4/5 stars
Overall the hotel is 5 stars. The lobby and surroundings were very well kept and service was excellent. Especially Kari at the front desk helped us when we first arrived. My family loved the hotel, it’s beautiful and the jungle area in the middle was very cool. There were no seaweed on the beach but it was very hard to find lounge chairs both on beach and swimming pool. The swimming pool area needs refurbishing the floors were coming off and overall did not have the feel of a 5 star hotel. We loved that the hotel was not using any plastic bottles. The food at the restaurant was good but felt like the buffet food and desserts were lacking compared to the last three hotels we stayed at in Quintana Roo. It was also annoying that you have to make reservations for dinner and therefore we were only able to enjoy three of the restaurants. Overall would reccomend this place but food and pool needs improvement.

Bad hotel
We can choose between this hotel and Barcello hotel. I regret to choose iberostal. Apart from mini zoo which is at the hotel there is nothing special. Old and broken swimming pool. Me and my friend broken legs while playing water volleyball. The drink, room, to small sunbeds is very poor quality. After 11 pm nothing to do in the hotel. I do not recommend .

5 stars in paradise
Excellent resort ! My daughter and I initially booked the Tucan which is essentially the same resort next to Quetzel. We were put in room 2001 which was oceanfront Beach access. Beautiful room. Lots of outlets and AC was cold. All the staff was fantastic and treated us great. Wildlife everywhere and drinks were strong (tipping always helps). Grounds are beautifully maintained and we never saw a mosquito or fly during our 8 days. Brandon the conceiger at the Tucan was great and was our go to guy for reservations. My congratulations to the manager. Hotel is run great and we had a fantastic time.

Great little resort but we all got sick
I would give it 5 stars. The resort itself is very good. The beach is excellent, with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. The staff is very efficient, courteous and willing to help (but that's mostly true with any Iberostar resort that's why we like this chain). Excellent fitness team, Sunrise yoga was the highlight of my stay. The jungle with waterfalls and all kinds of wild animals and birds is really cool, kids club does an animal walk to teach kids about all these animals. Kids club ladies are great. The bad: we all got sick. 5 out of 6 people in our party. We don't know if it was food or drink, but we all got upset stomachs. All 3 kids got very high fever, diarrhea and vomiting. All 3 had to be taken to the hospital or urgent care. We never left the resort, so it's gotta be something there. I admire their effort to go green, but honestly I'd feel much safer if I had access to bottled water rather than water fountain in the building. Have to add that doctor in the resort was very helpful and Hospiten Hospital she sent us to really helped (although at an exuberant amount of money). Also consider the location of your building - we stayed in the room that faced the jungle - every morning ~6am monkeys woke up and started screaming. Buildings next to the beach or next to the lobby are quiet.

Great calm vacation
Suberb hotel. We choose it because I felt other hotels would feel too Americanized. The hotel has a good jungle setting with multiple animals (peacocks, monkey, turtle, pink flamingo and other small animals). The food was great and the staff always smiling. We also had a 50 minutes massage which was great.
