Great family trip
Just got back from excellent 14 day holiday in Aruba. Great hotel, clean ,well equipped rooms. Restaurants and buffets very good quality and good variety. Tried the Italian which was excellent, but not prepared to queue for the others when the buffet was so good. Plenty of sunbeds by the pool but fewer palapas available on the beautiful beach. All the staff were top notch - attentive, friendly and courteous- and an absolute credit to the company without exception. I have given 4 stars and not 5 due to the noise. It is very much a "party" hotel at times where people ( overwhelmingly Americans) just shouted constantly for no reason at all including the corridors at night and even if they were sat next to each other. This was often against a background of thumping music from the swim up bar, competing with thumping music from the pool aerobics , sometimes competing with speakers people brought to the pool. ( brilliant instructors taking the classes even if just watching ) On party nights the bars closed early presumably to tempt people to the entertainment but it would have been nice to have a quiet area somewhere to sit and drink. The other thing was the lifts which often left people waiting a long time and were impossible to predict. Building work next door not a problem at all. Casino slots very tight. Overall a great hotel, wonderful staff but, for us, missing a relaxed island vibe.

Can’t recommend this hotel
Pillows are flat, you cannot make reservations for dinner so we did not eat at several of the restaurants. OceanWater is murky. Entertainment was terrible really they had none. Quests were rude and they catered to the rude quests. I can’t recommend this hotel and I will not stay at another Riu. Hotel needs a complete renovation.

stayed this past weekend and wasn't impressed with the common areas. the lobby seating and barstools were a bit dated. the hallways were dated, with the old carpet tile flooring with beach sand in the carpet. the floor hallway had dated textured. you can tell that they updated the rooms, but they didn't touch the hallwi. They also noticed guest using their fingers to taste and try food from the buffet bar. the steak restaurant was under repair while i was there. on my last day i observed the server take an extra cup of water from my table, walked over to another guest table and dropped the cup of water off, without knowing if i drunk out of the cup. also, on the weekend, they had a dj playing trap music in the pool area. but on Monday, they had a band playing carribean/latin music. the overall staff was great but, choose what days you would go. the location of the hotel was walking distance to all the shops and restaurants where you can enjoy the entrainment and food. ps. the food at the hotel was like any other buffet bar, hmm ok for the price you pay i expected more.

RIU Antilles the good, bad and the ugly.
Just came back from RIU Antilles was there for 4 days 3 nights. The Good: Room was nice, bed was comfortable, bar was stacked with Liquor, sodas and 2-3 bottles of large water. All inclusive included bar stations all along the hotel, 4 restaurants plus a buffet. Food was good. Overall servive was good all the workers were friendly and accommodating. The Bad: This hotel definitely needs to hire a new pastry chef, pastries, cakes, deserts etc were bland they all tasted the same. The price of the activities within the hotel were at least 40% higher than booking the activities on the beach. Plus the workers would say you are not going to get the same this and that total lies. The carnival room was large but it was so hot and humid inside plus the most uncomfortable seats. The Ugly: pool is unspectacular, needs to be renovated.(Much nicer pool in the RIU Palace, there is construction going on next door to the hotel during the week. Hotel Casino was dead had more workers on the floor looking at your every move than people gambling. Could be the $25 a hand black Jack tables and $30+ roulette and craps plus money grabbing slot machines which never hit. Overall a nice trip but don’t count on the weather. We only had one day of Sun.
