More an 18-30`s holiday... Can get very lively
We recently stayed at Hotel RIU REGGAE for a seven-night getaway. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm welcome, seamless check-in process, and the genuine hospitality of the staff. 🌅 Location: 5/5 A short bus ride from the main airport & nestled right on the beach, the resort offers stunning ocean views and direct access to the water. It’s secluded enough to feel peaceful and just a short walk to local shops 🛏 Room: 4.5/5 The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and tastefully decorated. We had a room at the rear of the hotel looking at the entrance to the hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated thoughtful touches like a pillow menu and complimentary drinks optics with a fully stocked fridge. Only downside is that the shower head did not hold properly. 🍽 Dining: 4.5/5 The breakfast buffet was diverse and delicious, with both local and international options for all tastes including vanilla awkward English Men like me. Dinner(Lunch) was the same with a buffet style arrangement. Evening meal, you had a choice of the buffet style themed every night or book into either the Indian, Japanese, Italian or Steak house 🧖♀️ Amenities: 4/5 Three pools are available with two having swim up bars. The main / largest pool would get very crowded, very quickly and had activities laid on throughout the day. This pool did get very rowdy and at times felt more like an 18-30 holidays esp in the afternoons when more people were awake from their nights out. The second pool was more for volley ball but seemed to be just a chill out pool. The third pool also had a walk up bar and was definitely for the over 30s that wanted a little peace. There is a spa for massages, chill etc for a cost. The gym was well-equipped, and there were plenty of daily activities like yoga and beach volleyball. At night, there was Entertainment laid on, with a quiz every night followed by some inhouse entertainment. The only downside was the end of the week White Night which is held at adjourning RIU Montego Bay... it got very crowded with all residents from 3 hotels merging into one. The RIU Montego Bay also had a Pacha night club which opened at 11pm until 4am. Not ideal if your a light sleeper, as many residents came back during these hours & were very rowdy with phones, portable speakers playing very loudly. This was despite the signs all over the hotel asking for residents to respect others. There is a 24hr Sports bar that served up burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches and snacks as well as coffee in the early hours. 💬 Service: 4.5/5 The level of service from every staff member was friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. On site, there is a Tui Rep (Tracey) who is very helpful Overall: If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, then choose the Palace instead. This hotel advertises Adults only but feels like it should be more for the 18-30`s that want a very lively hotel.

RIU Reggae vs RIU Montego Bay – Honest Comparison from May 2025 Stay
TRIU Reggae vs RIU Montego Bay – Honest Comparison from May 2025 Stay We stayed at RIU Reggae for one week in May 2025 and had a great overall experience. I wanted to share this review to help others who, like us, were torn between Reggae and Montego Bay. Hopefully, this helps you decide! Check-In & First Impressions: We arrived around 1 PM and were pleasantly surprised that our room was already ready. Check-in was smooth, and we were able to settle in quickly and head to lunch. Everything from arrival to unpacking went seamlessly. Entertainment: The entertainment team at Reggae is top-notch. They constantly engaged guests and created a lively, fun atmosphere throughout the day and evening. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip! Food: The food was just okay. We’ve stayed at several RIU resorts across the Caribbean and Mexico, and while there was always something to eat, the quality didn’t quite match places like RIU Aruba. Not bad, just not amazing. Pool & Beach Setup – Why I Prefer Reggae: What really sets Reggae apart is the layout. The pool is level with the beach, so you can relax in the water and enjoy a beautiful view of the sand and ocean. At RIU Montego Bay, the pool area is blocked by a wall, so you don’t get that beachfront feeling. Reggae is also a smaller resort, while Montego Bay felt more crowded and busy. If you’re looking for a more relaxed but fun vibe, Reggae is the better choice in my opinion. Beach & Water Conditions: Both Reggae and Montego Bay had some seaweed in the water during our stay, but Reggae had slightly less. We didn’t go inside RIU Palace, but from the beach we noticed an unpleasant smell coming from a nearby dried-up river or drainage area. The water near there was green and stagnant—it looked and smelled bad. Honestly, if we had paid the premium to stay there, we would have been very disappointed. Downside – Shoreline Vendors: One downside across all these resorts was the presence of locals in kayaks hanging around the shore, claiming to sell souvenirs. In reality, all of them were openly selling drugs. It was uncomfortable at times—especially since one of them appeared to be a child, maybe 14 years old. It’s unfortunate and took away from the experience a bit. Final Thoughts: Despite the seaweed and the shoreline vendors, we would definitely return to RIU Reggae. It had the better layout, nicer beach view from the pool, and a more laid-back vibe than Montego Bay. If you’re deciding between the two, I’d recommend Reggae without hesitation.

J and her friends
The hotel itself was fine. The buffet was great. The service was frustrating. Any issues were discarded until they felt it was appropriate to handle(2 of my people had to wait 3+hours for their room after being told 10 more minutes i promise A MILLION TIMES, one evening 2 rooms had these crazy bugs all over the place outside/inside once it was reported it took another 3 times to get someone to come. They had to just empty a number of cans of bug spray because that’s all you could smell in the rooms for the next 4 days until we left. They didn’t change the sheets or clean up the dead bugs we took it upon ourselves to do so. Rooms were basic, bar tenders and paddle boats were FABULOUS. The entertainment people were fun to watch. We are all country people so some of the things we had to do didn’t bother us it was just the principle of it.

Would certainly come back
Best food, entertainment crew and best value! I had the best time with my partner here! First time in Jamaica but certainly will not be the last! Foam party was the highlight of entertainment on the resort.
