Honus Kai KONEA 1029 - THUMBS DOWN - NOT WORTH IT
UNIT 1029 is a total joke. Broken cabinets all over, the TVs in each bedroom are ancient and don't have any connectivity to Netflix, Amazon, etc..... only basic cable. Very very basic utensils in the kitchen, the bathrooms are really dirty and dingy. Didnt have anything telling us the WIFI password in the room when we checked in. Property was managed by KBM. Would not recommend for the price.
service isn’t a priority
No housekeeping all week. Have to get your own towels from the concierge who is never at their station. Valet guys do everything. And when we asked if we could do a late checkout they told us no because they were having the flooring replaced with contractors showing up at 11am same as checkout. Our flight wasn’t until 9pm so we rented a cabana and hung out on property for the day. No contractor or anyone ever went to the room before we left the hotel at 5pm. While a beautiful hotel, I wouldn’t go back because the service obviously isn’t a priority.
Beautiful Property but disappointing for such a nice Resort
The property is beautiful, but falls short on services and amenities you would expect for such an upscale resort. Problems included: (1) air conditioning controls that require the skills of an Electrical Engineer to operate, (2) a fine stove but its computerized electronic controls beeped off and on at unexpected times at night and occasionally turned on the oven light creating real obstacles to sound sleep; (3) the resort does not supply beach chairs or umbrellas for its guests; (4) Duke's restaurant is nice, but fills up with reservations and is not always available for casual drop-ins -- the resort could use more food service opportunities; (5) the room safe is attached to the floor in a closet, making it uncomfortable to use, especially for older guests, and,(5) they don't provide maid services for the rooms which may account for the surplus of bugs and roaches in the rooms.
Save Your Money........Book Somewhere Else
We just got home yesterday after spending the first week of January 2023 at this resort. We were not pleased with our stay. On the first day we were to check in at 4pm.......at that time our room was not ready and did not get into our room until 6pm........total incompetence. We stayed in the Tower and it is old and lots of things were broken; i.e...bedroom TV, living room fan, coffee pot, main toilet base was broken, air conditioner could not be set to cool our room........NONE OF THE POOLS ARE HEATED. THERE IS NO ROOM CLEANING SERVICE........NONE. YOU HAVE TO EMPTY YOUR OWN TRASH. If you are staying in the Tower there is no front desk. The valet parking clerks are expected to handle your problems and they did not do that at all. The rooms are dated and the carpets should have been replaced years ago. The concierge handles the towels, but no one informed us about this and we just stumbled upon it. After spending over 20K for two rooms for 7 nights we felt like we were scammed. We will never return to this over priced resort and will find a better place.
Christmas surprise to remember 2022
It was our first time on the Maui Island. This was a perfect location for all that we needed for our 5 night stay , family of four . I will for sure make it 7-10 next trip . We loved Maui and all it offered us as a family . Beautiful beach , Great pools at Honua Kai. I loved having Dukes and the little market . I went to the market everday for a Latte. We had a great location. Great location for our room on the 3rd floor and pretty close to elevators but not too close . Okay , only thing I can complain about is the control over the AC. It was set on a certain temp and you could not go lower than the temp . If a window or door open it would shut off. We are from California and I like our home or hotel room cold while I sleep . Loved having a kitchen and the lanai . The washer & dryer was a huge plus ! We enjoyed the food trucks twice and Found what we needed a the Times Market and ABC. We will be returning back to Maui and I would stay here again . Mahalo
