Great place
Are visited Aldi RIU hotels and our one the Macau Palace was definitely the best one. The fact that you could visit the other hotels made to stay more interesting. My only problem was that when I picked the hotel I picked it because it had a spa and when we arrived the sauna and the steam room were not working and they didn't get repaired the whole time we were there so it was a big Downside for me we weren't offered any form of compensation but the rest of the holiday was brilliant. Thank you.

Super Vacation
I was not a big fan of 'all-inclusive' vacation resorts, but this one exceeded my expectations. The food was uniformly good at each meal, whether at the buffet or one of the specialty restaurants. The drinks were cold and tasty, and there was plenty to be had, no matter the time or type. The pools were clean and cool and the beach was beautiful. I can say I had a great time and I was also happy I left the property a couple of times to tour other parts of the island. I recommend doing day trips so you see more of what the DR has to offer in case you plan a return trip in the future as well. It was a great week.

No fun resort
Not enough entertainment or activities for adukts-the pool bar is WAY too small for an adult resort-rainy days there is absolutely nothing going on-if raining, no covered area to get to the main building-glass drinking glasses permitted in & around the pool- not enough English speaking staff members, especially at the restaurants or bars-plenty of seating at the pool’s & restaurants-food a bit above average-if you’re looking for a do nothing relaxing resort this is it-if you’re looking for fun filled vacay, this is not for you Tried Riu 2x, NO MORE

Mixed Bag
After an 11 night holiday at thus resort, we left dissapointed. We are a family of 3 and had booked 2 rooms. Wuth a piil vuew.1 for a couple and 1 for iur son who was celebrating his 21st birthday. Befire we arrived, i had emailes the hotel requesting rooms in te same area. Check in was poor, we were fiven very little info. We went to our rooms, we found our room to be clean bt there was a distinct smell of damp. On checking witg our son whi was allocated a room on the next floor, he gad gone to the room and found that it was occupied by other guests! He gad gone baxk to reception and he was given another room which had no pool view also the ac dudnt work. On conplaining, he got another roon. The hotel apologised and we were given good will gestures. We found the pool area to be quire boring in general ther would sonetines be loud thumping party music pkaying whixh was more suited to the+20 age group altgiugh the average age if clientell woul ve +45. There was absolutely no Caibbean atmisphere what ao ever. The beaxh was nice but not the best. There are 4 special reataurants, believe me there was nothing special about then! The buffet had a good ranfe if food but everything was lukewarm or cold. The was sime rude waitunf staff also in the buffet who frequently ignored us when lookinf for a table. All of us were ill afrer eating at the Japanese restaurant as were others at the hotel. The coffe shop was great although they removed all the nice cakes when tge buffet was open. The entertainment was average in tge evening wirh 2 hours if Spanish music playing bedore the main shows, sone of which was good. The entertainment are is in a corner of the hotel, durectly beliw approx 100+ rooms of wguch ours was. The musuc is very loud and you can annotingly it feels huat as loud in the rooms. The entertainment area ideally should be relocated awat from the rooms so people can get some sleep. I muat fuve a shout out to the sports bar guy in tge mornings, always a smile and great servuce. This was my 2nd stay at a Riu resort, honestly , there are better resorts out there that cost less!!! I will not be in a hurry to booj wuth Riu in the future. Date of experience: May 2025
