    Vacation 2023

Our experience at this hotel was wonderful. we stayed for 7 nights. Anastacio and Alvaro took care of us on the beach, every day with the Balinese beds. The drink service was very good, Mary the waitress was very attentive. all of them made our stay very good. the way to the airport was long but worth it.

Alvaro and Anastacio the best !!!!

Alvaro and Anastacio, in the Balis beds, very helpful. We spent 10 days on the Palms side, very good attention from the staff,We really liked the culinarium restaurant, the best thing is the stone soup, I had never tried it, the show we liked the most was the Mexican party. Thank you all for the excellent service....

    Needs improvement

Please note, I am not writing this to put you off booking here! Hopefully it will help you decide if this is the right resort for you. We first stayed at this resort back in September 2017 when it was a tui sensimar resort. We did not have a single negative, our stay was perfect! We came back may 2023 for our honeymoon, we booked the premium swim up room. The rooms have definitely seen better days however they are currently upgrading them so hopefully this will change soon. They are always spotless though and for me that’s the most important thing! The food. As a whole, the food quality/choice is poor(EXCEPT KLAY TALAY & CULINARIUM). I had a couple of bad experiences. Firstly, the gourmet pub. I ordered the brisket sliders for starter, you get 3 small rolls full of pulled brisket meat. The first two were amazing. The third one I bit into it and nearly broke my tooth. There were two small coin size objects inside. After querying this with the restaurant manager, I was told they were the end caps of the bone as it was rolled oxtail. They apologised and informed me they would speak to the kitchen to check the rest. We also ate twice at the Italian (Mia casa) - the first visit was nice, food was very tasty. The second visit, we waited a very long time for our main, whilst the couple who were seated after us had already been offered their desert. When our mains finally came, my husbands was steaming hot (great) however mine was stone cold. Also the waiter who was serving us didn’t even come over the whole time we were waiting for our mains - despite us putting our empty wine & water glasses to the edge of the table (maybe he was new). Please note, portion sizes at mia casa are Tiny! Thank god for the buffet restaurant next door. The Asian (Klay talay) is amazing. Food is consistently great. We ended up booking here several times. The Mexican ( la careta) is also good. The culinarium for dinner was good too. The Cajun chicken is amazing! And I’m soo sorry I forgot his name but our waiter on one of the nights was exceptional. Literally could not have done enough for us! Even put a little happy honeymoon sign in our desert despite only finding out we were on our honeymoon 30 mins earlier. Food consistency throughout the resort is poor. For example, you could order the exact same dish at the same restaurant 2 nights in a row and they can be very very different in terms of what food is on your plate. We ended up just eating breakfast then dinner, as unless you want burger/hotdog or pizza for lunch everyday unfortunately there isn’t much else. Plenty of top label alcohol at all bars which isn’t watered down which is Great however we noticed some arent what they are suppose to be. For example, the Sevilla gin was definately not Sevilla gin. We had an issue one morning, a bird had dropped part of a dead animal (possibly a smaller bird) and it’s bloody remains had landed in our submerged sun lounger with parts also falling in the communal pool. I reported this at 8am & after 5 more complaints, somebody finally arrived just before 12pm. They removed our sunbed and gave us new ones. However, the dead animal parts had not been removed from the pool until the following morning when our regular pool cleaner done his rounds. For this reason, we pretty much lost a day in our pool- which we had paid a lot of money for the swim up room. I didn’t fancy swimming in a pool with bloody feathers due to possible diseases etc. the entertainment team here are great, plenty of activities on offer throughout the day. Tequila mug painting was fun. I know my review may seem more negative than positive, however the customer service generally throughout the resort is second to none! Everyone seems so happy to be serving you all the time. We never had any issues making reservations for the restaurants. One thing I didn’t like from our 2023 stay is the multiple unlicensed vendors walking the beach offering you weed & cocaine. As this is a public beach, they cannot be removed by the hotel and I often see them having a laugh with some of the hotel staff. We didn’t have this issue back in 2017. Again, not the hotels fault however I just think more could be done to try to deter them as they could risk the health of their guests if anyone decided to buy from them & trust me people do. The shops on site are very very expensive. If you need anything, order a taxi, go to the nearest petrol station/supermarket and taxi back & I promise you you’ll still end up paying cheaper than what you would have in the shops! Despite the number of pools & loungers, these get taken quickly, whilst a number of the Bali beds stay empty as you have to pay extra to reserve them for some stupid reason. Also, if you fancy a day at the beach, you will need to be up very very early in order to get a sun lounger. This wasn’t an issue for us back in 2017. We avoided the beach though, due to the vendors & the fact that for as far as you can walk out in the sea the water is still only about a foot high. Also, the sea bed is very rocky so wear water shoes. This resort will always have a place in my heart due to our engagement here back in 2017 & now our honeymoon, however unfortunately I think we will be looking at different resort options for our next holiday. Still in Mexico though. Mexico is amazing. If I was rating this based purely on the customer service received by 99% of the staff, it would be 5 star without question. However, unfortunately taking everything else into account this resort is no where near the standard it was back in 2017 so I can only give it a 2
