We accidentally booked in Cancun instead of Playa del Carmen! Upon arriving to the property we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful and clean it was. We were greeted with complimentary drinks as we checked in, loved it. Amazing food and service all around, my only complaint would be the amount of cigarette smoking all around the property in indoor common and beach area. I had to have security ask a drunken guest to go smoke outside of the show area.

Aug 28, 2023Amazing Staff, Delicious Food & Drinks, Very Clean and Spacious. Noise levels and seaweed, not to my liking.
Stayed here for 11 nights in August 2023 and really enjoyed our stay. The staff in the hotel honestly cannot do enough for the guests and their tips are very well earned. There are 6 or 7 various restaurants and places to eat here and because you don't have to book a table you can wait till you're going out to dinner to see what you fancy. All the restaurants were absolutely beautiful, especially the Steak House. I recommend the Surf & Turf. The lunchtime BBQ by the pool is just amazing, with lovely fresh burgers, chicken & salad every day. As mentioned in previous reviews the booze is top quality brands and the mini bar in the bedrooms are restocked every day with water, beer & bottles of coke, 7UP and cans of Schwepps with 4 different spirits to use as much as you like. The little coffee and cake cafe is amazing with delicious gourmet coffees, teas, drinks and cakes to enjoy at any time of day or night. Sunbeds are very easy to get and there are lots of places to chill by the lovely warm pools. We ended up asking to use the pool beside the private villas as I felt that the loud music from the swim up bar coupled with the very loud music and activities from the animation team was not to my liking. I don't say this as a criticism, as it is a family hotel - I just didn't expect (and it is) the whole of the area of the 4 pools to be quite so consumed with the noise levels generated by these two sound systems. The beach was a disappointment to me. Plenty loungers and umbrellas but I'm sorry - I hated the horrible seaweed, and although it was cleaned a few times this didn't put a dent in it, and anyway you still have to wade through it to get into the water. It's really slimy and awful. We visited the RIU Cancun one day which is just along the coast and the beach was exactly as I liked with beautiful white powdery sand and clear. clean turquoise water. I know the seaweed isn't the hotels fault but I just want to be honest in my review. I'm giving the hotel a five star review mostly because of the staff, the lovely food and drinks plus the fact that when I asked to be allowed to use the quieter villa's pool it was agreed immediately.

Riu Palace Peninsula Cancun was absolutely everything we could’ve imagined! From the check in process, to the amount and space and services provided. We will be returning to Cancun eventually and this resort will be number one on the list.

Birthday Trip
Everything was great service was excellent room was great very clean upgraded to villas cop treatment. Drinks was great food was okay beach service was good and staff was wonder came in cleaned up room twice a day

Anniversary Stay
Excellent overall we enjoyed our time. all ov the amenities were great. some of the food was a bit repettitive but that is my only real complaint. staff was helpful and polite. i would definately return to visit again.
