Great stay near Emeryville Station for Amtrak the next morning
Amazing hotel. So comfortable, quiet, and spacious. We had beautiful views of San Francisco and Bay Bridge from our window 😍 Room was exceptionally clean and beds very comfortable. Kids slept on sofa bed and us in the large King size bed. Coffee machine rocked 🙌

Refreshed in name only but adequate
We spent four nights here between two conferences (we had stayed here last summer as well); we were both working. The hotel is pretty standard, clean, and fairly modern, but it definitely suffers from its age and style--no matter how you cover it, a valence is still a valence. While it was "refreshed" in 2021, it seems to have consisted of new furniture and carpet, but the overall layout remains the same. Good: Standard wifi was solid and fast, just fine for video calls. The lamps are a perky yellow. Meh: Mattress was *very* firm, sheets felt like cotton/poly rather than cotton. Shower is nicely tiled and had both a fixed head and a hand held option--but the handheld's only holder was next to the fixed head. Parking was $23/night, which is marginally better than surrounding hotels. Problems: - the heating unit is an old box that sits near the window that you would expect in a motel. At least they added a thermostat on the wall, but the controls are very basic. - the bathroom door interferes with the swing of the room door: you can't have both open at the same time. - the bathroom has no fan. The entire room steamed up every time we took a shower, and the windows had condensation just from us breathing. The window was designed to open, but was welded shut (according to staff, this was part of the refresh), and the engineer said the "vent" in the bathroom has no fan--it's just a pipe. The only way to clear the window was to run the air conditioner at 67 degrees and a high fan--and ask for extra blankets. Staff tried to be helpful, but one engineer thought heat would reduce humidity; at least the other understood that AC works by removing moisture. Room selection: the view on the bay side is great, especially from higher floors; the "mountain view" is really a freeway view, and quite noisy because of it.

Terrible staff. Avoid.
Terrible staff. Supposedly this was a manager. Stayed many times at this location before different management although the hotel seems like they have updated it the Management made the stay very bad. Avoid!!

Very good experience
I know the Hilton Garden Inn brand well and have used their properties in many places across the world and never had a bad experience. This property delives the reliable comfort you'd expect. Emeryville is actually a good spot for exploring San Francisco with lower rates, so this property is worth considering if you want a bargain but don't mind commuting into SF. The property is located close to the Emeryville Marina, but is walking distance to the main shopping areas and you can pick up the free bus shuttle (independent of the hotel) to get to BART to commute into the city. It's also relatively close to the Amtrak station to connect to other parts of the state and indeed the US. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The property is modern and well designed. Rooms are spacious, clean, light, with pristine linens and good work space. The TV is a bit too big for the room, but if you like widescreen movies, it's perfect! There is tea, coffee, a microwave, fridge, reliable WIFI, good heating/cooling and lots of power sockets. Housekeeping is on request only, so don't forget to let the staff know if you expect it. The bathroom has a walk in shower (no tub) with excellent hot water pressure from two heads and you get good amenities. Towels are clean and fresh. Breakfast was included in my rate and there is a lot on offer. It's well worth getting as part of your booking as the price is high otherwise. Lot's of options and good quality food, hot and cold. All in all, for what I paid to be close to SF is well worth it. There are a number of properties close by that charge a LOT more, but they are no better and offer little more than the Hilton, so it's a great find.

Another excellent stay at HGI
Another great stay on the 10th floor of the HGI. Comfortable rooms and beds, with a nice lobby and central to many businesses and locations. Quick in and out of Berkeley, Oakland and San Francisco.
