Not without it's flaws but still a great holiday
Even though I'll start with the negatives, we had a wonderful honeymoon here. The good at this resort far outweighs the bad, however it's important to say that our stay wasn't perfect. I can echo other comments about the length of check in, it is a little unnecessary, and quite tiresome when you've had a long flight and transfer from Cancun. Our main issue however was our first room. We were given 2105, which is ground floor, and as we found out later, next to the main bar. At 8pm we heard very loud and clear the live saxophonist playing, which is fine. What isn't fine is that music of some description carries on until 1am at the bar, and the room blocks absolutely none of that. This I think is absolutely unacceptable at a resort billed as luxury and relaxing, someone who has paid a lot of money to stay will always have to put up with that unless they ask to change rooms. Which is what we did, and the very helpful staff at reception moved us to room 3115 which is far away from the noise. The simple fact I had to request a room change however really isn't good enough at such an expensive place, I expect all rooms to be quiet enough to sleep in when you're paying £200+ a night to stay. Aside from that big old elephant, the spa staff are far too pushy, i don't need to be asked 10 times a day, every day, if I want to spend $100 on a massage, the answer is still no. And there were occasionally local people attempting to sell things to you on the beach, unfortunately including ecigarettes, which are illegal in Mexico. As it's a gated resort, these people have to have been let in, which i don't approve of. Anyway that's quite enough of that, onto the many great sides of this place. Chief among which is the staff. I've never experiences such gracious hospitality as the staff at this resort, and really of the Mexican people in general, everyone we met and spoke to was just so friendly and really worked hard to make your experience a good one. They're all great but the bellboys as a group stand out particularly, but a man named Daniel at the la caretta restaurant was simply amazing, the best server i've ever had anywhere. We also really enjoyed the food. The evening buffet restaurant was disappointing but all the A La Carte offerings, plus the beach bbq and arrecifes for lunch, and all the breakfast options were great. The Italian Mia Casa was our personal favourite, closely followed by the Culinarium and La Caretta. It was particularly nice to try foods that I wouldn't normally have in the UK, all inclusive is perfect for that. If you're a brit, do remember that Mexico has a tipping culture, not something we're used to at home. This goes for the restaurants as well as other services! The location of the resort is just perfect, beautiful beachfront with loads of day beds and sun loungers. The pools were also very nice and very clean (as was the whole resort), as well as the activities plaza. Can't talk about the gym because we didn't go - holidays are for putting on all the weight that you subsequently need the gym for! We loved seeing all the wildlife, there's so many lizards and iguanas around which is amazing, and we also saw raccoons, lots of birds, and even a young capybara! Not too many insects though, no doubt the Iguanas saw to that! So as I say, not perfect but we really did love our time here, I would definitely return. Thanks again to all the wonderful staff for making our honeymoon so special!

Definitely not a 4 star resort
First impressions the place looked good. We were given suite *2101* on the ground floor. 1) comes with a whirlpool bath, ours never worked, even after reporting this to reception. 2) First night we had an awful night sleep. The passage beside the suite leads to the pool bar and restaurants. After midnight the staff and their noisy trolleys bumping along the passage to restock the bars and restaurants. And again just before 5am. 3) woke one morning to no hot water, after using the loo. Rang reception and told them about this and told to use a toilet by the pool to wash my hands! Reception said this problem would be fixed in an hour. 3 hours later we had to arrange a shower in a different suite. After our day by the pool, went back to our suite, now no water at all. More calls to reception and told we should use the spa to shower. We got a lift there by the bellboy, and had a long walk back in our robes.4) Missed our dinner slot due to the shower problems, so had to call room service. The two times we tried the 24hr room service we got no answer after trying constantly for 30 minutes. Had to walk down to reception and order it from there. 5) Had to change suite as water didn't come back on. 6) Beach barbecue and fire show. They were selling front row table seats for $200 or first come first serve and the back which we didn't mind. What made us turn around d were the hundreds of flies all over the cooking food. 7) The entertainment team were fantastic around our pool.

Unimpressed.
please note, i am not writing this to put you off booking here! Hopefully it will help you decide if this is the right resort for you. We first stayed at this resort back in september 2017 when it was a tui sensimar resort. We did not have a single negative, our stay was perfect! We came back in may 2023 for our honeymoon, we booked the premium swim up room. The rooms have definitely seen better days however they are currently upgrading them so hopefully this will change soon. They are always spotless though and for me thats the most important thing. THE FOOD as a whole, the food quality & choice is poor(EXCEPT KLAY TALAY). I had a few bad experiences. Mainly, the gourmet pub. i had brisket sliders for starter and nearly broke my tooth, there were 2 coin size pieces of bone inside the pulled meat. after speaking with the manager, she apologised and advised she would speak to the kitchen. MIA CASA (The italian) on one occasion we waited over 45 minutes for our mains to arrive, when the couple who were seated after us were already onto dessert. When our mains finally came, my husbands was steaming hot (GREAT) however mine was stone cold. This experience was made worse by our server, who didnt even come over to our table the whole time we were waiting for our mains, despite us leaving our empty wine and water glasses on the edge of the table (Maybe he was new). Food consistency throughout the resort is poor. For example, you could order the exact same dish at the same restaurant 2 nights in a row and they can be very very different in terms of what food is actually on your plate. We ended up skipping lunch entirely as unless you want pizza, hotdogs or burgers for lunch there isnt much else. We had an issue one morning where a bird had dropped part of another dead bird onto our submerged sun lounger and parts also fell into the communal pool. Bearing in mind the remains were bloody - it took 5 complaints for somebody to finally come to our room. They changed the sunlounger and left. the parts in the pool were not removed until the following morning when our usual pool cleaner done his rounds. We did not use the pool for that day due to possible diseases. I know my review may seem more negative than positive, however the customer service generally throughout the resort is second to none! Everyone seems so happy to be serving you all the time. This resort will always have a place in my heart due to our engagement here back in 2017 & now our honeymoon, however unfortunately i think we will be looking at different resort options for our next trip. Still in mexico though. Mexico is amazing. If i was rating this based purely on the customer service received by 99% of the staff, it would be 5 star without question. However, unfortunately taking everything else into account this is resort is no where near the standard it was back in 2017 so i can only give it a 2.

Worth staying for 7-10 days
Unfortunately like all places the hotel is under staffed, which reading the local news this is common. A lot of very good staff are at the resort Lizbeth Omar Joel The worse member of staff when it's all inclusive refused to give more than two drinks and was very sexist towards women - Alonzo. He obviously didn't want to serve drinks unless your a big tipper, then strangely enough the shots came out. I think if this was the first time of being here I would be happy, but I've seen it change from pre covid. It would be value for money if the price was lower and I didn't book for 2 weeks. 7-10 days would be the max I could recommend, and this is only due to the food choice. It looks like TUI are pulling out after April 2024 which hopefully this time next year that it will be back to its old version, when it was great food, more staff and some revamping is completed.
