Pools close too early. Could be better food options. Also staff at buffet was not friendly. Other than that the stay was great. Rooms were very clean and mini fridge was always restocked. Front desk staff was friendly.

Riu
My friends treated me with a weekend away for my bachelor party, however we were all unhappy with the level of service. When we first arrived, our accommodations were wrong. Instead of two rooms with two queens, we were given two rooms with a king. My friends noticed two double beds combined on one headboard the next day after being transferred to the correct room, effectively the same set up as a king. They had no choice but to sleep together. While I was pleased with the cleanliness of the bathroom and shower, our balcony railing felt a little shaky, with corrosion where it was bolted to the concrete. Room 1403. While the interior of the hotel appears to be in good condition, the exterior facing the beach is missing paint in some areas and does not look great. Elevators could use a refresh, and prepare to stop at every floor on the way down for breakfast in the early morning. Also, I don't think the resort has a service elevator because we shared rides with several maintenance workers. The cuisine was adequate. Nothing to get excited about. Breakfast and lunch buffets were usually better than the dinner buffet. The specialty restaurants were underwhelming, and we frequently left hungry. I looked forward to my poolside lunch. Jerk chicken, burgers, hotdogs, and vegetables are available. We arrived late on the first day due to travel issues and were unable to make reservations for dinner the following night due to capacity, so we had to settle for the buffet. Management did not make a concerted effort to find a solution for us. The lobby has a coffee shop, however it doesn't open until around 10 a.m. Early risers must walk down to the Buffett for a cup of coffee. I don't understand why they can't open the coffee shop earlier and spare guests a trip. By the way, the sweets at this coffee shop were the best in the resort. The mixed alcoholic cocktails were disappointing. They were never really felt by me. I settled on the local beer Khalik, which was tasty. The pool area was adequate. Since the dj is usually set up by the main pool, the swim up bar could have used some music. The towel stand is located on the far side of the resort and is inconvenient to reach after leaving the beach. I'm not sure why they don't have one on the beach. To borrow a towel, you must provide your towel card each day. The beach was just stunning. However, there was no lifeguard station, no drink service, and the local vendors quickly became annoying. They roam the beach all day, asking if you want jet skis, smokey smokey, sexy pinanpple cocktails, banana boats, parasail, and so on. I understand that the resort may not have much influence over this, but I wish they could do something. The most significant point, and the reason I would never choose this resort or any other Riu for that matter, is that my friend lost consciousness on the beach after being hit in the head by an umbrella. We were able to get him up to the pool, where we waited 5 minutes for a bag of ice. We asked for Advil and were told to go to the store across the street. Some associate arrived after asking with a rusted first-aid kit containing bandages and pads. The resort has no medical services. The lobby will call an ambulance for a hospital visit that is 30 minutes away.
