Aug 28, 2023Great family holiday
Visited as a family of 6 ranging from 16-70 and the second time at this hotel for two weeks. Check in was quick with a cold Buffett on offer as it was 11pm, this was a nice touch. The reception staff were great very friendly and always willing to help. The rooms were large and clean we had one suite and two doubles. Two rooms were in the main reception area and the suite was across the bridge to the old part, this is a long walk so if you have mobility issues then I would request the main building. The rooms all had air con which worked well, kettle, small bottles of lotion and soaps. The rooms were cleaned every day although our sheets were not changed for the two weeks even though I requested them to be! Bottles of water available from the bars. Pools were clean and warm, we spent most of our time in the pools as it was so hot it was nice to cool down. On two occasions one end of the pool was closed due to something being in the pool, this was cleaned and reopened this did not have too much of an impact. You could always get sun beds up to about 11 am so no need to get up silly o clock to reserve. The hotel felt over full this year compared to last year and some areas were super busy but you never felt on top of each other, plenty of staff cleaning, gardening, generally working all the time on keeping the hotel clean, all staff were happy, chatty and always happy to help, we did note that most staff were the same as last year. Restaurant/food the restaurant was very busy at peak times, however as I stated there was always a clean table available we never had to wait for anything. The food this year was lovely, always fresh soup at lunch and dinner, fresh crusty rolls, salads, dressings along with fresh grilled fish, grilled meat veg potatoes, pasta of varying varieties including carbonara, gnocchi which was wonderful. Pizza and for lunch always burgers, hotdogs and chips, you would always find a plate of food to enjoy, all hot and fresh. Desserts were good and varied, we had chocolate fountain twice during our stay. Breakfast was great every pastry you could imagine, full cooked breakfast too ( still missing a nice English sausage) but had fresh omelette, Spanish frittata, beans, baked tomatoes, fried, scrambled, boiled eggs, potato slices and varying sausage. Bread of every variety, hams cheeses, yoghurt, fruit, cereal, all delicious. Pool bar was nice they would have fresh fruit, salad, grilled chicken thighs, burgers, hotdogs, chips, nachos, hot cheese sauce, small cakes again all fresh, hot and very tasty if you did not feel like going to the main restaurant. Drinks mostly self serve wines, beers, soft drinks Fanta orange, Fanta lemon and Coke Zero, coffee, tea hot chocolate. You would have to be served spirits and cocktails. I tried the rose wine, red wine, coffee, Fanta orange, baileys and G&T along with the odd Prosecco, all more than acceptable. I did not like the cocktails although I’m not a cocktail person. The grounds were super clean staff were happy and funny, the staff in the 24 hour bar kept us entertained especially the tall guy with dark hair and Patricia 🤣. We did not go in the entertainment room as we tried this once and it was not to our taste. We preferred the singers and the cool breeze coming in, the singers are good and glad to see they stay on longer as last year they finished at 9:30 I felt this was too early this year it was more 11ish. Pool towels available from the huts 9-12:30 you can change them every day if you wish, We did not use the entertainment pool we preferred the quiet pool as we did last year, nice to see that children can have balls in the pool now although only one Half which is good so that people can mooch in the other half. Be mindful there are no inflatables allowed in any pool which I do agree as they are really large, I did see several people buy them from the shop on site and then were disappointed. We had one issue where a holiday maker a man in his 60s was possibly drunk and decided to lunge a cross our table at my 16 year old daughter (she only looks 12) and clearly had a child wrist band on, this happened whilst my husband left the table to go to the toilet, I felt this was a coincidence! The man would not leave and continued to antagonise and grabbed my daughters arm!!! I did call security who did attend and found the man hiding outside after running off. This behaviour is not acceptable in any capacity this did spoil our evening and my daughter was distraught. My only criticism of Riu was they did not call the police and although the man was spoken to he was allowed to stay on site with his wife who was not present at the time of the incident. The man and his wife continued to stare at my daughter for the last three days of our holiday which made us feel really uncomfortable. I will be putting in a complaint separately regarding procedure with Riu and Tui. Please keep your eye on your young people as you just don’t know, the couple were British and should know better, shame on you both. However worth noting this could happen anywhere in the world and we did have a wonderful time and we would still return.

Had a really lovely holiday at this hotel. Easy check in process Room was a great size for us, lovely and clean. The maids cleaned every day, so was always spotless. The hotel was lovely and well kept. The scenery in and around the hotel is gorgeous. Staff at the hotel were very friendly, some had great English and some others not so good but this did not affect our experience Pool areas are really well kept. The only issues we had surrounding the pool areas were closures of the pool. 3 days out of our 7 days, half the pool was closed due to faeces and sick in the pool. I feel more guidance should be given to guests with young children who are still of nappy age. Swimming nappies should be compulsory. The food and drink was good. Larger glasses would be nice to have, save keep getting up and down. The food was reasonable , lots of choices but evening meals were much of a muchness. The Asian restaurant was out best meal in the evening while at this hotel. The entertainment was not what I expect, was rather poor from the in house entertainment team. Did not see the outside entertainment which was brought in, as we were out on these evenings. Evening entertainment is indoors, which I have never had at a hotel before, always been outside. The room is small and can't accommodate for all the guests that they have. The live music in the main bar area in the evening is really good! Overall would definitely recommend.

Holiday
Everything was very good food was always hot & tasty & great choices available. Hotel was always clean & tidy & staff friendly & helpful. The only thing letting the hotel down was the air conditioning in room as when we arrived it was blowing out hot air of 28 degrees I phoned reception & they informed me there was a problem with air conditioning. We found it hard to sleep & it ruined our stay. I also complained to the reception in person on 3 separate times & also to our rep who was based at the hotel. I was told on all occasions it would be fixed!!! This took 3 days of our holiday to resolve. We noticed there was no air conditioning in reception or in the reception which is not ideal when you are in those areas. Sadly this let the hotel down as there were a number of other guests complaining about the same issues.

Amazing!
We recently stayed for 11 nights. Check in was smooth & quick. Room was in the other building which is quite a walk but we didn’t mind it. Our room had a lovely sea view. Rooms cleaned every day if you want them to be& beds changed on request. Lovely and clean hotel. Spotless everywhere round the pool, so many sun beds available so not a struggle finding one even mid-day. Food - Food was of four star quality but quite repetitive. Breakfast options are everything you could ask for as they literally had everything. Drinks were self service which was really good. Only thing I would mention is the courtesy room you can book for a late flight we only had 30 mins which isn’t long for 2 people to freshen up if, 45 minutes would probably be better. We came for a relaxing stay so stayed around the quieter pool every day. We didn’t really interact with the entertainment team through our own choice but they always said Hello and always seemed to be doing activities! Martin was absolutely hilarious and is a credit to the team. On the quieter side of the hotels pool we liked the fact no inflatables were allowed as it meant the pool wasn’t too busy and full. Cats - so many cats around the hotel, Which we loved as we love cats and certainly loved saying hello to them every day. However there are signs up saying do not feed. I do hope they are fed as although they were clean they were quite thin so hope the hotel are making sure they are fed. Overall amazing hotel and would definitely recommend!

Another great stay at this Riu establishment
We decided to holiday at this establishment as the last time we were there was over 6 years ago and I must say I am very glad I did the hotel has had a revamp and it looks magnificent. Every where was very fresh and clean and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The grounds were well kept and always had gardeners working on them, The rooms before were a bit dated but now they are decorated to a good standard and was cleaned daily. There was no problems around the pool area you could get a sun bed any time of the day and you did not have the problems of early morning sunbed reservists. The food was plentiful and always cooked to a high standard. I have only one concern there was very few toilets around only two in the main hotel
