near the bathroom mirror or near the large mirror in the bedroom so I couldn’t see to blow my hair, which is ridiculous!! Our room was only cleaned 3 out of the 7 days. Two of the days no one came to clean and the other two days they turned up at 4pm when you were getting showered from being by the pool all day. This hotel offers a number of speciality restaurants, the reception tell you to download the royalton app and book the restaurants you would like to visit. This is app is an absolute joke!! We tried for three days solid to book a restaurant and all it kept saying was unavailable in every restaurant. I complained to reception. And she said there was a fault on the app and they were trying to fix it and there was no other way of booking a table. Whilst we were by the pool a member of the customer relations team told us that if we ordered special wine from his wine list that was well overpriced, he could book us anywhere we wanted to go. We refused and he said well you will just have to keep trying the app. There are so many complaints about this app on trip advisor from hotel guests but management have still apparently done nothing to improve the booking system. We booked this hotel for the speciality dinning but felt like it was a big con. We finally got in the Italian restaurant on day 5 of our holiday and when we got there she said there is no pizza this evening, which my husband wanted. What Italian restaurant doesn’t have pizza? After the meal we ordered dessert and again one of the desserts wasn’t available. We gave up trying to book any other restaurants as it was a complete waste of time. So in fact this hotel is just a bog standard all inclusive hotel with a buffet restaurant unless you are prepared to pay for overpriced wine to get a table. The food in the buffet restaurant was pretty good thank god. How ever, you never got teaspoons to stir your coffee and if you requested cappuccino it was served half full in a tea mug! There was no salt and pepper on the tables, when you asked they brought you packets of salt and pepper. Tipping - the minute the staff know you are English, you are classed as second class as other countries massively tip for everything. You are made to wait at the bar longer as they know who the tippers are. I even witnessed an American tipping the guy that made him a fried egg!! Now the plus points Entertainment team are the ones that make this hotel, they work so hard to make sure you enjoy yourself. Nothing is too much trouble This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting and we had an enjoyable stay but we paid for a five star hotel and it just didn’t quite deliver. It’s just a shame management are not correcting these concerns from their guests.

Great resort with wonderful employees
We just came back from a stay at the Royalton from Jan 7-13. We were meeting some friends there from a different state. We had a great time! We upgraded to Diamond Club which I would highly recommend. Included in this is a room closer to the beach, a private DC pool with swim up bar, access to a wonderful breakfast buffet and a butler! Our butlers name was Adonis and he went above and beyond to make sure every thing we needed or asked of him was taken care of. There were plenty of activities throughout the day and the beach was beautiful. There were a number of restaurants on site and they were all great. My kids ( 7 and 13 ) really loved it and enjoyed the surfing simulator that was offered on site.

Great times at Royalton Bavaro
A few highlights from our time at Royalton Bavaro, the FlowRider, the food, the pools, the beach and our family's private butlers Adonis & Esterbin, who organized our dinners, family activities and impromptu photo session. I highly recommend the upgrade to Diamond Club, it was a worthwhile investment.
