Good hotel - bad location
Overall, this hotel was exactly what I would have expected from a Homewood suites. The room had a nice kitchenette with a full size refrigerator, microwave, cook top and dishwasher. The direct TV in the room was spotty at best, with some channels being completely unwatchable. The complimentary breakfast was also pretty good. Our biggest concern was the location of the hotel being about 2 blocks from a large homeless camp. We did not feel safe walking in that direction, or walking outside at night. Also, there was really nothing close by in terms of stores, coffee shops, etc. The only good thing about the location is that it is close to downtown. Nearly everywhere we went was less than a $9 uber ride. We actually found this to be about the same in total as renting a car, since the hotel charges $10 per day for parking. This wouldn't be our first choice if we come back to SLC, but we would stay here again if needed.

Terrible location, it felt dangerous
The doors stayed locked at all times because of the crime. We could not even get the attention of the front desk to let us in to check in. The room was ok but again, did not feel secure. Try not to stay here.

Not impressed
Very disappointed in the overall quality of stay at this hotel... I found it below standard for a Homewood Suites.. Breakfast was sub par and unappetizing.. For the price paid per night I expect a higher standard and choice of food offered… There is a homeless tented community on the sidewalk less than a block away.. Making the option of walking around the area unattractive and in doubt of your safety.

Not any issues
I was here for business. I use the Hilton honors app for everything. I messaged because I got into town a bit earlier then expected. And Vanessa was able to get me into my room early. Room was spacious and clean. Parking was 10 dollars a day that was no issue for me to have secured parking. I did not try the breakfast so cannot comment on that. Vanessa reached out to see how everything was which I really appreciated.

Teriible. Homeless People!
The moment we pulled up the front of the hotel and got out of the car, there were homeless people yelling at each other. There is a Homeless outreach center or some kind of Homeless shelter right across the street for your viewing enjoyment. Our view also gave us a front-row seat to all the homeless people. We checked out within the hour once we found another hotel. Plus, NOTHING is within walking distance. The "action" of downtown is far away. I wish I knew this in advance. For the first time in Utah with my family on vacation, this is not where you want to stay.
