    The Riu Bávaro Food was subpar at best!

    The beach and ocean were fabulous. The food was terrible especially the Italian restaurant which was horrible! If you like tomato soup for sauce and so much salt to help taste this restaurant is for you. Service was inconsistent and stick to the buffet which had salad, fruit, butter pasta and hamburgers. Drinks were okay but no top shelf liquor and only presidente beer. Room was clean but dated.

    Great getaway!!!

    My family had a good time here, my kids was safe enjoyed the pool, staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the entertainment’s lots of laughter and good talent. The food stays coming lots of delicious pastries to have with your coffee and fruits to seafood amazing. Drinks unlimited memories for a lifetime.

    NICE BEACH, SERVICE NOT AS GOOD

    Upon arriving at the Bavaro the hotel seems lovely. We received an email from TUI 5 days before asking if we would like to ammend the holiday as there are still building works happening but having already re-arranged it once before due to this TUI advised us in store that the building works were hardly noticeable so we decided to proceed with the holiday especially as it had cost us an extra 3k to move from November last year to February this year. The first 2 joining rooms they put us in the construction was going on outside the room and they didn't stop until 11pm, shouting, drilling and whistling. Not what you want when you just arrive. Nothing in the rooms worked, the electrics, the TV, the taps, the coffee machines. Everything's seems run down and is in need of a good clean. We went to reception the morning after and asked to be moved as construction started again at 7am and with things not working in the room we wanted different rooms. They moved us into rokms above the restaurants which were not joining rooms as the only joining rooms they have is where the construction is happening. Again nothing in the rooms worked, run down the same as the other two rooms. TV fuzzy, sink leaking, showers mouldy, no gel dispenser on the wall as it had broke off so they put gel in a glass cup in the shower. Only one blanket at night which was stained. We'd paid 10k for this holiday so it's not what you expect really. Around the pool nearly all the sunbeds are broken with string holding them together, all umbrellas are broken, the pool could do with a good clean as there's loads of things floating around in it. The restaurants are the same and are run down and are due a refurbishment. The service isn't good at all. To say this is a 5 star we were left in a morning with no coffee and there's no refill dispenser machines to get any drinks, the service is very poor and slow. It was also my husbands Birthday which is why we had moved it to this date. I came down to see some reps the day before to arrange to surprise my husband at dinner. Was told to go and sort it at reception. Went to reception, they told me to go to the restaurant and find the manager Pascowl. So went to find the manager after nearly slipping on the very slippy floor as it's slippy throughout all the hotel. Pascowl wrote all details down for the day after for balloons, singing happy birthday and a cake brought out in the Krystal Restaurant at 6:30pm. We turned up the day after at 6:30pm expecting balloons to be set out. Tried telling them on the door as we walked in that I had spoken to Pascowl but they didn't understand English. So we sat down thinking they would remember and they didn't. I was very upset over this and it ruined my surprise that I had for him. The beach on the other hand is amazing, clear sand and sea but again the sunbeds are broken, there's no drinks service on the beach. Beware of the parrots, monkeys and lizards as they come and place them on your shoulders, especially the kids shoulders, say that they are charging per person then charge you way above that. One of the days we ventured to to Riu Punta Cana as you can use that hotel during the day, the difference is amazing, that is more of a 5 star than this is. Really clean, no broken sunbeds, food is cleaner. The pools are cleaner, the whole hotel is a lot lot better. We also did the dolphin trip on the boat by booking down at pool, having done Mexico dolphins there is a massive difference from this one and that one. The boat also left us and a private boat had to take is back out to join the main boat, this was due to them putting different coloured bands on us at dolphin island and putting us in the last group. We kept telling them that we had to be back on the boat for 3pm but no one listened. On the whole it was a lovely holiday as it is what you make it. Would I return? I don't think I would due mainly to the very slow and lack of service.

    Riu is the best

    Great hotel, great services, great food. Nice place to travel with kids (2 yrs and 4 yrs) Definitely i will be back with my family. Mu kids was so happy swimming in pool and ocean so all was great....

    A True Gem in Bavaro: Exceptional Service and Memorable Stay As avid vacationers at RIU Palace resorts in the Caribbean, my wife and I recently had the pleasure of returning to Riu Palace Bavaro for the third time in February 2024. Our previous stays in 2015 and 2016 had set high expectations, and once again, we were blown away by the excellence that prevails across all RIU Palace properties. Undoubtedly, the heart and soul behind this exceptional experience is Roberto Miller, the Director and General Manager of Riu Palace Bavaro, along with his dedicated team. From the moment we stepped foot on the resort, it was evident that every aspect of our stay was meticulously curated for maximum enjoyment. The management team, led by Roberto Miller, along with Miguel Peguero, Fernandez Perez, Juan Polanco, and others, ensures the seamless functioning of the resort, making it a truly all-inclusive paradise. Special mention must be made of Rascual Jimenez, Juan Cristobal, Johan Ylisa, Yuverca Guerrero, Cesarin Nieves, Eusebio Brown, and Nicolas Castillo, whose efforts contribute significantly to the resort's success. The reception and front desk staff, including Richard Gonzales, Ramon Cedeno, Enrique Rosario, Jose Luis Morales, and their team, greeted us warmly upon arrival, setting the tone for our stay. Their efficiency and professionalism were exemplary, ensuring a smooth check-in process. Throughout our 12-night stay, we were treated to impeccable service and hospitality at every turn. The resort boasts six restaurants offering a diverse range of cuisines, expertly curated by Head Chef Juan Cristobal. Whether indulging in a gourmet meal or sipping on refreshing beverages by the pool, every culinary experience was a delight. The resort's extensive list of activities, from yoga and Zumba to volleyball and ping pong, ensured there was never a dull moment. Evenings were filled with enchanting music and captivating performances, providing the perfect end to each day. One notable feature we appreciated was the sliding screen doors in all balcony rooms, allowing for a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. This attention to detail truly enhanced our stay and set Riu Palace Bavaro apart from the rest. What is also remarkable about Riu resorts including this one, is that on the beach they don't have mildew and mold infested palapas for shade, instead they have a "forest" of palm trees that provide shade. One never feels claustrophobic under the shade of the palm trees -- it's a beach that breaths. The endless sandy beach was perfect. There was no trace of Sargasum.sea weed. Only 4 out of 12 days the Atlantic was calm enough to swim. The other days we went into the water to cool off which was still fun. We aren't pool vacationers but I can reassure those who prefer pools there always seemed to be vacant sun loungers. The beach towels were clean and plentiful but many of them showed signs of wear and tear. The four Riu resorts that are adjacent to each other share tennis courts, Splash water park, disco and a night club where they have the fun and extravagant White, Neo and Pink theme weekly parties. There's a shuttle that takes guests to and from the different Riu resorts. Riu Palace Macao also has a casino which is open to all guests over 18. We would give 5 starts to all categories and aspects of Riu Palace Bavaro. The one exception are the nightly shows. In conclusion, if you're seeking a resort where exceptional service and hospitality reign supreme, look no further than Riu Palace Bavaro. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Roberto Miller, his dedicated staff, and everyone who contributed to making our stay truly unforgettable.
