    Hotel Riu Macao

Beautiful, comfortable room wit a great view, a little humid in the room but I think that could be handled with Damp Rid. Executive Club was well worth it!! Staff was Excellent. Food was Amazing. Looking forward to going back.

    Waste of Money. Go elsewhere!

Upgrade and go elsewhere. Stayed at this hotel for 5 days. Pros: the room and property were clean. Cons: air is finicky so room was always stuffy, RACISM. We are a Black American couple. There were very few other Black people staying at the hotel. In several instances we were ignored or called out for doing things that were okay for white tourists. 1. We went to lunch at the buffet. I had on a bikini with a cover up skirt. A staff member Diomedes points to my chest and just shakes his head. He didn’t use any words which was odd because I do understand Spanish. (Micro aggression 1) I get a shirt and go into the buffet only to see a white woman in a bikini top and skirt. Imagine that! 2. The next day we go from the pool to get lunch. I wore a full cover up but when we get to the buffet door Diomedes stops me to say I can’t go into the buffet because I’m wet…. As if we are not at a beach/pool hotel. I ask for a towel and he points me across the hotel to the 1 towel stand. I tell Him I don’t have my key and he walks away. Offers no solution, napkins, anything. Just walks away. This is interesting because there is another white person who walks in to the buffer wet with no issues. There was another white person whose shirt was soaking wet at the buffet. (micro aggression 2 from Diomedes) 3. Casino passes are passed out to people walking outside. We are not offered any until I ask in Spanish and loudly “What’s that?”. 4. The service was quite bad, slow at most bars unless there was literally no one else there. 5. We visited the pool bar at the hotel next door and children were allowed in, despite the No kids signs. 6. We walked to the other adults only RIU. It’s an hour + walk on the beach. When we arrive the guard says we can’t come in even though we have RIU Palace wristbands and can indeed visit other resorts. 7. Staff lets prostitutes on the premises. 8. I pre reserved transportation back to the airport online. A guy at the desk said there was no shuttle and offered me to take a taxi that they would arrange. I paid $60 for that. 9. Food was not good, not nasty but not good. 10. Rooms with elite club/pools don’t even all face the beach. You can not see over the brush, sand, etc. Elite club only has better alcohol at 1 particular bar outside and that has limited hours. Overall, front desk staff was very nice and spoke English so that was helpful since most of the staff doesn’t. Overall, DR is known for what it’s known for for a reason. I wont return especially not to this RIU

    Fools gold.

Just had 14 nights in this hotel and although it is a beautiful looking place with wonderful staff, there are some serious holiday ruining issues with the place. 1. The 5* s. Im afraid I can't see it, I've stayed in better 3-4 star.. The rooms although a great size felt damp even with the Aircon on which smelt like it could do with a service. I left a bottle of aftershave open in the room to try and beat the smell off the aircon. We filled 3 damprid bags in 14 days. Bathroom no complaints, excellent. 2. The food. Lived on slices of pizza and pasta for 2 weeks. It's an ok place if you'll eat anything. Very bland , flies darting about on it. 3. No pool monitoring of any kind. The swim up pool bar is where the drinks should stay. Not in the main pool. It was never refreshing and felt like getting into a warm bath each morning. 4. Not a hotel fault, more a Tui/Riu fault. The construction noise next door. 6.30 am until around 9 pm every day we were there. When we booked a year ago it was never mentioned. 5. I know it's not easy to please everyone. This was definitely not the 5* experience we were sold or expecting. Might aswell have took nearly £5000 and set it on fire in the garden. It is a shame such a beautiful location but I won't be coming back.

    Great birthday celebration

Just got back from the Macao had a great week at this resort! The weather was perfect and Hot! The food was excellent there is something for everyone shout out to Wilson and Roosevelt for their friendly attitude and attentiveness the rooms were very well air conditioned and always taken care of. I would definitely recommend this resort. The only thing I would recommend is for some sort of electronic bug zapper as the breads had a lot of flys.

Super all inclusive hotel with nice beach, pools, restaurants and party functions

We stayed here for 10 nights in December. The hotel room was nicely decorated (newly refurbished) and had a good size. Lots of closet space. The bathroom was also nice and big. There was a bar in the room with different liquors, and a minibar which was restocked every day with water, sodas etc. The hotel had 5 restaurants (buffet, italian, steak, asian/fusion and gourmet). There were also a restaurant for the Elite members, which we didnt have access too. The restaurant all served very good food, especially the steak house. All restaurants offered a 3 course meal. The buffet served a good selection of different foods every day. For lunch the options were the buffet restaurant or a grill house with stuff like hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos. We also used the room service a few times, where you could order food directly to your room. The room service menu was also included in the all inclusive. Room service was available 24/7. There was a cafe and different bars around the hotel as well, including a sports bar with a pool table and TVs that showed different sports event (soccer etc.) The hotel had 3 different pools, one of them included a pool bar. The beach was nice, but the ocean was a bit rough (lots of waves). There usually wasnt any problem with getting a sun bed, as there were lots of them around the pool and on the beach. The Elite Club had their own private beach section. The hotel definitely cateres to a younger clientele, with a more party vibe rather than a chill vacation. There were loud music around the pool area, and lots of people in the pool bar (which we found fun). The hotels also offers Riu Party, their own pool party venue. This was in walking distance from the hotel (5 min walk). There is also a shuttle bus if you dont feel like walking. There were day parties monday and friday, and night parties wednesday and saturday, each with their own themes (neon party, pink party, jungle party and white party). All the drinks in the venue are included, which was super nice. The staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the pool staff, they were super friendly and fun. They made the pool a fun place to be, and brought a good vibe. They set up different activites during the day, like dart, volleyball, bingo, waterpolo etc. At nightime there were different shows each night, which we enjoyed. They also had a casino. There was a shopping street not far from the hotel, with different shops. The shop owners were a bit intense, so it wasnt the best experience. The spa facilities and workout room was nice. There is also a waterpark included, but we didnt get to check this out. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel! A hotel where you will not be bored.
