Nice beach, great food, dirty room

Beautiful site, gardens are amazing. The food and the beach are very nice. We had an issue with our room at the bavaro complex it wasn't very clean and the bathroom could be renovated. Tiles were cracked. Overall we enjoyed our stay but probably won't go back at this hotel.

    Average Experience

Our first room wasn’t great so we paid the upgrade fee to move to a nicer room close to the beach. Just upgrade right away, but do the math. We got 40% off our upgrade onsite. The pillows are abysmal and flat, ask for more if you can get them or bring one from home if you can. Cleaning crews were very kind and thorough, staff was friendly. You have to ignore the sales guys trying to get you to buy into the time share (Travel Club) because they want to waste your time and guilt trip you. There are NO no motorized water sports as advertised. But the sports facilities were pretty good, mini golf was a fun surprise for the kids. It’s a huge place, we like walking a lot so it wasn’t a bother but if you don’t like walking this isn’t the place for you. Best dinner restaurants are the Indian, Mexican, Italian, and Tepanyaki places. Make reservations during checkin, do not wait and use the resort app like they advise. One of my favorite treats was from the La Uva snack bar on the beach, you can fill a cup with vanilla soft serve and use the automatic espresso to make an affogato, yum. Also, there is a coffee shop hidden in one of the lobbies, it wasn’t often busy but great place for a treat. If you want to just relax and aren’t into doing a lot of activities, this place will achieve. Oh, and don’t be fooled as we were by the $1500 resort credit - it’s a lie. They give you a coupon book with a ton of restrictions. We picked this place partially because of that marketing scheme and used literally zero of the coupons among the 3 rooms and 8 people in our party. Zero. It’s close to being a scam, but they do say there are restrictions that will be clarified upon checkin, we just thought there would be something useful with the credits and there wasn’t at all. Big disappointment.

Great for families who want both rest and activity.

This was an enormous hotel complex with multiple pools, a great beach and a wide range of restaurants. This kept the all inclusive trip from turning monotonous. The Indian restaurant Bhogali was surprisingly authentic really great! So was the Italian - Portofino. Has some very good sports facilities. We enjoyed mini golf and tennis. Would have been even better if the staff urged more guests - especially teens - to join activities. Most of the time there weren’t enough people to play the programmed games

    Wonderful getaway

We just visited this resort for the fifth time and it was even better than past visits. We stayed in the Ambassador suite in building 19. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the sun and has a wonderful view of the ocean. Our butler, Maritza, did an amazing job. She truly went above and beyond in helping us out with everything. We highly recommend Edwin at the tennis center. We took several lessons and he made sure we got a great workout. Chic Cabaret was outstanding.
