    Never again!

Big disappointment. Beach is rocky (expected) but access and lounging area is closed as is entire beach area. No pier for dive pickup, stairs to water in disrepair, no chairs, cushions- nothing. Single pool was crowded and full of kids. Food was mediocre at best. Concierge was mainly interested in selling their vacation club. Tour desk was unenthusiastic. Service was good- rooms were great.

DON’T RUIN YOUR VACATIONS!!!! Cancel / Run while you can!!

LEAVE/CANCEL while you can. Don’t give second, third, forth, fifth, (so on till 8th day) chances like we did. it won’t get any better. no matter how positive or kind person you are at some point it will break you. don’t ruin your vacations nor waist your time. checkout the very first day! get any other hotel and enjoy Cozumel. DO READ the poor/terrible reviews they will be the most accurate. CHECK OUT AND ASK FOR YOUR MONEY BACK, they will try to get you another room, kind of an upgrade, they will try to compensate you with a tour to El Cielo, don’t not fall for that, not worth your time. its better to take a private tour you’ll get more time at the place an ddo more snorkeling. trust me just be smart and leave. and DO ask for your money back. Do upload your review at tripadvisor everywhere you can. take pictures of everything and do keep your phone with you at all times! its completely unfair that they are ripping out people! Yes STAFF is great, and yes they treat you GREAT, as any other cozumel people, the people at Cozumel are the very best service at riviera maya area (cancun, tulum, holbox, playacrmen, cozumel SERVICE take the prize) but still, service do not compensate nor have to for the terrible conditions at the hotel. is not their fault, and they do make it bearable. I really hope they are paying them above any other resort, if it weren’t for them it could be for sure the worst hotel at the Riviera Maya. Do tip them if you can, you’ll notice who outstands really quick. it is a sad RIPP OFF. they still advertising the BEACH ocean/reef area which has been closed for years! they will do nothing, its been years! they will tell you three different versions blaming anyone else but i still think responsible person is the administration of the facility or the very fiestaamericana ceo. Do bring your snorkel eq, consider they have only one funcional stairs to go down but snorkel if you can, it will make you forget while it last the other situation. if you still want to enjoy the ocean, they do have chairs, but you have to grab them and move them where you can, there’s no service at that place so expect nothing, the pool is not in a condition to get in but you can still dive in. still, … if you want to have an OCEAN VIEW you can grab a chair and try your best to enjoy it out there. or ask for room at the 6th floor. (they say you can see it from 4th floor. better check out the room first) they did gave us an unsolicited upgrade” with no ocean view at the 4th floor, just one bed and not in great conditions, we asked for the room we booked: double bed WITH OCEAN VIEW, IT TOOK 3 NIGTHS / 4 days before they gave us the room we booked, with ocean view, looking back it was a waisted time. but we did gave other chance and opportunity. if you still don’t mind that and they do warn you that the beach area is closed, ask for the pool and if they say its fine. IT IS NOT! POOL: it was the WORST PART OF OUR STAY, since we had no beach area , no ocean view, no relaxing place to be, the only thing we thought we could enjoy was the only one and only open pool which is not that big, and it was full, hard to find where to sit, and that is LITERALLY FALLING APART PIECE BY PIECE, falling apart piece by piece -literally-, BEWARE you will get CUT! we did bought pool footwear the very second day. but that maybe can protect your feet but nor your hands, legs, knees/ etc. besides the pool is very very dirty you’ll see green algae at most if not all around it. we did our very best effort to keep a smile for our kid. and try to keep her safe, but every single day we saw minimum one person BLEEDING. you have to be super extra careful, move slowly and look everywhere so you won’t cut yourself or stand or be near at moldy space, it was not impossible but if you re not as patient as i am better not even dive in. YES, water was also DIRTY, the days that we noticed bad smell we didn’t get in. THE LIFEGUARD/POOL STAFF OUTSTANDING!!!! the guy really makes everything better! he did knew how to read the room, he did his best keeping everyone at the pool happy, cant remember his name but he had a great voice and did had creativity to manage to do pool games, he seemed overworked he stayed almost more than 8hr a row! one of the outstanding people you can always notice. he managed to make everyone comfortable at the pool every single time. as for WAITERS: at pool Edwin, two other guys too. as i said staff is just GREAT! - saddly don’t know what happened but i experienced and heard when another waiter was awfully scolded and humiliated by who i suppose is the manager - nor the place nor the time nor the form- . SAFETY: be aware the very first day at the pool we left behind the life jacket of our kid, the second day it was missing, we did ask and no one saw anything, the next day the same, we asked again and nothing, the third day it suddenly appeared after i wrote a tripadvisor review. they did gave it back and i really don’t want to know where it had been because it could had been tooked by another guest or who knows, and i truly don’t care wew were just glad it was back, because we did went to the stores near to find something similar, -we did bougth plastic ones and a toy at their store- so it was another wasted day, i don’t know if it was a coincidence or not, that the review, or that my mom is a FAVC member, and obvs part of their job is to sell so we had the “talk” programmed later those days, anyways lesson learned i did not took eyes from our stuff since that day. FOOD: my kid did got sick, we also got stomach bugs, we bought meds next morning (another day wasted) i think it was a the italian restaurant (you do have to make an appointment), since i did preferred to skip meals, and eat out, very good places outside. the food. mmm.. BUFFET: med quality, the variety buffet seemed that it was the leftovers form days before. i only had breakfast -toasted bread, and when the fruit was fresh fruit. if it smelled or tasted funny i preferred not to eat, so i never ate a complete meal. we did went to bought fruit at supermarket. (another day wasted), toasted bread, caramel and pineapple when available did saved my mornings. COFFE/DESSERT: nothing memorable, for my taste, but they looked fresh. icecream/gelato were good. the personal at the place RESTAURANTS by RESERVATION: el mexicano! compared to everything else it was GREAT! i was really happy AND DID ENJOYED to finally eat fresh food, guacamole, costillar, sopa azteca and tacos dorados cheese. HOUSEKEEPING/ROOMS: our room was clean, we did had an non functional minisplit at the first room, they quickly arrange it. towels at the pool smelled great, freshly clean. it was only bearable because we went out every single day, stayed outside as much as posible. cozumel is beautiful, island is great, people is kind, we rented a car and went to other beaches, dinner outside, out as much as posible. will visit cozumel again soon definitely not that resort. if we only had checked out the first day!!! don’t be like us, dont try to give chances you’ll only lose your valuable time and end up regretting staying for the service, youll get great service everywhere else. MY ADVISE AND TIP from. y experience is: if you had reserved. CANCEL, if you are there. CHECKOUT, MOVE ASK FOR YOUR MONEY BACK and MOVE to ANY OTHER BRAND HOTEL.

Good, but could be way better

This review is the same as many others. We vacationed at FA - Cozumel for the first time and the service was great. Luis and Gabriel were excellent. The food, I can't speak for everyone, loved it. The second and third portions caused me to put on some weight. Overall experience was good, however the hotel itself needs an upgrade. The common areas were nice and clean, but the rooms need a face lift and upgrade in furniture. This sentiment was same from a guest we met on an excursion. The two outside restaurants were closed limiting time on the beach. Well, more of a reef. And the pool was the worst. I can understand a few tiles falling out of place, but there were quite a few tiles missing and the green algae had taken up residence. The grout lines underneath the water fall were all green. Furthermore on the rim of the pool edge it appears the black algae was making an appearance. My wife and I hung out at a particular corner of the pool that appeared to be the cleanest. That is not to say it was algae free. Our recommendation is to try FA Cabo San Lucas (been there twice, gorgeous) or FA Cancun (guests we met rave about the beauty of the hotel).

Property is dated and not all things shown on the website are available

First, I want to say the people and the bar experience was excellent. The room service was great and my interactions with everyone on the property was great. I don't speak Spanish and fumbled through most of it with everyone. They were patient and kind and helpful so that needed to be said first. The issues I had were all property related. So here we go: The Pool - swam in it daily for 7 days, the bar is great, the music, the drinks. My issue was the debris and bugs that needed skimmed on a more regular basis. It is noticeable. The Jacuzzi - There is no jacuzzi for us regular folks, you have to rent a room with one in it, but that's no fun, they need to put one in by the pool The property across the street on the ocean side - CLOSED, I REPEAT, IT IS CLOSED so that pretty drone shot you see on the website, yeah, it's over 2 years old. So if you were hoping to lay by the ocean and get a breeze and hit the bar or a hammock, they said it was closed for over 2 years and they hope to reopen it some day. The nightly activities were fun but for kids and teens, they have an entire court yard that is not used for anything. They could put volleyball nets in, basketball or a play land. There is an arcade with a pool table but it's truly unusable with no ventilation so you are done in 10min from sweating so bad. The pool is dated, needed several tiles replaced IN SUMMARY - The people are great, the bar is great. The food was hit and miss for me but that is just me, there is a huge variety to choose from. But the property and activities could be updated.

    BAIT AND SWITCH...STAY AWAY!

My parents are repeat guests, so we visited as a family on their recommendation...Unfortunately, NOTHING was as expected from their visit two years ago. The worst offender was the beach...or lack thereof. We were uninformed that the services had discontinued, but the hotel is still advertising those amenities. The entire resort is in disrepair, and none of the staff can be bothered to accommodate. We had to ask for water several times to the point that we started serving ourselves. If you don't speak Spanish, don't expect to be served. Management will likely offer a free night to return as compensation, but that's not incentive enough given our experience...THERE WAS A LIVE LARVA IN THE FOOD! If Mr. Cordova would be so kind to offer at least a partial refund, I'll consider revising this review...
