Puerto Plata vacation
We travelled to the resort from Nov 10 - 20, staying in 2 rooms. Our request was for a room on the top floor with 2 beds however we were assigned a room with a king bed. Not appropriate for 2 female friends however the couple we were with had requested a room, top floor, king bed so we switched rooms. The front desk only made a note on file which created difficulties trying to book the restaurants as we had to use each others room numbers. This also created issues when the keys to each room stopped working. The room we were given was on the top floor however it was right beside the theater, disco and the casino on the Be Live Property next door. Needless to say, it was extremely noisy every night making it difficult to sleep. The room itself was comfortable, had a fridge, hair dryer in the bathroom and chairs on the veranda. The sliding door had no functioning lock and the lighting on the veranda was either on a timer or light sensor but really wasn't bright enough to read by. For any individual who is vertically challenged aka short, there is no foot rest on the veranda to rest your feet making it uncomfortable to enjoy it. Food was varied, the best a la carte restaurant was the Japanese restaurant and themed dinners in the buffet. On this note, the resort provides lower cost to resident Dominicans from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. The pool area gets swarmed on these days as do the buffet and restaurants. It is better for tourists to book the a la carte restaurants for Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the food in the buffet and beach buffet gets cleaned out quickly on those days. You will not see any bacon on the Buffet on the weekends, it does appear on Monday until Thursday. During our time, paella was prepared on the beach twice as well as a BBQ. Drinks were plentiful, light on the booze. If you don't want to continually go to the bar, bring some form of water bottle to get a couple of drinks but make sure to ask for double shots as you will get more mix than alcohol. WIFI does work on the beach however in the evenings, the signal strength is really unreliable as more people are on the WIFI. Just a further tip, when you prepare your entry and exit visas, do so at home and PRINT them. Also there is a major glitch in the link to file the information for the visa. If you take advantage of preparing your exit information, it will NOT put in the correct return date. It is better to prepare a separate exit visa which does provide the correct return date information as you input the return date. This created a real hassle at the airport as people didn't really look at the information on the documents. Also, when at the beach, pay attention to the colour of the flags. The lifeguard was getting supremely frustrated with people disregarding the RED FLAG which means stay out of the water as it IS NOT safe. We had 3 days of red flag and so many people disregarded the flags putting themselves and the lifeguards in possible danger due to the pounding waves which were incredibly strong. Also there are huge areas of coral near the shore which is very sharp and dangerous.

A great two weeks!
Just back from two weeks at this resort. It checked a lot fo the boxes for us and we would change very little. Positives -Although the resort is older it is very clean and everything is painted fresh -There is plenty of shade on the beach and at the pool -No towels cards and plenty of towels! -No shortage of beach chairs -Very very few vendors on the beach -Room was updated and very clean -There is no single use plastics at this resort. Yes it means you carry around a glass bottle that is a bit heavy but that is a small price to pay for our environment and you can use your thermos or a reusable plastic bottle if you bring one with you (then take home or to airport to recycle). -Beach area is very clean, no garbage and very little seaweed -Staff are extremely caring and want to go the extra mile to ensure you have a positive experience. There were many but the ones we interacted with the most and stood out to us were as follows: Special shout out to: Stephanie for going above and beyond to provide information or point us in the right direction for services. She is professional and helpful always! -Pina Colado has an infectious smile and energy that shows how much she loves her job -Generosa was our main buffet waiter and provided fabulous service and was very kind -Denis at the snack bar bar made delicious drinks and did not let people cut in line in front of you -Tony was always overseeing the buffets and making sure people were looked after and that the process was organized. A la carte restaurants -Japanese a la carte had excellent food and entertainment from our chef -Italian a la carte was also excellent Areas for improvement: -Mexican a la carte was disappointing. The food was all very much the same in that four of us ordered different dishes but the food consisted of the same items but were arranged differently on the plate. To us the food was not close to Mexican cuisine at all, very bland and plain. -Main buffet could use more variety of protein i.e cook the chicken or beef in more ways than one. Other than that it was fantastic. -After the weekend rush, the pool needed extra shocking as the water was murky for a day. It was fine otherwise. Having said all this, we were very happy with this resort and would consider returning.

A pleasant surprise and a fun trip to Iberostar Costa Dorada… exceeded expectations!
Went without much expectations to Begin with but was very pleasantly surprised with the overall experience! Rooms - had a family suite which really means 2 attached rooms. The rooms were spacious and clean. The cleaning staff did a great job everyday! Food - though there were limited choices for dinner( Japanese, Mexican & Italian) the fare was good. The buffet area and the snack bars are good as well Activities - a lot of activities throughout the day and quite a few are really good… the staff are really good and make you feel at home and special…special call out to Pina Colada and Batman for being so energetic and making the events so fun! Bar and Drinks - The usual fare as with most all-inclusive…. Special call out to Josue at the pool bar and Denis at the coffee bar for brewing up great drinks! Overall - Small and quaint place… makes you feel at home… great walks on the beach in the morning and evening… would do it all over again!

Wonderful family vacation
Marion was a great help in all of our needs at the resort. We had a great experience with all the staff here! Josue at the agua bar made the best pina coladas and always knew when to refill our glasses.
