    Not worth it!

I would not recommend this hotel for a few reasons. If you want all inclusive buffet, this is your place. You have to wait in line for the restaurants in the heat and not guaranteed a seat. The food is not very good on the buffet, spotty.rooms are clean but very bland. Try allow people to place towels in chairs at 5:00am and not show up until noon. No beach bar service and the close the pool at 6:30!! This is my first and last time at Rui! Aruba water is beautiful! Spend your money somewhere else!

    Not returning

I was counting down the days to return to the Rui because I had such a great experience back in May 2018. But wow, things have changed. Upon arriving to the hotel, check in was smooth…then my luggage was lost. The staff did absolutely nothing to assist expect continuously state that they were waiting for the bellmen to return to see if they had my luggage. When all 3 returned without my luggage, they still refused to check the camera to see where my luggage would’ve possibly gone. It turned out that one of the bellmen took my luggage, although it was not tagged, and brought it to a completely random room. Finally get to the room, there was blood on the pillowcases and on the floor. The cleaning service manager came to the room, confirmed there was blood on the pillowcases and said they’d be changed. She told me the blood on the floor was actually “coffee”…regardless. It needed to be cleaned. We went for dinner and came back…the “coffee” was still there. After 4 hours, both items were situated. Went to use the shower - pot light was out and there was black mould along the caulking. Went to use the blow dryer, it fell right out of the holder on the wall because it was not secured. It was obvious that it had been reattached to the wall fitting so many times because of the number of scratches on the back of the box. The cleaning staff didn’t even hang it back up - I’m sure they knew it would just fall again so what was the point. Went to use the gym, the mats are so old and grungy. If you lay down on them and get back up, there were blue specs attached to you. Also, not enough weight stacking pins in each machine. So you’d have to take it from another machine and hope no one was using it. Also, towels were not replenished…only saw them there twice. We often found that staff would overcomplicate things too - we asked for 10 water bottles at front desk. They would not deliver them to the front desk where we all were though. It had to be delivered to a room. Strange? When it was delivered, the commentary was “you know, we don’t typically deliver this many bottles.” Not sure why a comment like this is warranted. Unprofessional and rude. The beach was stunning. Crystal clear water. So picturesque. But you needed to choose your beach chairs wisely because so many of them were cracked. Also, the drink return stations appeared broken and often many drink cups left for hours on end. The front desk slipped a letter under our door to further discuss. Although it took us a few days to get to the front desk to sit down to have a conversation, we often felt like we were to blame. We had other commitments being apart of a wedding group of 30…so we were unable to meet until a couple days after. Regardless, the issues were made known to many individuals as they arose (check in staff, Nuria, cleaning staff, etc.). With all this, customer service offered us a late check out and bottle of champagne. We were with a group of 30 with private transfer to the airport so late check out did nothing for us. And a bottle of champagne at an all inclusive resort? Interesting…they offered that at every restaurant within the resort. We had asked if they could instead provide a couples massage. They told us to wait for an email. Two days went by and no response. We were then offered late check out and champagne again. This was such a different experience from May 2018. Many of the friends & family we were with noted they would not be returning to this resort

    The beach is everything

Just got back from Aruba -stayed at Riu Antillas with my family! The beach is absolutely gorgeous! It was paradise. It was my mom’s birthday so I emailed the hotel a couple days before and Kayla promptly sent me an email saying that they could put balloons and a slice of cake for my mom. When we got there and checked in there was a beautiful bunch of balloons and Hershey kisses on her bed. Later that night they brought her a delicious piece of cake. That was such a nice touch! The resort is pretty with tons of tiki huts! Towels are one per person and people line up at 5am in the morning to claim their chairs-the good spots on the beach. Not sure if it was just the crowd we were with but all the spots were claimed by 7:30am. If you went down later(8am) you would be sitting in the sun all day. The chairs are locked and the “beach” guys didnt start handing out chairs until 6am. Towels are available at 7am and closes at 6pm. The beach chairs are taken and locked up again at 6:30pm so if you want to sit on a chair after that GOOD LUCK! The staff is friendly but wont go out of their way to help you. If you want something you need to ask MULTIPLE and I mean multiple times but YOU will get it. Ex-extra towels in room, soap, bottled water, etc. Huge shoutout to several people that did go above and beyond Michelle(buffet), Viv in coffee shop, and Shayla who cleaned our room! Rooms are dated and needs to be refreshed! Beds are super small and not very comfortable! However the resort is SUPER CLEAN! You can always see people cleaning all the time! A couple strange incidents - one day they decided to paint the coffee shop in the morning right at breakfast(IMO the busiest time of the day), went to the Aruba restaurant-which wasn’t very good-flies everywhere a lot ended up in our wine or food, the servers didnt seem to care, they looked like they didnt want to be bothered. Elevators were out several times! And one day the hotel lost power! But the resort did pivot quite nicely to accommodate and handled the situation very well. Italian and steakhouse restaurants were very good-however lobsters were very tough and they couldn’t seem to get our orders correctly-but the food and service made up for it. One quick note about the Steakhouse -you need to line up early for early seating! This was by far the most popular restaurant. There is also a french restaurant which we didnt go to! The Buffet is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner-they have an enormous variety of food which was amazing. The food was fresh and delicious-some nights they sushi, Mexican, etc! Fresh fruit was delicious and plenty of it! Absolutely luved the papaya and passion fruit! There is tons of food so you wont be disappointed as there is something for everyone -including vegetarian and vegan options. The drinks were by far better in the lobby than at the beach and pool bar. Entertainment-there is plenty of it depending on what you want to do! By the pool there is always something going on and every Friday they have a white or neon party which is tons of fun! Entertainment squad is awesome! There is construction going on-but that wasn’t where the noise comes from! If you are at the end of the building closest to construction (34s, 36,38s side of the building) you will hear loud booming music and see flashing lights, and lots of other random noises at night. We were in 938 and it was VERY LOUD! There is a casino and the squad in there are super nice! Often times we would ask them to put on the Yankees game and they always made sure we were having a great time! The beach really is everything-NO SEAWEED, the water is clear and warm-it’s like being in a wave pool! It is super windy but that is Aruba for you! This definitely could be a 5 star resort but definitely is not there yet! If you are looking for service do not come here however if you want a fun relaxing vacation with an amazing beach, great weather and decent food then this is the place for you!
