    Maui Hilton

As HGVC members, we got a package to come to Hawai'i and this was apparently the only way to get a stay at this resort. The resort came to Hilton via acquisition and you can tell that it is older but in good shape. Everything is well kept and at this time of the year, not crowded thankfully. We like the location because it's easy to access groceries and food since our unit doesn't have a cook top, only an electric skillet to cook with. There is a blender, toaster, coffee maker, good size refrigerator, toaster and old dish washer. Free self laundry is down the hall. The bar seems to be hopping at night with live music and happy hour. There is a BBQ on Fridays with a reasonable price e.g., $4 for a pretty hefty size hot dog. Free self parking too. We went to check out the Hilton Bay Villa property which of course will be brand new but we prefer this location. Service is good. We asked for the room to be serviced during our 6 night stay which is an exception. Glad they could accommodate even though they got the days mixed up. The room was spacious and bed comfortable. We even had an ocean view to see whales in the distance Have to come in KJanuary next time. I'd definitely come here again.

    A great place to stay

I stayed here 20 years ago and liked it then. Now, 20 years later, it’s still a great place to stay. This time we were a family of 5 and got a two bedroom suite, which turned out to have two bathrooms despite the fact that someone at Hilton told me that there would only be one! It had a full size refrigerator and even two burners for cooking plus a wraparound balcony. The staff was always helpful and responsive, we never had trouble getting chairs or towels at the pool, and there was a small almost private beach. Plus, we were just a few steps from the large Kaanapali beach and boardwalk. A hotel employee emailed me ahead of time and helped us arrange discounted tickets to a few activities, plus gave us plenty of good advice on groceries, beaches and expeditions. We loved the food at the Fish Market and Pizza Paradiso, both a short walk from the hotel. We would definitely come back again.

Great First Time Experience/Food Service is Lacking

As an HGV Max owner it was a great experience. They upgraded our room after a few nights there to an ocean front instead of an ocean view. The rooms have been refreshed and are nicely appointed. Couple of issues with the gift shop on the main level and the food service situation really needs to be rectified. There is no service available and have to order what is essentially take out food and the food is mediocre for the expense. I understand that they are going through updates/upgrades and with the terrible situation in Lahaina it is completely understandable that there are staffing issues etc. however with there being no poolside service, room service availability and mediocre food choices it's hard to give a 5 star review. We went across the street for the food truck park and other places to eat. The staff was very accommodating and the property was very clean and we really enjoyed our stay there and are already looking to book next year as we are now owners here and transferred our ownership from Cabo. Hopefully the food and service situation will be better by then. Aloha and Mahalo.

A major renovation should have been done years ago!

The resort staff are excellent but they don't have much to work with. The rooms are outdated with uncomfortable beds and furniture that needs cleaning. The kitchen is tiny with minimal cupboard space and only a microwave to cook with. Our dishwasher had rusted out racks on both the top and bottom, the refrigerator was missing most of the shelving on the inside door and freezer, there was a funny smell in the bathroom (stagnant water somewhere in the lines?) and flushing the toilet resulted in a gurgling sound in the kitchen sink (trap). This is nowhere near the standard of a typical Hilton branded timeshare.

    Nice to be back home

We are Diamond/HGV members. I do spend a bit to time in the last year but I always am able to find room availbility in the last several years. This has been our "home" when in Maui. Staff are always very helpful and pleasant. Pool is the greatest! Bed is comfy and the bathroom is huge. If you like room service or eat at the hotel restaurant, this may not be your best option. But for us, we like to try other places to eat and we don't need to spend money at expensive restaurants. Across the street is a strip mall with a good pizza/mediterranean cuisine, a Mexican, and a Hawaiian BBQ restaurants. In the evenings, the grounds in front of the hotel hosts food trucks. Up the road, you can get to the ABC store for lunch/dinner takeout, Maui Fish Market for great seafood, and if you stand in line, you can get one of the best cinnamon rolls baked fresh each day. One of our favorite things about this resort is the location - to restaurants, and access to the boardwalk which we walk all the way to Whaler's Village.
