RCI SCAM
We arrived at the Mare St Claire hotel on 12/25/2022 on to find out that the hotel did not have us confirmed room for us. Spoke with the Supvr who stated she contacted RCI 2 days prior and advised they had no avail rooms for RCI customers. Further, she stated the portal was closed and somehow RCI managed to reopen it and book bogus trips. RCI never let us know our room was canceled. While speaking to the Suprv at RCI and placed on hold we received a email stating they appreciated us letting them know of our cancelation. We never canceled because we were ready check in as scheduled. We were stranded in Puerto Rico with noplace to stay on Christmas day. Ultimately, we had to play full price to stay at the hotel which cost over $300 over the initial price that we payed as RCI members. A couple days later we spoke with Rci who promised to return out trading points, refund the initial cost we paid to them to book trip and they also promised to return the money we paid to stay at the hotel. We were reimbursed the points and initial fee to book but its been 3 weeks and they still have not returned the hotel fees.

A Total Dump
Mare St. Clair is a biological health hazard. I would only recommend this dump to a person I loathe. No pool. A broken down gym. No bar. No restaurant. No coffee shop. No air conditioning in lobby. Trip Advisor would be wise not to list this terrible hotel.

*DO NOT BOOK HERE*
This was the most horrible experience I’ve had at a “resort” hotel. After I checked in, which took multiple calls, they said all of the amenities were not available. That meant the pool, bars, restaurants and she even said the gym. How are y’all open like this and still charging the full amount. This is robbery! And then they only change your linen after 4-5 days. I guess they expect that since the rooms have stoves that you should cook your own meals. That’s not what I want to do on a vacation. I will not recommend this hotel to a roach. And don’t get me started with the employee who was smoking weed in the baggage storage and at the front desk. She was so zooted she didn’t look like she knew if she was coming or going!! If I could give a zero I would. The management should be ashamed of themselves allowing this hotel to be in the condition it is!

Worst accommodations ever
Poor service and lack of promised amenities. Pool was closed and restaurant was closed. Resort knew about this months before my scheduled trip and failed to notify me so I could reschedule. Closures were not covid related.

Save Your Money, Look Elsewhere
If you stay here, you will be disappointed. At check-in, the desk attendant told me the pool was closed, and has been since January. (No active renovation is going on, mind you. It’s just simply closed). I said, “I bet you’ve gotten tons of complaints about that, haven’t you?” And he told me, “You wouldn’t believe how angry some people have been!” I get it though, you save your hard earned dollars for a resort hotel only to discover the pool and hot tub are closed. Other issues I faced were sporadic room cleaning. Sometimes they’d come in and take the trash, the dirty towels, and leave fresh towels. Sometimes no towels. Sometimes more coffee than I could drink in a week. And sheets were only changed after 5 days when I specifically asked for it. I called the first day about a sink faucet that constantly dripped. They came and spent 4 hours replacing it the next morning (the guy spent about 90% of that time playing on his phone). Only to finish, and they left me with a sink that sprays water out to the sides, soaking my toiletries. I finally gave up on them. The stove isn’t level, so you can only fill a pan 1/2 full with water or else it leaks out the back of the pan. Plaster is crumbling around the edges of the walls of the exterior of the building. And elevators are constantly inoperative. Dare I mention the laundry room in the basement? I can sum that up with 1 word…sketchy (Las than half of the machines work). The mold in the showers of this hotel was so bad a coworker of mine moved over to the Residence Inn across the street to book a room on his own dollar, because his allergies were off the hook. The best perk of this location is that it’s right on the beach. But be sure you ask for a room with a balcony on the west side- so you can overlook the El San Juan hotel’s pool and beautifully manicured gardens and wish you were there instead.
