Several emails trying to get a wine tasting scheduled. No reply…
We had moldy pillows and cushions in our room. No one on site had the ability to fix things. No ability for wine tasting as advertised. Preferred club has no advantage over standard guests. Not worth the upgrade. Great service….just no ability to take care of small or large issues. Store onsite wants $100+ for a ball cap or a swim suit…. Sunglasses over $200 usd. Avoid the store, robbery. Great facility, great location, just not a great Secrets property.
Just arrived home after five fabulous nights! Here to affirm that this resort is truly spectacular! Bisou was our favorite dinner, for sure, but all the others were veryyyy good, too! (We didn’t do Dos Almas.) The nightly entertainment was amazing(especially if you’re a live music fan like we are—loved having hours of that every evening). The pools were beautiful and just the right temperature for 82-84 degree weather. As mentioned by others, this resort is not one to choose if a beautiful / scenic beach is crucial for you—we knew this, and we’re pool people overall anyhow. We cannot wait to come back!
Such a great experience!
Jose was great, he made sure we knew about all the activities, both day and night, and we loved that he participated in them with us. Miguel was a great help, he kept food and drinks constantly coming to our “cenote takeover day”. The shows and dance club were super fun.
An excellent vacation spot, predominantly couples, lots to do. Love the cenotes and pool options. Beach area is smaller, but still lovely. It is a little further away from the airport but worth the drive.
February Birthday Break
We stayed at Secrets Moxche from the 1st until the 11th February and whilst we were away it was my birthday - the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a lovely birthday (thanks to the hubby for mentioning it) including my 34+1 day cake and balloons when I left the room on do not disturb and they couldn't set up on the day :) Genuinely one of the most stunning resorts we've visited; every detail was so well thought out, multiple pools and pool types, never too far away from a bar, and a great range of restaurants. The rooms were stunning, and had everything you needed - full size toiletries (so no need to bring shampoo / conditioner), repellent (which, as someone who is very reactive to mosquito bites, worked far better than our own), and a really good size room, with the addition of a gorgeous balcony area. Mini bar kept stocked throughout our stay, room was kept immaculate every day and staff were so responsive to any request. We didn't use room service, or the spa during our visit, so can't comment on that. Pros: - The rooms - we stayed in the main part of the hotel and the rooms were incredible - huge bed, lounging area, excellent balcony, huge bathroom with seperate toiler / shower and double unit sinks. - Every single member of staff at the resort was amazing, from the welcome team, to the concierges, to the pool and entertainment team - we were never 5 minutes without a drink in hand - The restaurants - my word, we have come home a lot heavier! We used the grill a couple of times during our stay, as is so convenient for the pools near to the beach, but all of the restaurants are worth visiting. The Japanese was a personal favourite and we went twice during our stay, and Bamboo was a great vegan spot. The buffet for breakfast or lunch had SO much choice, everything was great, you could find something for every craving. - Look & feel - the hotel is really beautiful, and how it is laid out and designed is brilliant, the cove pool was perfect if you want to be in a quieter location during the day, and lots of different zones where you could base yourselves - Coffee shop - having the coffee shop open 24 hours is such a perfect addition, and the cakes & ice cream were brilliant as a sweet treat late-afternoon or after dinner. Great range of drinks available, including oat and almond milk for the fussy ones amongst us (me) - Lots of live music and entertainment Cons: None are enough to not give a 5-star review but just some small things we observed: - There seemed to be a lot of corporate events held at the hotel - or at least were when we were there. The first of which during our stay was quite loud and the pool closest to the beach was giving spring break vibes - not a problem as there were multiple pools available, so we moved for those days just so we could relax but just something to bare in mind - We didn't think Ember was the best - I don't know whether we were just unlucky on the night we visited, but the service felt a little bit slow to get drinks and place orders, and then felt as though the staff were covering too many tables and was quite rushed, but still worth visiting! - For the majority of restaurants, if the males weren't wearing long trousers, you'd only be seated outside - which in most instances was fine, but one or two nights when it would have been nice to sit inside when the wind had picked up - The Sports Bar was only open from 4pm - think there's definitely an opportunity for UK guests to show some UK sport - but only our perspective - Gym stated as open from 7am, but people seemed to go in before that unmanned, which is perfect for us. But then a couple of days it was closed until 7am, so it was a tad confusing; I would say open at 6am personally (or 24hr for those of us with jet lag) Shout out to the staff who made it all so wonderful; the pool / swim up bar team did not stop from the moment the bar opened, the entertainment team were all brilliant and a special shout-out to Fermin who always checked in with us (and gladly didn't force me to embarrass myself in any type of activity...), to the pool concierges who always made sure we could find a bed, and the team of entertainers who ran the shows and evening entertainment. Would recommend Secrets Moxche to anyone looking for a relaxing break, with lots of sun, food & drink.
