    More party than relaxing hotel

The hotel is in a good location on a clean beach, the sea can be a bit rough at this location. The hotel is clean and staff friendly and efficient, beds comfortable and rooms spacious. Rooms with an odd number face the pool area whereas the even numbered rooms face the beach but they are above the air conditioning machines so it can be noisy, not all rooms have a partial sea view. The food is excellent in the buffet and the four different restaurants. It’s a benefit that you can prebook the restaurants as many times as you want using the hotels app. The only downside of the hotel was the atmosphere, it was not relaxing as we wanted, noisy and boisterous intoxicated patrons were in abundance. If looking for a party style holiday then it is the place to go.

    Great place!

Beautiful place! Best beaches I’ve been too. Ocean is very clear as well. I’ve been to many different resorts and this resort by far had the best food! The drinks were good as well. It’s not the biggest resort but it we never felt like we didn’t have our own space. We felt safe when we ventured off the resorts to walk through some local shops that are a 10 minute walk away. The staff is very accommodating and a well run resort. Highly recommend!!!

    Great location, beautiful beach

We stayed at the RIU from Jan 7 - Jan 14. Here is our review: PROS-Great location, Beach is beautiful-chairs and umbrellas always available. People very friendly. Loved the Cappuccino Cafe. Taxis always available. Our view from Rm 1216 was beautiful looking outward-don't look down-overlooks the hotel ac system. We left the door open to hear the water at night. There were 2 pools. Easy walk to Atlantis and shop area. We went to Viola's next door for drinks and appetizers a couple of times. The food was hot there. CONS-AC is way too cold in the restaurants, lobby, etc. Elevators were a disaster-only 2 working and always packed. Spent a lot of time waiting for one. Food was never hot anywhere. The specialty restaurants seat you, give you a drink and then it's non stop eating. They bring each course one right after another to get you in and out. Not a pleasant dining experience especially because we had to wear coats when there. Bar pool was always packed but no one seemed to ever get out to use the restroom so we stayed away. Nothing to do in the evenings so bring cards. Beach gets very crowded when cruise ships are in port. All in all it was a nice get away but the RIU needs to add someplace where you can relax and enjoy a nice fine dining experience with a bottle of wine and not be rushed out. Even fixing the 3rd elevator won't solve that problem. AND turn down the AC some.

    Excellent All Inclusive

We loved it here. The staff was great and the pool deck is super fun. The beach is beautiful. The food is what you’d expect from an all inclusive—it’s good but not going to blow your mind. For us, it was everything we wanted: beautiful beach, ocean so clear and blue you can see straight to the bottom, lots of sand and all the drinks! Regarding the three cats across the street: two mostly white calicos and one orange and white tabby that someone below posted about—one looks almost completely blind in both eyes now and the other two are in different stages of eye infection too. We reached out to the humane society here (spoke to Inspector Graham, or maybe it was Grant, I’m not positive) and they said there’s a man named Bruce who takes care of cats on Paradise Island that could potentially swing by to take them in for care. If anyone is here in late Jan/early Feb and can follow up with the humane society please do! Don’t try to pet them, they are not socialized, but they will come out for food when you call them.
