Nice hotel great location
This hotel provides a shuttle from the airport as well as to the cruise port. The awesome benefit is they will provide a shuttle to and from old town. The front desk staff is very friendly and provides recommendations for restaurants, attractions, just about anything we asked about. Very knowledgeable. The location is perfect if you’re taking a cruise out of San Diego. We would like to commend the staff and highly recommend this hotel. The room is not extremely large but big enough for two people! Very clean.
The hotel is right next to the highway and a train, so we didn’t get a lot of sleep. There was also a rude patron running his mouth all night in the hallway, seemed like he was on drugs. Stayed there for less than 12 hours and it cost over $250. When I spoke with the staff about the issues upon check out, they just said sorry…. No discount, refund, or anything. What a rip off!!
Adhraa is the joy of this Hotel
This hotel is good because of Adhraa, she is smart, helpful, and pleasant to guest. I feel I have to say that Kaylee was not so and didn't mind yelling at customers. Two distinctly different styles, and fortunately for me, Adhraa took good care of us. Our room was clean and the breakfast was very good. The location was perfect for a walk to old Town.
Comfortable hotel in convenient location
We stayed here overnight because of the proximity to the airport and the car rental center. The hotel shuttle was available to take us to/from any location so we used this to connect with the Airport, Old Town and the Car Rental Center. Some patience was required if the service was busy. The hotel rooms have been updated and were very clean and comfortable. The soundproofing was amazing so we enjoyed a very quiet stay undisturbed by the adjacent highway. The breakfast buffet was adequate. Above all, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful in resolving any issues.
The staff at this hotel were great. Personable, polite and everyone we encountered spoke and said hello. The rooms were ok...standard for HI Express. I did like the secure parking under the property and the location was perfect. Minutes away from almost everything we wanted to see and do in San Diego. Also, due to our flight schedule, we arrived about an hour before the listed check in time and were able to get in our room a little early. The only disappointment we had with our stay, was the continental breakfast. Only one staff member to work the breakfast area and while she was doing everything she could, she could not keep up with the demand on any of the three days we were there. The property appeared to be at or near capacity our entire visit. Additionally, out of the four hot food chafing dishes, only two were used each day and there was never any variety in the protein provided each day (example: sausage today, bacon the next). We were even told that the cinnamon rolls were not put out until 8 AM when breakfast was advertised as 6 - 10 AM. We have never experienced this at any of the other HI Express properties we have visited. It's almost as if the hotel was caught off guard as to the number of guest that would be on property during the week of our stay, but that would not be a valid reasoning given the reservation system that is in place. Overall, I can only score this stay as an average stay and average HI Express experience with a note that the location and staff were definite notes in the 'plus' column.
