Good but not a great stay
I have been an Exotic Travelers (ET) member for over 15 years. During this time, ET has made numerous changes to its memberships. The last was the separation of Karisma with Prestige. In my experience, there have been benefits lost and others included. This new change has included both. I will not get into the advantages/ disadvantages. I arrived on September 17 for inclusion of the Member's Appreciation Week festivities. I had a private Lomas vehicle for transport to the resort. The ride was short and comfortable. Upon arrival, I saw several bellmen who I have known for years. I was greeted with embraces and handshakes and was made to feel at home. A special thanks to ALL the bellmen. I have some personal issues, and they made every attempt to take care of me during my stay. Too many names, but all should be recognized. Since I was staying in a Royale section room, my check in was at the Front Lobby. This brought back fond memories. What is disappointing is ET/ EDR no longer offers a welcome drink upon arrival. This is a tradition for YEARS and one I truly miss. I was checked in by a young man named Adonis. He was very professional and attentive. During my 10 day stay I would see him throughout the resort, and he always said hi and speak with me. He is a very good employee and a nice young man. I stayed in Building 55 which, 15 years ago, was the premium spot of the resort. Now it's a more secluded area of the EDR resort. The room had been updated since my last stay in this section and was nice. The bed was semi-comfortable, but after hundreds of people sleeping on the same mattress, it was a little worn. The room itself seemed brighter due to the lighter colored closets and furniture. My last stay was in 2022 when I stayed in the 2800 Casita section of the resort. The resort grounds remain beautifully landscaped and kept. Shortly after arriving at my room, I was greeted by one of my two personal butlers, Melissa Campos. Ms. Campos helped me greatly during my staff and I want to personally thank her and give her the recognition she deserves. My other butler was Hugo who also was a great help and also deserves recognition. My two concierges, Paula and I apologize but can't recall the other's name, were fantastic with me and treated me with kindness and friendship. During my stay I did have numerous issues with the ET app. Staff helped me, but reservations were not confirmed or lost. I liked it before when the concierges made your dinner reservations. Most of my dinner meals were good. I enjoyed Kampai, Lobby D'Italia, Haab and Fuentes. A special recognition to waiter Jossue at Kampai. He is an excellent waiter and a very nice young man. Also, a special recognition and thanks to the omelet chef at Cocotal, Alehondro, who for over 25 years has been working at EDR. He is a sweet man and a wonderful chef. As for a con, I had the special breakfast in bed as part of my room selection. This was on September 23rd. Not to be graphic, but this was the WORST meal I have EVER had at EDR/EDC. This meal made me SO SICK that I was still ill well after I returned home on September 27th. It ruined my last remaining 5 days. I have NEVER had an issue with food at EDR, but as I found out, there is always a first time. Not a good time. Due to this unfortunate circumstance, I was unable to enjoy a couple of excursions I was entitled to. All in all, EDR is still a wonderful resort to vacation.

Great trip!
Loved visiting the El Dorado Royale. This was our second visit. Huge shout out to Ruben, our butler. Ruben. Made our anniversary trip extra special. There were some small challenges with our room assignment, but after 2 days, we didn't mind because Ruben kept going above and beyond. We wanted to stay in our room so we could have Ruben stay as our butler. The food at El Dorado was fantastic! The only feedback is for the servers at the restaurants that require a reservation. I recognize that they are very busy, but some nights we waited 10-15 minutes after being seated to be greeted by our waiter and to get a drink order in. I think they could use some additional support bussing/setting up tables. Otherwise, everything was fantastic. We will be returning.

Vacation and MAW 2024
We arrived on Sep 16th and stayed in the Casitas for 4 nights and then moved to the 2 bedroom villas with another couple until the 29th. The trip was excellent especially for MAW week. The butlers Claudio, Kevin, Gabby in the villas were absolutely great. The butlers Alfredo and Alondra in the 32 Casitas were also great. The food was excellent at all of the restaurants with just one hiccup at Sante Fe where the sea bass was slightly overdone and small. and the closing dinner at MAW was Just ok. The opening dinner at and BBQ for MAW was excellent. The Haab, Kampaii , La Cabana, Chefs Market , De Italia Casitas and Cocotol were all excellent. The Members dinner at Fuentes was amazing--Thanks Chef Eduardo. A big shout out to Alex Espinoza for coordinating all the activities, you were truly amazing. We want to recognize the following people who were great. Pedro at Lomas travel at the airport for taking care of a mistake in transportation. Wilbert at Sante Fe restaurant, Juan our bartender and Jose our beach butler in 32 Casitas. Gabriel and Emi our beach butlers in the villas. Silverio and Jairo at De Italia Casitas. Sheila and Jesus at Fuentes. Deysi at Haab. Gabriela, Omar and Yuriko at Casitas spa. Luigi and Staff at MAW opening. Roxanna and Manuel for BBQ in the room at the Villas. Octavio at Jade. Sammy at Rincon and Victor at La Cabana, Alehondro at the grill at Cocotol who always has a smile. Also all the bellman at checkin and checkout. I wish we could remember all the great staff. We only have one downside comment. We wish that the allowment of pets on the resort doesnt get out of hand. We love the resort and will be back next year.
