Very disappointed
My wife and I have been to this resort six times over the years. There are many features we love about it, so it was one of our favorites. That’s why I’m sorry to say that this may be our last trip to it, unless some changes are made, because it has degraded consistently and significantly from visit to visit. During this past visit I would give the resort three stars out of five, at best. But let me start with the Good: We are Hall of Fame Legendary members so, as such, have the services of a butler. It’s something I didn’t think I needed until I had it. This trip our butlers were Erika and Mauricio, and they were both phenomenal. I can’t thank them enough for all their help and attention. We also had the pleasure of meeting Elias, who is the head butler at the resort. He was also incredibly helpful and attentive. So, I will emphasize that my negative comments are NOT a reflection on them. I will say that the entire resort staff is excellent, but some always go above and beyond. This includes the staff at Faro, especially Maria the manager, hostesses Paola and Cinthia, and our waiters Paola and Francisco. We loved Frida, the Mexican restaurant in the family section. The food was great, as was the service. Thank you, Viridiana, Willy, and Flor. I also want to recognize Cesar, our waiter at the members-only beach. The Bad: The resort went from three adults-only restaurants to two, and one, Wai, was closed all week. That left one adults-only restaurant, alternating menus, one day Umo and one day Wai. It was so crowded, and apparently understaffed, that it took 40 minutes once we were seated before anyone came over to offer us drinks, including water. I got up and went to the bar, but that was not much better. There was one bartender making all the drinks for the restaurant and the people sitting at the bar. It took me over ten minutes to get a drink. One night we ate at Le Petite Cochon, which some time back was also adult-only, but no longer. It was crowded and very noisy. Even though we had reservations we had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. Then once inside it took at least 10 minutes for our waiter to come over to take our drink and food order. Our drinks came fairly quickly, but 35 minutes went by before we even got bread at the table. When I said the place is degrading, I was not exaggerating. The members-only beach has at least two less umbrellas than the last time we went. It was not enough then, let alone now. Two of the ones left were broken where the fabric attaches to the frame, so the fabric would lift and not provide much cover. For what it costs to stay here, you’d think they could afford a few new beach umbrellas. While they’re at it, I would also recommend they invest on a few more small plastic tables. Two for the entire beach is clearly not enough.

Great Family Friendly Resort
Overall we had a blast. We were a group of 30 people (including kids). The Great Astrid at the Market was amazing. She was so great with my kids, they both loved her. Her energy was so pleasant and welcoming. She was off for 2 days and let us know ahead of time which was so sweet of her. We ate at the market for every single breakfast because of her. Her partner Erika was amazing as well. David at the pool bar was so fast and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s like he knew what we wanted before we even ordered. He was funny and very kind. The beach was great for kids. The ocean water was so warm and calm since they had it blocked off to make a lagoon The taco stand by the red lobby was amazing. Literally the best food anywhere. I wish all the restaurants had this quality of food The not so great We had asked to be placed close together which most of us were except my parents who were on the other side of the resort. I understand that these requests are not guaranteed. We had sent emails multiple times and specifically asked to be next to my parents so they could help us with our 1 year old. This was frustrating, by the end of day 2 it was rectified. In order to eat at the restaurants you had to be there by 4:45 pm or you would be waiting hours. We tried to eat at toro one night. It took 2.5 hours to be seated. They didn’t take reservations anywhere which was frustrating. Overall we had a blast.

Leon in Concierge was great!
Wanted to give a shout out to Leon with Concierge. He went above and beyond for us. He even raced out of the lobby to say goodbye as we were getting into our transportation to head back to the airport. Appreciate hard working folks in hospitality, which is not an easy field. Kudos to Leon!

Trip of a Lifetime!
The entertainment crew at the blue pool at Hard Rock Riviera Maya is absolutely incredible! Otto, Jazzi, Baby Shark, Danny Boy, Eddie, Hector, Brau, and Vali went above and beyond to make our vacation unforgettable. Otto stood out as the absolute best—his warm and welcoming personality made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. He ensured that every activity was full of energy and excitement, and we truly felt like part of the Hard Rock family because of him. Jazzi was also amazing and helped lead Team Iowa to victory in the Pool Olympics, which was an absolute blast! The crew brought such enthusiasm and creativity to every game and activity, making everything super fun and interactive. They even surprised us with a special gift on our last day, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. This team knows how to make guests feel special and keeps the vibes high all day long. From laughter-filled games to memorable poolside moments, they truly made this the best vacation ever. Huge thanks to Otto and the whole crew for their incredible energy and dedication—we can’t wait to come back!

Amazing bartender Miguel
The highlight of our trip was the bartender we met at the Heaven bar Miguel. He showed us some amazing drinks and had amazing energy with us. Every night we made sure to go to the bar so we could get some drinks from our boy Miguel who always made our nights great.
