Save your money
I stayed here two years ago and had an amazing experience. This time around was vastly different. The food was overpriced and had zero flavor, there’s a weird smell in the hallways, the staff is very unhappy and almost annoyed that you ask for anything. Our in room kuerig had rust in the water reservoir..I could go on, but there are a lot of amazing places to stay with way better service and cost a lot less.

Keep looking
We checked out after one night. We arrived very excited to celebrate our honeymoon...upon checking in we were told that we couldn't have a king room or even an upgrade to a suite because they only had us booked for a double room (we used a travel agent who made sure a king was on the books). I had also called numerous times prior because the email from the hotel I had stated a double room as well. After check in, we went up to our room, which besides the view of the ocean, was highly disappointing. If you are going to spend +$600 per night in Maui, go elsewhere. The room smelled of wet, moldy, wood and we didn't even want to use the shower. We tried to tough it out for a night, but the beds weren't comfortable and I woke up with my eyes swollen from being allergic to what I can only imagine was mold. Our travel agent was able to work out a refund for the remaining nights, which the resort ended up double charging me for and we had to work that out as well. This hotel has potential if they put some work into it. But until then, pass on this one. The desk didn't even say a word when we left early.

Need new attitudes and fresh decor
Great location but very dated. A cosmetic update would really help. Dark heavy furniture makes very small room seem clostrophic even with ocean views. No comfortable chairs or sofa...Views are beautiful and sunsets perfect, but it's mixed with very loud music from luau 40 yards away, highway noise 100 yards away and constant chatter below. Housekeeping was minimal. Our room had the refrigerator stuck at the end of the desk instead of the cabinet space for it. No microwave. Toiletries were awful watery substances. Cheap amenities at best. Valet staff was great and always helpful. Desk clerk was condescending and unwilling to give suggestions. With such a perfect location, friendliness and warmth would go a long way. First trip back to Maui in a few years. We were somewhat disappointed with the crazy traffic and crowds of people.

Great location, struggling service, unfortunate value
We recently stayed at the Royal Lahaina Resort for our first trip to Maui. Our room was unfortunately quite unclean, with a rather large stain on the carpet (think: murder scene). On our second day the front desk claimed housecleaning service had ended although it was only 4:30pm (later on our trip, we saw rooms being cleaned well into the evening). Instead, we asked for replacement towels, but none arrived; we had to call three times to finally get some towels. The staff was fine, but not particularly friendly, with the exception of the valet who did an exceptional job and was always punctual and kind. Though the location is convenient, the conditions and accommodations leave a lot to be desired and don't warrant the price.
