Great value for the price if you set your expectations accordingly

If you're looking for value for money, then you can stop reading here - this place is the good. However if you're into the details of the experience...; Beach: Really beautiful however do note that in May at least there is a ton of seaweed on the shore and in the water. The hotel staff clean it up the sand every morning but it will come back quickly. Snorkeling is limited as the water is not clear right by the hotel. Pool: Massive pool in the middle of the property with a swim up pool and a bubble tub in the middle. Do wish they had an adult's area or a separate pool entirely but honestly not bad. Rooms: I got a junior beachfront suite, the balconies do not have beach access you have to walk quite far around to access the beach. The room was slightly more spacious and had an extra desk and couch which came in handy. Not all the plugs worked in my room, iron wasn't working properly and the phone could not call the front so I had to use my mobile/app. Bathroom was very modern and clean but slight drainage issue in shower. Drink fountain outside of the room, big glass refillable bottles provided. Minibars refilled everyday (beer + soft drink). Buffet: Pretty standard quality food, my only complain is the meat was always WAY too over-cooked. Cheap quality cuts if prepared well could still be great, but every piece of meat I had was almost rock solid. Would love to see local cuisine better represented too, was disappointed how little plantain they had. Restaurants: I only had the chance to eat at Sakura the in resort "Japanese" teppanyaki restaurant and it was not good. A chef dumps piles of diced meat onto a hot plate, drowned in soy sauce. Everything was overcooked, too salty or too bland. Not really any theatrics but I was relieved there wasn't any racist tropes during their cooking/performance. There is also a Mexican restaurant that you need to book at 9-12 in the morning or they are quickly booked out. Staff: Most were super friendly and helpful. I've dealt with and seen much worse but they should probably advise staff not to call Asian guests "Jackie Chan" repeatedly. Bars: Beach bar, snack bar (by the pool) and the lobby bar are the only places to get a drink outside of meal times. I wish they had a more cozy indoor bar where it's easier to talk to other guests as the night club open 11-2am can be very empty for weekdays. Crowd: A lot of older couples and families with a few young people sprinkled in.

Enjoyed the heat, relaxing on the beach and having some drinks.

The resort was very nice, very friendly staff, the rooms were nice, the cleaning staff were quick to make sure your room was clean, the concierge Diwall was amazing, friendly and helpful. The buffet has a lot of variety, the restaurants were very good, I just wished they had a bigger menu. The resort is very large, the pathways weren’t the greatest to get to specific areas because of buildings and the pool and the archways were all spread far apart. Wish the resort was closer to the city.

    Fantastic resort!

I can’t say enough good about this resort. The food was amazing, the pools are beautiful, the staff are friendly and helpful. We love the environmentally friendly touches. There is no disposable plastic, so everything is served in glasses. It just get a bit more responsible than the consumerism we see at a lot of resorts. We loved our stay here!

    Great customer service.

We would like to thank the entire Iberostar Costa Dorada staff for a wonderful vacation. Yanira at the reception desk was very helpful prior to and during our stay. Elizabeth and the Star Prestige employees in the lounge and the beach provided us with an exceptional experience. Faby and the SPA ladies provide a great massage and friendly atmosphere to just relax. Last but not least, Jose from hotel security always ensured everyone in the hotel was safe during their stay. Iberostar is still our number one vacation destination. Thanks again, Cricket and Mike

Solid Experience at Costa Dorada 4/5 April 2023

Stayed here in April 2023, 1 week, booked the Jr. Suite Oceanfront room & stayed in Building 5 as expected. I do a fair bit of research before ever booking a resort, & I found everything was as advertised. I expected a 3.5 star experience, & was pleasantly surprised to find it was actually better than that. This is our 10+ all-inclusive so we have a feeling for what works & what need work. Check in was smooth, we had 2 rooms booked & asked ahead of time if we could get early check-in in at least one as we had an early flight out of Canada & we did receive a room as soon as we arrived (maybe noon?) . I will say we had a small bus from the Airport & it was pretty tight, but manageable. (See pics) Room was clean & the AC did the job, no issues with hot water or water pressure. Bed, pillows & sheets were some of the most comfortable I've slept in, got a solid 8 hours each night. Great sized deck in the exact room we wanted, 4/5 for the room. Grounds were as expected, well maintained & covered hallways so you could avoid any rain you might run into, really well thought out design. 4.5/5 Food was as expected, always ate @ the buffet & despite it being a bit repetitive we did have a Mexican night & it was really good, not sure if it's advertised or planned but it was a great meal. Lots of bacon in the AM, I found the pasta station was very basic & not up to par against other resorts we've been to, I didn't even give it a try. We ate @ the beach buffet for lunch, again repetitive but better than walking to the main lobby/changing ect. It took a night or 2 to find Santo in the main lobby & once we did we had our guy & he looked after us at each meal. You always have to keep looking until you find your guy/gal as all seasoned travelers know! Food/Experience 4/5 Pool, crowded, lots of kids, loud, not really my scene but it was a pool. 3/5 Ocean, the beach was cleaned daily of seaweed, sargasso, sargassum, what ever you like to call it. It's not Cancun, but it's a fine beach if the conditions are right. Beach vendors as expected, no bar service as expected, a bit windy as expected, we went into this trip knowing all that & had some great beach days. 3/5 Did the trip to Mount Isabel de Torres, the cable car on the mountain, highly recommend. There's a lot more than just going up & coming back down, we did some long hikes up there & so glad we were in sneakers & not flip flops, some steep & slippery sections. Just asked the front desk & they hooked us up with a guy, it was $45.00 USD there & back & he gave us a mini tour around the city as well, we gave him $60.00 as we were beat & just wanted to go back & jump in the ocean! I'd do that trip again, as the view is constantly changing & some great time lapse & pics/video up there. All in all we had a great trip, might return there some day but there are still lots of things we want to check off our bucket list 1st.
