Has been better. Long time customer
Iberostar Cozumel has been our happy place for 15 years. This year (Aug 1-6), we were disappointed. The pool was very dirty; thousands of insects that were not removed nightly. Housekeepers ignored 'do not disturb ' signs. We visit every year for our anniversary, and usually get some recognition or upgrade, but not this year. La Ventana ice cream machine was out of service the whole time. Front desk employees were not up to their usual standards, and getting a bellman for checkout took an hour, adding to the stress of getting to the airport on time. It's still a great place, but it isn't what we've come to expect over the years. Hope this downhill slide can be reversed. Since Iberostar has joined IHG, it seems like a Holiday Inn Express.

Great location, great rooms, love the commitment to sustainability
Great location close to dive/snorkel spots, rooms are large and clean, each has a front and back porch to put swimming and diving gear. We wanted to be away from cruise ship traffic and close to the reef, mission accomplished! It also very easy to get into town and to mainland if you want to do things off the property. Love the commitment to sustainability with no single use plastics - I suggest bringing an insulated water - and the layout makes it feel smaller and more connected to nature. Food was solid, we especially liked the Mexican food restaurant. Sights during day and night dives were amazing! I expressed concern to the dive shop that we were brought way too close to the coral reefs for my comfort, they responded promptly and had spoken to our dive guides (although not clear whether they considered it to be an issue). The property came under IHG ownership a few days before we were there, hope it’s able to maintain all its positives.

Would come again!
Lovely spot with beautiful well-kept grounds integrated with the island’s animals. Very friendly staff, especially Montserrat who went out of her way to check in on me and make sure that I was aware of all the resort had to offer. I was also super impressed with the food!

Wonderful Again! 🤗
We have stayed at Iberostar before the pandemic, last time we were there was Nov 2018 It was nice to be back and see some members of the staff we know from previous holidays. Our flight got changed and we got there around 10pm we were the only ones checking in so it was quick. The restaurants were closed by then and like before they have some snacks available until 1am now it is set up at the Oriental restaurant. So next day we started exploring the hotel, it is still as nice as always, the gardens very tidy and clean, something that is new (for us after nearly 5 years without coming back) are the water and ice stations they are located around the facilities which is a good idea. Another good changed was that rooms are much better now, they did some work inside the rooms and they look more modern and lighter than before the bathroom is nicer too thumbs up on that one 👍 Beds are conformable and the housekeeping staff keep them clean. There is a mini fridge in the room that gets restocked everyday with a couple of beers and soft drinks. Restaurants haven't changed much. The food in general is very good, the buffet has a little for everyone there were plenty of options to choose from every night the menu changes. There are 4 main restaurants, main Buffet (breakfast and dinner), Oriental, Mexican and the Smokehouse (lunch and dinner) I think the smokehouse and the oriental close one night I can't remember which night! Something new is that at the Smokehouse the only thing you chose from the menu is the dessert, the menu is already set up, 1st course a salad, the main course is a plate with beef, pork, chicken, a sausage and sides: french fries, I believe coleslaw and something else the food was good though. Another good changed is the gym! the gym looks much much better and the equipment is also much nicer. Manolo was very helpful at the gym, he does yoga, aerobics and zumba lessons every day. The pool area was clean and the water temperature was nice. There are only two places for smoking one outside the lobby and one near the pool. The beach was clean lucky in this side of the island there is not sargassum. As you may heard the beach is rocky and the easiest way to get into the ocean is by the steps by the pier or wearing water shoes. For people who likes scuba diving or are planing to try it there is a company that provides this service they teach everyday by the pool and it is very easy to go to the ocean since they leave from the pier at the beach the staff at Dressel are very nice and helpful highly recommended! The hotels is very popular for scuba diving and I saw many people bringing their own equipment dry it outside the rooms and at night bring it inside the room. Entertainment: in previous visits the shows were performed by the entertainers that organise the activities during the day by the pool now it seems to be a different that perform the shows. They have activities everyday all day long for kinds and adults you need to check their schedule to see whats going on, some of the activities i remember: guessing games, bingo, beach volleyball, pool volleyball, ping pong, another game with a frisbee it is called KanJam which seems to be hard to play but it is easy and fun, quiz games, jenga, archery, corn hole etc… Fabian, Daniela, Luis will be looking for you! Starcamp (kids club) very helpful if you have spa appointment they have activities for kids up to 12 years old if I am not wrong. A big thank you to Rosa and Ismael for keeping our son entertained doing some handicrafts and painting he loved it there! on our last day he was desperate to go to the star camp at 8am lol, they open from 10am to 6pm. On Wednesdays they do a pyjama party 6:30-8:30pm (ideal if you have a romantic dinner) it has an extra cost (300 mexican pesos) they set up a bonfire by the beach and then they go back to the star camp to continue with more games and dancing also they have some food for the kids during that time. In general this resort is very nice and relaxing and the service is nice as well, remember you are coming to stay at the jungle! so be prepare for some mosquitos, humidity… (not too bad, just keep that in mind) Thank you to: Restaurants and bars: Isidro, Guadalupe, Alicia, Liliana, Wilmert, Carlos, Reyes, Cindy, Gaspar, Reynaldo, David, Ana. Front desk and guest services: A big thank you to Suemy and Antonio always very helpful, bellboys Rolando and David, Alexander at the guest service desk, and Raul at the prestige helping with some requests very professionally. And to everyone that works hard to keep Iberostar on going! maintenance, housing keeping, stewards, everybody at the kitchens, security, admin people. Final comments for future guests: * Bring some mosquito repellent, the hotel provides some in the room and it is eco-friendly but just in case you don’t like that one. * There is only one ATM at the hotel that gives only USD dollars. * The taxi costs 20USD one way to downtown, it’s about 30 mins. * They don’t use straws anymore, so if traveling with kids maybe pack a reusable bottle with straw.
