A disappointing experience in a dated resort with poor food and subpar customer service.
This place was completely underwhelming. The resort is in dire need of a refresh. The staff seemed uninterested and showed very little motivation to help with questions or concerns. Food was poor, including the on-property restaurants. Reserved two rooms for the week and requested them to be close to each other (not next door, not connected … just close). Told us that they could not accommodate the request. However, miraculously, if we upgraded our rooms, we could get them next to each other! We upgraded and frankly the rooms were the exact same as deeper on property with a better view of the resort next to us than anything else. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Disappointing.

Highly recommend the brisket
he Hacienda Restaurant was excellent! The brisket and the empanada can't be missed--by far they were the best food at the resort. The wait staff is friendly, great environment, we highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. Make your reservation early!

this is my first time here since being a kid. I came with my family for my sisters wedding. I am having a great time.
i really like the atmosphere that comes with this resort. All workers are really friendly and welcoming to all guests. Though i don’t speak much spanish i still felt welcomed despite being in mexico. It really is a great place

Still love the Quetzal/Tucan, BUT…….
I have stayed at numerous resorts in Mexico and on a number of Caribbean islands, and loved the Quetzal/Tucan from the start! So much so that we joined The Club, and now vacation with Iberostar exclusively. The employees are outstanding and their biggest asset! All were so helpful and welcoming, but a big shout out to Javier, at the outdoor Star Prestige lounge. Don’t ever lose this guy! We also had the privilege of having Michaela as our server numerous times over the month we stayed. She’s a gem! Fantastic sense of humor! The food is not gourmet, but pretty dang good for an all—inclusive, and believe me, I’ve had much worse! I wish there was more shrimp, and lobster’s non-existent, but at this price point, I get it! Drinks were great with plenty of variety. Rooms are comfortable and kept very clean! Beach and grounds are wonderful!l Loved all the wildlife! Would’ve given them 5 stars, except for the nightly entertainment which was really a disappointment over past years! We greatly missed the live music in the lobby lounge!! It was hit or miss this year, whereas in the past, we enjoyed this nightly. There is simply no where to dance or just listen to fine music anymore! PLEASE bring this back to nightly. Doesn’t seem like it would be that expensive to do so! There is not a nightly big show either without counting karaoke and games with guests. We missed the big shows, but even more importantly missed the live one man/woman band in the lobby lounge. We would love to enjoy this nightly again and for longer than a couple of hours. The disco which opens at 11 is full of very young adults listening to very young hip hop music. Most of your guests are middle age or older, so this option is worthless to us.
