Do Not Stay at the Excalibur hotel

When we arrived, we were told our room wasn't ready but that we could be given a different room. We agreed and were given room 26206. We quickly dropped off our things and went to a show. When we returned later that evening and were getting ready to sleep we discovered that this room was dirty. There was a thick layer of dust over every surface. When I booked this room, it said that we were guaranteed a refrigerator in the room. When we arrived, there was none. The shower, walls, table tops, and chairs all were not clean. The chairs and walls were stained. The faucet, when we turned it on, had black flecks of grit coming out of it. The bathroom fan, when we turned it on, made a loud revving sound, similar to that of a car revving its engine, going quiet then really loud. The towels were stained with dirt and what appeared to be old make up. The shower floor was stained, as was the linoleum on the floor in front of the bathroom. There was peeling wall paper and dirt all along the baseboards. The next morning, I went down stairs to see if we could get a different room. We were moved from room 26206 to room 27220 and were told they would waive the resort fees for our stay. I also mentioned that the prices for our room at the hotel had significantly decreased. From a total of $648.53 ($352.27 + 296.26) to $202 per night and $163 per night and was told there was nothing they could do about it, that I would need to file a complaint online. I also asked about not having a refrigerator and was told none of the rooms had one. So, not only did we sleep in two very dirty rooms, we also paid 2x as much for it. Room 27220 was in a similar state. Most of the walls in the room had stains on them, both chairs were also stained. The wall paper throughout the room, especially under the tv and in the corners were peeling and in the bathroom, the linoleum was ripped. At this point, we needed to head out to make my son's competition, so we didn't have time to address this with the front desk again. We arrived back at the hotel around 9pm and just went to sleep. Upon check out and arriving back at home, i saw that our invoice for our stay included only 1 night of resort fees being waived. I am very disappointed in the room quality and customer service.

    A nice place

We really liked this hotel, the room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfy and the shower was powerful. It was right on the south end of the strip which made everything easy to get to. It's only about 10 minutes from the airport which was very convenient, however it did mean our room had a lot of airport noise, but this stopped at around 11pm so didn't cause much of an issue. The only issue with the room was the lack of a fridge which made keeping drinks cold difficult. The pool area was large but there weren't nearly enough parsols for people and in 35°C heat we needed a parasol. It also had very short opening hours, shutting at 6pm.

    Need Amenities. Resort Fee Ridiculous!!

The room was fine. The bed was comfortable with soft pillows and plenty of bedding. I do wish however that there were small appliances in the room. A mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker would be awesome to have. I am not happy about the resort fee, especially with the lack of above mentioned amenities and an additional charge for parking. I am not sure what I got for the $45 a day since we didn't use the pool or fitness center if there was one.

Nasty, Smoky Place, Rip Off & Check Out Service Liars

Wish there was a negative stars feedback! At check in very nice desk personnel was helpful & gave us a voucher of $50.00 for my roommate’s birthday & as we were here for EDC & our stay was just one night we had dinner @ Ex Buca Di Beppo, food was nice but horrible service. Our check for 2 was $116.00 including a 20% tip & I charged to the room with the card the desk Daniel gave me. The server said to take it up with the desk because he didn’t have anything to do with it. I said okay & we left. At check out they of course had not taken the voucher off so I went physically to get the charges dealt with instead of contactless check out as I wanted. Then a week later I do not get the room deposit of $75.00 back on my credit card so I call. The desk manager was so rude & nasty saying what did I want since I got a “refund” of $50.00 off of my dinner bill (what does the deposit have anything to do with dinner & a voucher they offered me?) & I upgraded the room from the original reservations. “You’ll not get anything else from us!” So I paid for a bigger upgraded room & was offered a birthday “gift voucher” and now I get no room deposit which costs more back? How does that work? Also this is what kind of service you get for an upgrade? Which I paid for not gotten free or anything of a sort. So rude & as of this morning they charged a separate “front desk fee” of $50.00 plus tax for a total of $57.93 which was the difference for the the dinner bill voucher amount in exact amount? In all the birthday voucher cost me more since the deposit was more than the voucher & they needed up charging me the same amount back. Are they hurting that bad at this casino that they have to rip you off by offering a fake voucher & keeping my room deposit? Wow I mean if they are ripping a widow mom of 3 on a one day trip in Vegas for $125.00 at this place they must be hurting. I mean maybe pick up around the pool, there were rusty beer tabs & caps by pool loungers, prices of drinks were even higher than food then maybe you’ll make more money from people coming to the casino. If your hurting this bad your ripping people off $50 to $75 at a time you’ll be closing soon because that’s not how Vegas works. All this to say, y’al the smokiest in Vegas. Clean your filters, pick up your trash & offer some service to your patrons & you’ll fill up. I’ll be contacting my credit card company to explain I’m not paying you a damn thing extra & fighting for every penny myself because MGM don’t own me & I work & do my job for my money earned not rip & lie like you. Also wasn’t even my birthday but my roomies so thanx for nothing.

Great Value for money and good location

We booked this hotel as it was one of the cheaper options available for the dates of our stay. We just booked the cheapest standard room as we didnt plan to be in the room a lot and just wanted somewhere clean to sleep and shower and this was all that. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious. (Be careful when you first step into the shower as ours was quite slippy, but once used this wore off) We booked a rate that gave us a $30/day food and beverage credit which came in handy and can be used at outlets in the other MGM Hotels as long as you charge the bill back to the room. (full list of outlets was available online) We dined in the hotels TAP bar one evening where they had a 3 for $33 deal - starter, main meal and a drink - this along with the room credit was great value for money and the meals were massive portions and nice food. One thing we found odd was that most of the hotels bars closed early. Tap closed at 10pm and some of the bars on the 1st floor also closed around that time. Only one or two of the bars in the casino stayed open later. There was a great little shop near the lifts to our rooms where you could buy drinks to take back to the room. Also a larger shop near the main entrance with snacks and drinks. The pool area was nice. clean with free towels and plenty of sunbeds. One of our group used the massage service just inside the main entrance and thought it was a great service and that the prices were very reasonable. Overall we were very happy with our stay, we got what we paid for and find that its not worth spending a fortune on a hotel room in Vegas as we were out of the hotel from dawn until dark!! Our main recommendation outside of the hotel would be to use the Deuce bus - $8/24 hours and it goes the full length of the strip. We paid cash on the bus for our tickets and used it for 2 days of our stay.
