    Disappointing stay

We have stayed at the White Sands several times in the past and this resort has gone downhill. Beach is gone, no snorkelling anymore, no swimming in ocean, Beach bar closed, no access to Pool de Rocas anymore etc. Rooms are dated and furnishings are rundown. I could go on, but you get the idea. If you are thinking of staying at Grand Palladium you are better off at Colonial or Kantenah.

    Great holiday

Overall a great holiday and experience at this hotel . Lots of space in and around the pool areas, great availability when booking the restaurants. Great experience of most of the restaurants with quality food, drink and service. Helpful staff everywhere around the hotel. Maintenance of the whole resort was great , the grounds are beautiful. We did upgrade for a larger room and access to TRS facilities which made our holiday even better. We are returning with our friends next year . Can’t wait

    Kind of wonky

This was our first time at this resort and will be our last. Unfortunately. Upon arrival, the hotel looks amazing! Very beautiful lobby and friendly staff. As we checked in we were told we'd have to wear some kind of tracking device bracelet during our stay (LOL) what....? There was some kind or surprise charge when we got there and of course it was hidden in the fine print of the fine print....The map is extensive as is the resort. Turns out its 3 hotels in one location. We were there for 7 days. As we arrived to our room, which was pretty central - I think - to everything I was somewhat disappointed. It seemed like it needed some new paint and some other touches. The tub is exposed - meaning there is no wall or any kind of privacy. We didn't end up using the tub as our daughter was with us and the no privacy thing was weird for all of us. The sink has no privacy either....so when you use the bathroom, you wash your hands and booger check with everyone in the room watching. The shower had its own door but again, once out of the shower everyone is there to greet you as you do your after shower protocol...zero privacy..... The toilet seat was wonky, it was a cheap, thin plastic one that was literally tilted. Very strange and somewhat stressful when you had to sit on it, which made it bizarre when 'reading a magazine'...the shower head was ok - there were two options and one was adjustable to height but kept sliding down and away from you. The shower head on the tub broke off when I tossed my towel into the tub!! We called to let them know and when the repair man showed up he told my husband it happens all the time!! lol what...? My husband asked him to fix the toilet seat which he did but it quickly wonked out again!! Now as petty as these things may sound - the issue is many people, like my husband, work very hard to gift us with wonderful vacations to what are supposed to be 'higher end' resorts so for these things to be the case is questionable to say the least. I also think people's standards have lowered considerably on many levels so folks are fine with mediocrity. The food was good. Breakfast my favorite. They had good coffee and the service was always great!! All employees were friendly and attentive. We tipped them often for their wonderful service. The hotel is large and somewhat confusing to get used to the layout. There are three hotels in one and sorting out what's what took a few days. Even with maps and arrows all over the place, I found many were lost as well as myself. Around day 3 -4 you'll get the hang of it. There are lots of golf cart drivers that will either take you around or tell you where to go if you are lost. All of them were kind and happy to help. The lobby is really beautiful and their bar is convenient, offering coffees water and all the things.... The lobby is just off of the lagoon and what seems to be sewer or some kind of cess pond. Many of the days the water closest to the lobby not only smelled disgusting, but looked even worse. Which lined the pathway to the restaurants. I gagged once, it was so smelly. Lost my appetite....Not clear what was going on there. The entertainment is good. The white party on the beach was fun. There was something to do every night, but the DJ was playing the same set lol...the pool was very large but we opted to stay on the quiet end of the beach. The restaurant on the beach was NOT good AT ALL. Do not eat there. Keep an eye on the times for the buffet restaurants as they close sooner than you think. Make reservations for dinner for the whole stay the day you arrive - they book up quickly - at least they did when we were there. All in all it was just OK. We'll be trying another resort on our next trip to Mexico....
